  1. Hello,

I installed a new video card two days ago and I just noticed that my psu is "warmer" than usual. I'm just wondering if this is normal or not. I have no temp. sensors or anything like that and to check temp i have to go to BIOS.

The vid card is an ATI Radeon 7500 64 MB DDR PCI. I flipped through the manual that came with the HP Pavilion PC and noticed this:

"Warning: do not overload the system by installing add in cards that draw excessive current. The system is designed to provide 2 amps (average) of +5V power for each board/card in the computer. The total +5V current draw in a fully loaded system (one with all add in card slots filled) must not exceed the total number of slots multiplied by 2 amps."

Can someone explain what that means. There are three pci slots on the mobo and I'm currently using two of them (vid card and modem). Am I overloading the system?

I do not know how much power the vid card uses and I checked ATI's website but could not find anything.

When I asked whether the card would work with a 115 watt PSU, the sales person said that the pci card only supplies a certain amount of power, no more no less. The vid card is working great (50-73 fps, after tweaking Direct 3D settings). I haven't noticed any "wierd" things happening or any abrupt shutdowns.

I haven't asked HP tech support since they will probably give me the usual "contact the manufacturer or technician who performed the install, etc" and I'm not sure if this voids my warranty in any way.

    Thanks

  2. There are a bunch of mods coming out in the next month or two as Rocky had mentioned, and some of those are HUGE mods in terms of size and complexity (the community mod, Frostbite, HP's Vietnam mod, the DTD mod).

There are also some excellent fair sized mods such as Jack57's new campaign as well as a few weapon and skin mods in the works right now :D

  3. This is it :D I have finally found a vid card that will work on the dreaded HP PAVILION :D

I picked up an ATI 7500 PCI today and all is working well (30-60fps so far on the refinery map with everything on high, no shadows).

Are there any tweaks or adjustments in the ATI control panel that I should do to improve performance? Open GL settings, Direct 3D, Anisotropic Filtering, Anti-Aliasing, etc?

    Thanks.

  4. Jack 57, looking forward to the new mod. I have just started playing Postcards, and I have to say that it is excellent :D (can't get past the 2nd mission yet) and I also got Saving Pilot Ryan which I plan to start after I finish Postcards. Thank You for making such excellent campaign mods :)

Thank You to all the MODDERS who keep GR ALIVE AND "NEW"

  5. Why not get some Arab or UN peacekeepers in there as soon as possible as well as other UN and aid agency assets.

That should show the critics that the US and UK are not there as conquerors but as liberators and it also gives the Arab and European critics one less thing to whine about.

Lets send in some French peacekeepers, surely they can control unarmed civilians

Its a good thing to see that this phase of the war is almost at an end.

  6. Now that man is a true optimist, if they really do exist :D , inspite of all that has happened and all evidence to the contrary he still insists that "they are winning the war" and that it is the US and UK "who should surrender".

I get a kick out of seeing him on TV everyday lying through his teeth and putting on a great act...I say after we grab him and get what we need...give the man an Oscar :D

One last thing...I'll have whatever he's smoking  that must be some good desert grown cheebah

  7. I had downloaded this mod a while back and forgot where i had saved it, i eventually found it yesterday and the rest is history.

I had played this mod with Earl's Spetsgruppa Vympel and it kicks @$$. I must say that all the nice touches really add to the immersion factor in the game, it takes a while to get used to your team speaking russian, and the NVG noise is a nice touch too.

    Thanks Jack :D
