I think part of what Papa is trying to say is:
Can this engine handle what Grin is trying to throw at it?
Graw is a graphically and gameplay intense game. Is this actually an old engine which was not meant to do what its doing, hence the netcode problems?

Agreed. Though I'd like to see screenshots of the game with deferred lighting off.
I remember seeing some that had color instead of the all brown look. Or were these of the game with a different effect xml'd off?

More tactical games will never have a huge multiplayer community just because they way they are set up.
Like americas army?

I think GRIN can do an awesome job on 2 if they put some heavy focus on multiplayer.
The main focus always has to be SP as long as you're not developing an online only game. And in this type of game, Coop then comes next as it's almost automatic once you have SP.
Other MP modes are always implemented at a level that depends on the time given.
GRAW's almost complete lack of MP "implementation" at release allowed it to turn into the success it is today
I would hope they would learn from such an obvious mistake the second time around.
It has good MP implementation for a TFPS. The MP Coop works great. Like said, everything else isn't what is essential for TFPS.
For any other genre other than a TFPS I might agree you can get away without a strong multiplayer element.
When GRAW first was released there was alot of excitement from the community. On any given day, dozens upon dozens of people would browse theses forums and the official forums. Now, I've regularily seen only 3 or 4 on in prime time. Is this a good guage of a games success? Not exactly, but its only mere months since release and there are less than 100 folks playing online on a regular basis.
First person shooters need MP just as much as single player, in my opinion they need it more to be successful and have longevity.
The larger bulk of the public which bought GRAW moved on before proper mulitplayer aspects were patched in. Even now, months later, patches later, it has a limited MP content.
In my opinion, the community wants a full MP at release so the game doesnt die a premature death. People nowadays have options when it comes to game buying.
If your only into co op play then maybe your satisfied, But the larger part of the community wants a game too that isnt on the shelf in 4 weeks. Other game creators could do it, why couldnt GRAW's?

Not the same company, but another high volume outfit is Steam. When my original cd key wouldnt work, I emailed a photo of the key with my discs and they sent me a new key within a couple of days.
Worth a try with UBI.

Have you tried other modes for the sound? Some onboard will choose extreme but with all the sounds and eax i imagine since onboard sound uses cpu cycles due to it not having it's own processor that under higher amounts of sound that could happen. If it's listed as extreme, test with High, and medium and see if you get the same effect.
.
Ya I tried different sound settings already as I recalled someone mentioning the sounds in game have been improved somewhat.
Tried on Low, Med., and with EAX off and found no difference. Ran all sorts of anti spyware, reg cleaner, antivirus, defrag'd, disc cleaned, etc without any luck.
Also, I don't run through a router, but thanks Papa.

I just have onboard sound, but I left the game running and watched the processes for a few minutes. Cpu for graw stayed at 99% and the only other process that ever even flicked up two percent was of course the task manager. All else stayed at zero.
I tried what Flimflam said as well, with or without anticheat on is the same. (created online server with both)
Unless your in the middle of aiming at someone, its mereley a nuisance. but still iratating all the same.
Thanks.

Check your folder for screenshots. I had that a long time ago... apparantly it was a miss binding and every so often it would take a picture. Was driving me nutz. I had pictures of walls, ground all kinds of crap. LOL!
Unfortunately, folders empty. It occurs with Fraps not running as well.
Thanks though.

I posted this in the tech help section but I'll mention it here.
I get an intermittent game stutter that did not occur with 1.30. About every 7 seconds my game hiccups and then keeps going.
Just enough to throw you off

Hello all,
After installing the 1.35 patch I seem to have aquired a problem. I get a consistent game hiccup that causes a very brief freeze in the game. The freeze is extemely quick, only a fraction of a second, but it does it consistantly about every 7 seconds.
This was not occurring 12 hours earlier when I played with 1.30 and I did'nt add anything else new to my computer in the meantime.
I checked all my game settings and nothing has been changed.
When I run Fraps, I get a constant 35 FPS average and this does not change when the hiccup occurs.
Any suggestions?
