I found that I have solved the trouble by turning 'down' the graphics. I had everything selected at max and was getting multiple quits. When I went in and put everything at medium the quits stopped happening and now it is running smooth and trouble free. I have not experimented with adjusting to see what I can get away with. I find that with all set to medium I don't notice any loss of detail so I think I will leave it and be happy with what I have. The worst mission was the one where it was raining in the city.
