Winchesters Dynapoints in the bulk box used to be some of the best stuff for the price. I'm not even sure if you can still get it, its been a few years since I've shot my 10/22 beyond a few rounds for fun or extermination jobs. I've got a Bushnell Banner in 6-18x40AO that I switch between my 10/22 and the 96/17. It's a good reach "out and touch 'em" scope for a small price, as is the Simmons Whitetail Classic. My birthday is coming up on the 22nd. Makes me feel like splurging on an Aimpoint or Eotech for my AR.

Muzzle rise with machine pistols has always been an issue, especially with the high cyclic rate. As Serellan stated, the Beretta 93r (full auto 92) has a built in forward grip that swings down. Likewise the number of MACs that were sold with straps hanging from the front to use as a grip (although that was more to do with civy laws and a non-machinegun pistol with a forward grip is a no-no (it then become an AOW classified weapon under the NFA). Just look how high the thing points when he held long enough for a three round burst. Anyway, forward grips aren't the problem. Just using them improperly is. It's kind of odd how it came back down on him though, recoil should have lifted the gun up away from the now unsupported hand. I think after it let go he just held in the trigger too long while moving the gun back down into position... and the unsupported hand stayed still ending up in the muzzle sweep.

Fishing is more about location than anything else. If you're where the fish are, you'll catch some. I personally don't enjoy fishing that much, except when I head over to my brother-in-laws pond. We head out in the center on a little boat and cast into the edges near the trees. Last time we did this, we caught about 30 fish between the both of us over a 1-2hr period. Of course we threw them all back, but it's a lot more fun than bank fishing for 3hrs and getting nothing.

I got my copy last week some time. It runs great on my 2600XT/4600x2 system. I've got all graphics maxed playing at default res on my 19" lcd. I've had it crash before it loaded one time, but I think that was an issue with their updater that runs before play. No in game crashes or anything before or since. I have noticed a few bugs where Altair gets hung between objects and on ledges, but nothing major. It does try to download a patch when I start it now, but I keep canceling. I don't want to mess with something that currently works.

Man have things changed around here... Anyway, nice to see someone else has a project car. Are those new wheels Cragars? If not, they look a lot like them. Beautiful old classic. Maybe I will get my hands on a piece of Mopar history some day and make it just as nice.

I'm just now learning the guitar in my free time. I've got a cheap Ibanez (GRX series) and a small 15w Line 6 amp. I also got a Weeping Demon cheap off my brother-in-law. Nothing to write home about... and you sure as heck don't want me to post playing a song.

I didn't know what to make of it at first and fell right in to the Adam Sandler laugh-o-thon. Great movie and a great looking woman (Linda Cardellini).

Weather here has been great as well. A tad chilly in the morning (40s), but daytime is great.

Stuff I already know, but thanks for the reminder. I've got the heads off and the rockers/pushrods organized for reinstallation. Anyone got tips for removing the last of the MLS gaskets left on the head to prep for the new gasket? A guy at work recommended lacquer thinner, but I'm open to suggestions.

No idea on pushrod length, but I'm going to stick them in order in the side of a box and install them back in the same place they came from. Got the exhaust manifolds and lower intake off today. Now I need a gasket scraper, those paper gaskets are on there good. I'm also having trouble finding the right bolts to pull the harmonic balancer. Apparently GM used 1/4" bolts, so typical kits don't have them. Got some today, but they're too short. Time to try again.

Well, like most modern engines, the 3800 uses the plastic intake gaskets. I'll just torque 'em and not worry about it. I'm also throwing on new head gaskets just in case, and a good cleaning. Someone didn't care for cleaning under the hood. I think it even had the original plugs in it, the wires sure were. One plus is that is unmolested by mods. Yep, got the whole wiring harness and pcm. However, the wiring harness is returning for a replacement. It was in bad shape and the guy apologized. It's also going to get a tune of some sort (whether I buy one preprogrammed or buy a programmer myself). I'll also be dropping a few pulley sizes on the blower. WK, if you can offer any advice, feel free. Anything that makes my life easier or makes sure the engines works is OK in my book.

Too late! It's my first time going this deep into an engine, but it's all straight forward for the most part. Just watch your Ps and Qs and use a torque wrench. Some of you old timers might remember me, some might even remember my Grand Prix from an old car thread we did back ages ago. For those that don't, here she is earlier this winter: Well, I had been threatening an engine swap for some time from the stock SE's 3.1 V6 to the supercharged 3.8 in the GTP version. It has come to pass. About a month ago my 3100 blew an intake gasket. Not exactly the cheapest thing to fix, and I had it replaced about 30k miles ago. It's a real problem on those engines. Well, instead of investing money in that, I decided to do the swap. I bought an engine/tranny combo from a guy in Ohio who deals in wrecked W-bodies, along with plans/parts to make it scream. I just got the engine home yesterday and broke into her today. So the following pics will show some of my plans of what is going on. link to large image

As an Olympic Owner (Lower Receiver/Barrel) I'll take exception to that remark They've had issues and done some stupid things in the past. If I wanted a 10mm upper for an AR, they'd be my pick though (I want that, a 10mm UZI carbine, and a MP5-10). Look up the OA-93-CAR. It's origins started in '93 and it lacks the buffer tube. I'm pretty sure it's piston driven, but Oly's site won't cooperate and I'm finding other information sparse. Anyway, I don't thing it's an impingement/ljungman action like the AR. I kinda float with the wind. I was bored last night and was thinking of some places I haven't visited in a while, GR popped in my mind. School's doing good, especially considering I'm still a full time student and working about 30ish hours a week, but my graduation date is suffering. That doesn't even include my current car project (I'm doing what I've been threatening for long enough). How've you been? Shoot the 16" barreled .308 AK in my sig and the AR will feel like a BB gun. I've been dabbling more in handguns than anything, although I haven't bought a gun since probably last Christmas. I did finally get around to trying my hand at installing a beavertail on my RIA. Did you know .44 magnum case heads make almost the perfect .5" radius jig?

Olympic Arms has been making a piston-driven based AR for years now. Can't say I'm a fan of Oly, but even they have a one up on HK's 'breaking' technology advancements in the AR design. PS: I'm not a Colt fan either, they're almost as bad as HK.

HK announced a long time ago they weren't going to sell them to civvies, despite it being 100% legal. I remember a bunch of guys on forums were planning on their buds in the LE business buy them and redistribute. My opinion: Why the heck do you want to buy a gun from someone who thinks you, as a civilian, shouldn't have it? You know with it being HK it's going to be overpriced anyway, and there are other piston-driven AR uppers available that do the same thing. Is the desperation to own something stamped HK that strong? If they don't want my money, they can stick it. BTW, an AK won't fire in all conditions. It will fire in most, though, due to loose tolerances in the gun. Makes for great reliability but crappy accuracy. You can't have your cake and eat it to, so a piston upper won't solve everything.

Ha, you sound like me. I'm on spring break and I'm just enjoying my slight reprieve from my work/school schedule. Sleeping in for three days in a row is amazing.

The 416 has been around for a long time. It's still just a gas-piston operated M16, lust like a 417 would be a gas-piston operated AR10. Nothing new, just HKs version because they're running out of ideas for a cash cow.

On some show I was watching them play with robots equiped with M249 SAWs. They had been programmed to identify and attack humanoid targets. Needless to say, in testing they were effective and accurate. I think we're getting a step closer to machines ruling the world. Never let a computer chip make life or death decisions, that's my motto.

jchung, depends on the officer. A few bad apples ruin the whole bushell. All I can say is, I'm glad the police actually hit what they were aiming at for once. They did us and themselves a favor.
