  1. Im glad to see the tone of this thread damning where the damning is due. It isnt the developers who futz up the games.

    Its the publishers.

    They rush, cut budget, make unkeepable promises without even checking on development. So the developers cut corners under pressure, cut content so a publisher can make a follow up, skimp on QA to meet the publishers insane release dates and so on. All under a threat of "shelving" your creation.

    Mob tactics. Maybe thats a good term for what publisher put the houses through....

  2. Although confusing I think I get what your saying. Though I don't know anyone who has lived through any hostile contact who has a kill kill kill attitude. And as a matter of point, war is a political tool. RoE is to make sure that people and places that aren't involved stay out of harms way, we hope, and to make sure the reason for the conflict isn't ruined. An Army is a projection of power and should only be used as a last resort. At least thats in a perfect world. We know that isnt the case. We were deployed in South America by a prior administration for 4 months and never fired a shot. Just by having US troops on the ground the tesions were resolved. No kill kill kill. Those who show that trait rarely make it out of a support role.

    I don't know how to respond to the dog and Aussies thing. To far out in left field for me.

    But back to the topic at hand. Spawn Killing is looked down on on most servers. Not just the Old Gits server.(DoG) And judging by the helpful comments and suggestions within the thread we aren't alone. If I join your server I'd do my best to follow your rules. Were just asking others do the same with ours.

  3. If Grin works like other houses then GRAW2 was in the works before GRAW was released. Also consider that it may be made like the Call of Duty games. Full versions that mesh with the existing game. Yes GRAW2 may be a stand alone but the MP maps could all be run on the same server.

    So on the MP end you are just gaining whatever improvements have been made for the GRAW2 release plus additional maps added to the GRAW maps.

    I was almost a lifer. 20 years till my knee gave out and age took over. 3 theaters of war in that time. None of them "fun" but all "real life".

    It is a game we play and has the rules of a game. And yes, even war there are rules. RoE is stressed everyday your in the field. That said the no spawn killing is like the RoE of the server and should be followed.

    I'm really glad this game isn't "like the real world" or "real war". I'm glad we can have fun in an area that isn't at all fun in "the real world".

    Also in the "real world" if one guy stumbles on an enemy LZ he isn't gonna light it up. Odds and common sense rule that out.

    Roco we have a 8 sec spawn protection and granted our main problem isn't people going into the spawn areas. It's frags and shooting into the spawn from outside. I think I might try the max deaths though. See how it effects the attendence on the server. We shall see.

  5. On our server (british paras) we play a lot of siege and don`tr allow spawn rape in the attackers spawn...We punish this with a server kill rather than a kick and kill anyone who goes into the spawn even if they get no kills..

    Last night i server killed someone who came back whining he only got one kill and wouldn`t shut up about it..For this he got kicked but usually we find that a server kill or in extreme cases 2 server kills is enough to show people not to spawn rape.

    During the hours on our server where the majority of the players and admins are from the UK, we have very little problem with the rules being broken. I might have to readjust my work schedule and play then.

  6. It's shocking the amount of spawn killing that takes hold in un admined servers. No matter the game mode. Some of the MP maps almost promote it in GRAW. I for one am of the opinion that if you've beat the other team back into the spawn then thats war. But my clan is not of that opinion so I enforce thier view. It's a raging headache and leaves little or no time to playhaving to admin on most of the GRAW MP maps.

    It is on a server to server basis as to how its enforced and thats as it should be. I believe our server is one of the strictest in where you can or can't shoot. We don't allow shooting or frags into or out of the spawns. Nor opfors into the spawns. It's a nightmare. But we recruit from other game types and want new players to enjoy the game as much as possable.

    I believe a huge part of the problem is many players don't take time to read the load page or in game text. I say this because I tend to look for the best in people. I don't know. But a few friends I've made from other clans, say BDA, have made it easier for me. I used to work on a 3 strike basis. Warn, warn, warn kick. Repeat ban 2 hours. Repeat ban 24 hours. Repeat ban. Now its warn, ban 2 hours. Warn, ban 24 hours. Ban.

    Like I said, headache.

  7. I hate consoles. I mean what is the point playing with something that lacks control and requires snap to aiming. I rather be owned by someone with skill then be lumped in with all of the other snap to console players.

    I used to work for Red Storm. The party line coming from Ubi last year was all concole all the time. If we dont make our PC voices heard it will go that way. Hell I believe sometimes sys reqs are set high to entice people to abandon thier PCs and go to the dumb box.

    Anywho my two cents.

  8. Nope. I set her up to run at night. The machine stands alone. No power reductions, sleep or interferance. Some of the peices of road are totally black while others seem to have a mystery shadow cast on the corner.

  9. Im sorry if this has been asked before. I havent had time to read back to much. On my last export several patches of two lane road rendered black. Does this have something to do with forcing lights near by? Also when looking at the over head map there seems to be a pattern to it. Weird...

  10. I have seen one of my betas on some of the servers that has been done up to coop. How did they open the file to change it? Not that I mind people enjoying my stuff, but I'm erked that changes were made without my fore knowledge. So anyone know how they did it? The map is AG_The_Wall_beta1 btw. Let me know if you liked it. Ive switched clans since then. I was AG_Auslander..... :blink:
