Actually the XM8 is a development from the carbine element of the OICW. If HK and ATK can't get the XM29 (OICW)'s weight down, the XM8 and XM25 will be used instead. In fact according to Army plans, most troops would not get the XM29 anyway. Just squad/platoon leaders. The rest would have "traditional" weapons, like product improved M16s/M4s, M249's and now XM8s.

The XM8 is actually the carbine element from the XM29 (OICW) weapon system ATK and HK are having trouble getting the weight of the XM29 down to acceptable levels. Instead of scrapping the whole project, the Army decided to split the XM29 into its component parts, which have become the XM8 and XM25. The XM25 is the 20mm grennade launcher from the XM29

Did anyone see the Re-release of Gatchaman? The art was beautiful, but they rushed the story, and crapped it out. It seems the plots of Anime either follow a video game format, progressively tougher badguys til the hero meets the "boss" or the smoother you in dime store sentimentality and think they're expounding heavy philisophical principles.

Yeah I've seen it. Macross II was pretty lame. I hate it when the cool mecha designs get trapped in a lousy plot. Macross Plus at least had great animation, but it didn't develop all the plot elements, so it seemed a little rushed. Ghost in the Shell started strong and ended odd. Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D 2000 were solid. Metropolis was wierd, but they're movies not series. All of the Patlabors took themselves so seriously they stalled.

I can see where chems is coming from. I think people make 'em because there is some much reference material for them. ANd with good references you can make a good model. But I'm a bit surprised that people are still making M4s when the XM8s family has now been announced. These are pretty damn cool weapons. Sharpshooter Carbine with XM320 40mmGL In addition to these guys there are LMG and CQB versions Snowfella, I'd love to see you make one of these instead of an M4, although an M4 by you would be pretty damn cool too
