  1. I just grabbed SOAF at a local store today for $10.00 :D NEW & BOXED :o i was just wondering if there are mods for this game and where can i get them?

I haven't started playing yet (putting in the dvd drive after shift) :D

    Thanks

  2. I personally feel that political corretness has been getting really annoying as of late. It has gotten to the point where I constantly worry that what i say might be misinterpreted by the person(s) that i am speaking to, or others that may overhear the conversation. I'm a very blunt person, and i tell it like it is, and i find it annoying that i have to change my personality and the way i am and how i communicate to be more politically correct. Now i don't go off cussing and spewing profanities everytime i get angry or talk to someone, but i have been told that i am too honest and too blunt by an instructor...so what am i supposed to do? just shut up and not say anything anymore? lie to the person, instead of telling them the truth, so as not to offend thier feelings? its not my fault that people are too sensitive and cannot take constructive criticism and feedback.

Christmas 2002: i'm from a city called Hamilton and it has two parts, the downtown area and the "mountain" which is on the Niagara escarpment. When one travels from the downtown area to the mountain, there is a cliff wall on one side and nothing (except a good view on the other side). It is on this cliff wall that christmas greetings (huge letters and lighted at night) were put up by the city. A few years ago its was "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" which for the sake of political correctness was changed to "Happy Holidays" and "Seasons Greetings", since some people in the City do not celebrate Christmas and may be offended by the signs....well what about those who do celebrate Christmas (the majority in the city)?

Also at the same time in Toronto, i think the mayor (Mel Lastman) referred to the Christmas tree at City Hall or Nathan Philips Square as a "Holiday Tree"....a holiday tree??? to be more politically correct

I think i have rambled enough for one night. If i have offended anyone with my post, i did not do so intentionally and i'm merely stating my opinion which i am legally entitled to do so, :D

  3. Ok now i don't feel so bad. i went out yesterday to grab RvS and SC at my local Compusmart. the guy asked me what i had on my system and then told me that both games "are gonna run like crap" on my system .

after i had recovered from the initial shock  , he just stated that he was being honest and that he was not getting paid by commission, instead he was getting paid by the hour and that he had seen too many gamers being lied to justl to get a sale. and that what he was giving me was his honest opinion...somehow i do not trust that dude ;)

i really wanted to try it out though :)

  4. Hey DVS1, i like this model better than your previous one. Please stop teasing us and release those models already :D:D .

Do i still get mine in camo?? And how bout some in game screens?? Also maybe its just me, but shouldn't the stock be extended?

I really hope that you release the models soooon :P

  5. hello all,

got another question for you. i have been having issues installing GR, DS and IT using the cd-rom/rw combo drive that came with the HP Pavilion.

Wk stated that it might be due to the Safe Disk protection on the CD's.

I plan on getting either a cd-rom or dvd-rom drive today, after i get off shift at the hospital.

Which one should i get? will the dvd-rom work with installing games, especially the new ones such as SC and RvS? or is the cd-rom drive better?

I'm kinda leaning towards a dvd-rom drive, if it does work with games and plus i can watch dvd's :D

*looks around* ok i'd better run, charge nurse at 3 o'clock :D

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problems with the SafeDisk copyright protection may be rearing it's ugly head I am afraid.

    Why now?? Why me??? :D

Thanks for all the help :D I'm getting one this weekend since you need a regular cd-rom drive to install new games such as Splinter Cell and RvS.

I'll try one last install, maybe it will work

  8. yeah the hp only came with a cd-rom/rw combo drive. its really annoying. i have never had probs until this week. i've been playing gr since last year and have done numerous installs and uninstalls on my pc and have never had probs. i'll see if getting a cd-rom drive fixes anything. i have run out of options at the moment :wall::stupid:

thanks for all the help :) .

  9. yeah i was using the IT cd, but before, the GR and DS cd works even when i had installed IT. none of the cd's work when i want to start the game, although the installation is flawless (i check the programs folder and see the ghost recon folder with mp1 and mp2 installed.

when i put the cd in my drive, the splash screen comes up and i select, play island thunder, or ds or gr (depending on which cd i use). it looks like its loading up but i never get to the main menu in the game, the desktop stays the same.

i will try another install again later on today. i'm just confused on whether its the cd-rw drive or the cd-roms. like i had mentioned, the installation for gr, ds, and it goes smoothly with no problems. and other cd-roms work as well. but when i want to play the gr, i click on the shortcut on the desktop but it does not launch the game, i tried the .exe and that also does not work.

  10. i have tried both the .exe and the autoplay from the cd. it works sometimes and sometimes it does not  i tried installing Rogue Spear and Urban Ops and they both work. maybe its the stupid pc. i checked all my cd's and they are not scratched, well the IT has a few hairline scratches.

    Thanks

  11. I played GR two nights ago and it was working fine. i tried playing it yesterday and when i place the cd into the drive and click play on the menu, it kinda starts but then nothing happens, i have left it for as much as 20 minutes and nothing happens. when i hit ctrl+alt+del i can see ghostrecon.exe in the Processes tab. i tried all three cd's and it does the same thing.

i did a fresh install and cleaned the registry using jv16 powertools (reg cleaner). the installation (game & patch) went smoothly, but the same issue happened, no matter which cd i used, the game would not run.

i'm not running any burned cd's or any stupid stuff like that. i use a cd-rw to install the game and play the game since last year and have had no difficulties whatsoever. other cd-roms work as well so i don't think its the cd-rw. i don't know what else it could be, i have done fresh uninstalls and installs before and this has got me confused. :(

i'm already feeling the symptoms of GR withrawal, need GR STAT :D

  12. :o WoW :o You guys are hard core cooling enthusiasts :D i'll be getting the Volcano 9 in a week or so :) but its spring and the Civic  tells me that *she* wants a body kit, lowering springs and a cat back exhaust :D

Back on topic, thanks to everyone who replied to this topic, thanks for the ideas, tips and suggestions, you have all been very very helpful as usual :D

Trust me, I'd much rather nto work and keep my grades up then take a job and have to drop my AP classes and (hopefully) college classes. It's not worth it to me. I'd rather have the schooling.

True say, Ruin, true say :D. I made the mistake of working when i was 15, all throughout highschool, i mean the money was good and getting gear was a weekly routine but the grades suffered immensley as a result of that. i missed the admission cutoff for the Health Sciences (pre-med) program at McMaster University :stupid: At the same time, i managed to save up a few grand to pay for first year nursing in full plus the texts and the pavilion.

Working is great, but it requires self-discipline and excellent time management skills. Give it a shot once you are of age to work, just don't get carried away. Stay in school and be edjumacated :D
