Yeah, CD's are not trusty for the long term. Rumours (i never experienced it personally) say the indeed the five year. But the age will depent on some factors like quality of the cd (brand). burnspeed and usage. If you want a more reliable storage device i will recomment (mobile) harddrives. If you figure some things out there are some advantages. The cost seems high but isnt that much. For example; a 160GB drive is +/- 180 euro/USD. Thats 230 * 700mB CD's. The cheapest are +/- 0,50 eur/USD so that makes 115 euro/USD. Now youve got a advantage in storings-space (300 CD cases, whats that 1m

Once i had this heating problem which was the cause of a partly melting IDE cable (from mb to harddisk). The strange thing was that the computer still continued to run, but at an truly nerverbreaking slow speed. To bad that ive got no pics. The inside had the look of a bbq, but the thing was still doing its job.

Thanks, atleast thats some concrete information. (In my search for the ultimate knowledge i also bumped in the consortium site. But every time i read it, and especially when the term 'cielab' came along, i got a bit light in the head and had the urge to look through any window nearby.)

Now i learned color management for digital photography the hard way, im up for the next hurdle; color management on the web. What to do to make sure that the picture i put on a site looks the same on other monitors/for other visitors? Is there a norm, or color profile for web-use? Do, for example, browers recognise profiles?

I receiveed the same some weeks ago. I think its bs too. But thinking in some neat complottheory-way, it could be spread by the RIAA or other copyright defenders. Because their plan de campaign is imo only based on scare some heck out of p2p-users.

Yeah i saw the same on such a channel, where developers tested such device. You can adjust the beam in a wide or narrow angle and point them on a group or individual Its developed as a non lethal weapon, to be used to control crowds. If beamed the target get paralysed by the tremendous hard sound.

Rocks? Ill even prefer the lame mp5 above rocks... Seriously, after being fed up with the almighty SA80, M4 and OICW i found myself a new favorite; the FN-Fal. Pretty fast and accurate, but above all very effective. Too bad it doesnt come in a kit with explosives for a more blood and gore effect.

Yeah, i saw it, congrats to you ozzies. I was a bit confused about the lack of variations among the nominees. LotR, M&C, Mistic River and Cold Mountain all the way. btw; anyone saw it on the BBC? Whats it with the gay-thing? At the end of this 4 hour broadcast i really could shoot mister Jonathan Ross and his panel.
