  1. Stinger, Too late bro :( i already did that and then some, so to make a long story short its 5 am and i have just finished doing a non-destructive system recovery on my pc since it said that my os was corrupted and i'm trying to back up all my files before i reformat the hd completely. i got it to work earlier but it showed 2 monitors one with the onboard and one with the nvidia, so i set the nvidia as my primary and the screen went black, i could not see anything :( but i could hear sounds and all that stuff.

the funny thing is that my girlfriend was telling me "if it ain't broke, then don't fix it", she thinks i got it all working and that the system is ok :D

  2. Stinger, yeah they are still there, i only disabled the onboard in device manager and in bios. could that be the problem? can you give me a sequence of steps that i could follow? Thanks for the help.

  3. Today i went out and got the geforce mx 440 se 64 mb vid card, it is made by a company called apollo.

I followed all instructions which was to power down and disconnect monitor and everything else from the pc then install the card in the pci slot, then turn on the pc and install the cd. i tried that but when i turned the computer on with the monitor connected to the card, i got a series of beeps and the screen stayed black and eventually the monitor turned off. so i unplugged everything again and this time plugged the monitor into its original socket, when i logged into xp it found the new hardware and installed all the drivers and all that stuff and everything looked ok. so after a restart i went to bios and selected pci instead of on board agp then i went into device manager and saw that the card was there along with the onboard video, so i disabled the on board from device manager. i did a restart and there were no beeps but the screen was still black, i don't know what else to do, i'm so upset since the store does not offer refunds just exchanges :wall: i just feel like i got ripped off or something

if i'm doing anything wrong (i hope i am) can someone please let me know, otherwise its the card and i'm out $139 canadian

  4. Hello everyone,

I have been planning to upgrade my video card for a while now and after some searching and saving I have narrowed it down to two choices:

GEFORCE 4 64MB PCI VIDEO Video Card #1

    ATI RADEON 7000 64MB PCI DDR 32-BIT,3D, 2X/4X MPEG-2 Video Card #2

There is only a difference of about $11 dollars between the two. I'm planning to get either one tomorrow after I get off shift or on Monday :D . Any advice would be helpful.

    My System Specs:

    HP PAVILION 7935

    Athlon 1.3/200FSB

    ASUS A7V-VM (GLAS)

    MAXTOR 40 GB HD

32MB S3 GRAPHICS PROSAVAGE (ON BOARD VIDEO)

    384 MB SDRAM

  5. Well, I guess the States are going to be dropping MOAB's, but Canadians are going to be dropping Sea Kings.

The state that the Canadian Forces are in. First it was GREEN CADPAT camo for troops in Afghanistan :wall: and now a Sea King (30 hrs maintenance = 1 hour flight) takes off a ship and crashes after reaching a height of 16 feet or so. :wall:

    I wonder what's next <_<

  6. I just finished reinstalling GR/DS/IT and patched it up to 1.4. I decided to have a look at the IKE file and noticed a few things like missing rsb files. Is this normal? I did a fresh install since these missing rsb textures were present when I checked IKE before, and was the main reason why I removed everything and did a new install.

  7. Hello all,

I had to uninstall GR/DS/IT from my pc last night. I plan on reinstalling it again later on today. I was just wondering if anyone can help me out with the xml files that unlock all specialists for all three campaigns as well as all the maps, I forgot to save the xml files into a separate directory before I uninstalled.

As for the patches, does the sequence matter, I mean can't i just install patch 1.4 after I install all three GR campaigns or do I have to get the patches installed in sequence?

    Thanks,

    Aggressor

  8. I think that moving vehicles should be used to some extent in GR2.

for example a fixed gun mounted on a truck/jeep should remain useable if its not naded. you should be able to hide inside downed choppers, etc. some creativity will be needed for sure.
    excellent idea.

As i recall, during the gulf war spec ops units did have those dune buggies and or atv's. It would be fun to drive a Hummer and run over a few tangos.

  9. Hello all,

I'm still a newbie when it comes to mods and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions regarding which maps work best with which weapon/skin mods? Or do all map mods work well with any weapon/skin mods?

I recently downloaded IDF 1.3, 22nd SAS and EARL's Vympel mod and I'm looking at some new maps to play these mods on. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Aggressor

  10. I have never cheated when playing MP, its bad enough that people cheat in every day aspects of real life but in a video game too, come on

I have used some of the codes for SP (where chickens explode(too funny) , and people have big heads or something like that) I also used them when I got stuck in certain areas, etc. That's just an easy way out especially if you get fustrated and it feels nice to beat a computer with help once in a while

    Just my two cents.

  11. EARL,

I would like to thank you AGAIN for the Standard Upgrade mod, its AWESOME and also for the Vympel mod, I was very impressed with the standard upgrade and looked at the Baconbomb site for the first time today :o and saw the Vympel mod and the rest is history :D , the whole mod is very professional and simply awesome :D I'm having a blast..which is good except I have a Microbiology exam tomorrow, but one more hour won't hurt right?

  12. I must say that its much friendlier here :D when compared to UBI, I remember seeing a whole thread dealing with two or three people just constantly flaming each other, it was an interesting read at times, but very immature IMO

  13. Ruin, don't get it if it doesn't have an AGP slot. I have an HP Pavilion 7935, it seemed pretty good when i first got it, mind you i knew nothing about video cards, pci, agp and all that stuff. But right now i wish i had bought a computer with an agp slot.

I was on the phone with a tech two days ago and he showed me some bios tweaks to somewhat upgrade my on board video performance. It was a learning experience, but anyway i'm at 32mb "agp-on/board" versus 16mb pci.

I asked the tech about upgrading my on board graphics to a real video card and when i told him that i had a pci slot and no agp, he told me that it would be like "taking a step backwards since the agp architecture is more efficient than that of the pci"

Knowing what i know now...i would have just build my own computer i think that for $2000 CDN i could have gotten a better comp, well in terms of video anyway. did i mention that i only have two slots for SDRAM
