They also give the demo away with some copies of : 3ds max 5 for dummies

As I write this there are about 10 copies on e bay (one advertised with the CD for about $3 dollars current bid)

Unfortunately the book isn't as good as the max bible but you'll learn more from this site anyhow.

In the way of gr modding anyways. Alot of topics covered in those books will not apply much to GR modding, as there are many things that you can do in max that will not transfer smoothly into gr. As for max in general, they are excelent references.

Ok, I am new to this - love the GR game and I have read about a 1000 posts as far as modding, map making and IGOR with selection of different variables. My 1 and only question is: Where can I find a usable copy of 3d Max that will work with making maps on GR?? I have been to several web sites looking for the v4 needed to do this and have been offered v8 several times, emails several companies to get v4 and told either to look on E-Bay (none found) or contact original software co for older copies (done that, no way).

Any help appreciated. Thanks.
