  1. CC,

the model Im using doesnt have a helmet (it's Jack Stone). But from what Im uderstanding in your text I need to make the .rsb body texture have a white alpha channel in the area where the helmet should be and that will make it "invisble". Ill try this ASAP. I was making it black in the alpha channel because thats the standard Adobe "invisible" color. ;)

  2. Hi all,

Got another question...cant seem to find much on this topic on the handful of sites I know...

Is it possible to have the characters in game use custom voices...specific voices? Say, for instance, if I wanted to model my friend and create an 3D image of him in the game, can I also make that same character use HIS voice via recording in .wav format to speak? Thanks.

  3. OKay, actually the copy-shrink-paste think KINDA works. It keeps cutting a hole in the texture for the "helmet' to allow for the eyes, and it's not quite lining up right....so how do I get it work ? Any thoughts? I can email a screen cap of whats happening if that helps. Thanks.

  4. Greetings all,

Ive checked out the Sansite, and searched these forums, and even checked the GR.net tutorials page, but I cant find what Im looking for. Im trying to figure out how to take a character (like Jack Stone), and remove the headgear to so that he is comepletely bald. Do I have to take the face that I made and copy-paste-shrink it down so that it fits into the "helmet" area of the "body.rsb" file? Or is there another way? Thanks.

    Nevermind....copy-paste-shrink seems to work. ;)

  5. Do I need to encode the "unlocked heroes.xml" file to tell it to look in my mod for new specialists? The interesting thing that happened when I left the Jack Stone stuff alone and just used those file in my mod is that Jack Stone is now available, but he's using the skins my from my mod instead his normal skins.

  6. I dont have either expansion installed because my 2nd "Gold edition" disc is all jacked up. ...I tried loading a few quick missions and I tried loading the first mission in the campaign. ..niether seem to work. Ill try keeping the original .chr filenames in-tact and see if that works. Do I need to tell the "unlocked heroes.xml" that my hero is in my Mod folder, or will it find him there automatically?

I tried leaving the "Jack Stone" stuff alone and just changing the Tracker.atr file to look for and use that base, but that didnt work either.

  7. ...well, it works! ...mostly...

I do have one question though.

Ive created a specialist named "Tracker". I just copied and renamed the Jack Stone files for the base and re-skinned the character and renamed him and put him in my "MOD>ADC>CHARACTER>SPECIALIST" folder. I then added his name to the unlocked hero.xml file, but he's not showing up in GR. Ive already "activated" my mod, but he's still not there. Any ideas? Thanks.

  8. SWEET DEAL! :D Thanks Guys. ...Ill try this right away... And I dont have to do a complete reinstall to get it back...I made copies of the original files and put them in a folder called "ORIGINAL FILES" ;) In case I wanted to put it back, I could just re-overwrite the modded files. ;)

  9. Thanks Thales. So, if Im understanding this correctly, Im just going to copy the file directory the the "origmiss" mod into a new mod folder and edit it as required? and then GR will recognize the new characters and weapons? And from that point it will "add" these files to the GR gameplay?

  10. Thales,

Thanks for that. I dont think Im explaining myself though. I already figured out how to do that. ...what Im trying to do is make my new "specialists" available during the game in addition to the ones who are already there...Im not looking to overwrite the files, I just want to add my characters to the list that the computer uses. Im having trouble finding that file...but Ill keep poking around in the meantime.

  11. Greetings All...

Im sure youve probably seen several of my other FNG posts around here...time for another one! ;)

I have been able to model a basic model ith 3DS Max and overwrite some of the GR files to get my new character to work in game, and it does, but...

I want to make some new specialists. I've put "Paladin_ADC_body.rsb" and all the other needed files into the "specialists" folder...but how do I make them available in-game? Is there some kind of log file that I need to edit?

Also, how to I make them available for each mission? Especially Quick Missions or on MP maps with others who have the same mod that I do?

    Thanks!

  12. Greetings all!

Im sure that these questions have probably been answered somewhere before, but Ive got some stupid noob questons that I was hoping someone on here could help me out with.

Im creating a custom mission, but Im having some issues that I cant seem to figure out.

    1. When I load the mission I try replace the breifing map with a new one. The game will load and display my custom map for a brief moment before it crashes me back to the desktop. I made the map 256x256 just like the other file, and I saved it in .rsb just like the other file. I cant figure out why it's doing that. Any ideas?

    2. I used "Vilnihus" as the base map for my mission. I cant seem to figure out how to get the little yellow "tents" to disappear from the briefing map. And the little flashing images...do I HAVE to have those?

I think I can figure out everything else thats going on...Ive got some tutorials open right now and they're talking about the other issues Im having, but I cant seem to find this info in there. Thanks a lot.
