  1. Grr They didn't add my sharks with laserbeams coming out of there eyes on Lagoon!!

    LOL

    Sorry had to do it.

Anyway... for Server admins this is the most important part of the patch

    - Fixed some faulty server settings.

As for the M99... and GL. They are balanced. You know why? because you can take one too!

Seriously though, GL gives you some advantage in close quarters for the 1st 2 kills. Then your stuck with no scope and a more limited close quarter weapon. AKA a sitting duck.

M99 can shoot from afar but is so loud it's easy to point out where it came from. You can shotgun with it, but then again you could get GL'd or hand naded before you round that corner.

Pick a kit that can counter it if you think it's such a problem.

Anyway... CAN'T WAIT TILL MONDAY WOOT!

    Ahhahha

You know, I have one simple request. And that is to have sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads! Now evidently my cycloptic colleague informs me that that cannot be done. Ah, would you remind me what I pay you people for, honestly? Throw me a bone here! What do we have?

    MONDAY MONDA MONDAY! Can't wait....GJ.

  2. Are you trying to say I need to download some modtools and crap in patch? Why not make separate tools for those three people who wants them? As we saw in GRAW there isnt any good map makers here, only horrific tryouts released by modders.

There isnt note about sound issues, but pls fix that machinegun sound what is only thing I hear if some one is using it. Very annoying.

Unless you have a 14k dialup download, you shouldn't care less if the mod tools are included in the patch.

No good map makers here? Are you serious? Play any of the SCE maps for GRAW1? Those maps were well planned and well made. I forgot who exactly was responsible for creating them, but I can't wait to see what these guys come up with next.

  3. many of the issues discussed on this forum are being incorporated into this patch, such as M99/GL issues

Is this really an issue? GL's have always been a part of the Ghost Recon series, learn to work around it, live with it or move on to something else. The M99 can be adjusted(made heavier), but it is not such an advantage as is stated in some of the threads. Its a single shot bolt action rifle...make the guy miss and the ball is in your court. Personally I rarely use it, but its a great weapon and would be missed. Enough crying about it already.

As Wolf said one patch at a time. People cried that there was no editor, looks like we're getting it. Collision around certain objects in MP was a problem, looks like that was attended to.

If they held out for much longer to include everything, there would be bitching and moaning about a patch taking too long.

Your attention to support is appreciated GRIN. BTW.....for a guy who play 95% TDM MP, there are some issues, but none that hold this game back from being a winner. Currently it is very matchable. Would love to see "Save Replays" in the future if its possible, but overall GJ.

  4. ....I could see how a female that plays the game would like a female character model for MP & SP.

Remember for SP, the main character is Mitchell, personally don't like the idea of a "main character"...."The Adventures of Captain Mitchell & His Merry Band of Misfits" So somewhere in the extended characters there would have to be a female added...one reason why the 3 squad, use any member in any squad setup from GR1 was sick for SP...same setup in RavenShield SP.....

...however I wouldn't like to see a kit loadout that forces a female character model in MP it should be an option.

Edit:For MP....how about in your profile, you can choose Male or Female.....I think it was like that in RavenShield, and it would send out the "Threat Neutralized" quote in a female voice.....due to the helmet and mask, it wasn't necessary to have different character models.

  5. Wow...really cool.....I bet it has nice airflow...... nice comparisons to the death star. :alien: I hope you did a better job of protecting the Main Reactor than the Empire did. :starwars: Don't let the design plans fall get into the wrong hands, or attack will be imminent, those damn Bothans are wiley. Also...nice teddy bear.. :hehe:

  6. I have these 2 fonts someone gave me to use for a project, and they are not readable for my machine. I have tried TransType with them in both the Mac OSX environment & Windows XP. I think they are beyond repair at this point. I have searched all over the web for them and only found one of them in a collection for $185. I don't think so. These 2 fonts seem to be pretty rare.

I am looking for fonts called:

    HardTack

    and Writtenhouse, or Scrawl Writtenhouse

If anyone could help me out it would be appreciated.

  7. I find that a "tactical" game in third person is a bit of an oxymoron. You have a unfair/unrealistic view of the battlefied that you wouldn't ordinarily have. Its the roving 3d camera....hard to truly sneak up on someone that can revolve the camera around his body and view it from all angles.

Also felt like it was the reason I never really got into SOCOM. It has a great premise minus the really linear Single player, but that 3rd person cam really bugs me.

Also if you have 3rd person as an option in MP, the 3rd person cams have an advantage I feel. Say you sneak up on someone, they are on the other side of a rock/fence or something, they can 360 view their body and possibly see you, where as in 1st person you have to figure it out by sound. The Ghost Recon series should never have gone there, and hopefully it never comes to the PC.

  8. Roco....were you going on one of your runs again? If you were sucking, your * character wouldn't even be a question. You gotta love this society we live in today. If your good at something your automatically chalked up as a cheater. :bs: . If you like a certain weapon your a noob(f'n ridiculous if you aske me).

There has been a lot of crying on the MP servers since the release of GRAW2....I thik its time to invest some cash in Kleenex stock......

I was on Arroyo, using M416 w/scope about to fire the weapon at enemy , game crashed. Roco was still in the server and said it reported "Altered Game Files" when I dropped.

  10. My most recent opinion is that maybe it is still too early to tell. As players get more comfortable with weapons/kit load-outs for every map, and more familiar with every map, the opinions may change. Personally I know I still am getting comfortable with it, especially with all the time logged in GRAW. THe gameplay stlye and feel are different enough to have to get completely comfortable again, throw in learning new maps, and I still feel it may be too early to pigeon hole any kit. I have not felt at all like it is completely unbalanced one way or another...let it sink in a bit more. BTW, I have been playing a lot of MP and I don't see this ridiculous amount of GL'ing and M99'ing that is being talked about.... I am also starting to really like to No Re-Spawn games and don't really think this whole issue really matters in a no respawn game.

    Just my opinion.

  11. The only thing wrong with the current weapons is the collision detection with objects, in general the weapons are good and the characteristics are ok as well. The lack of wounding is a missing element, that's why the other rifles look so poor, cos the M99 normally does not wound, it kills.

Great point. If we had a wound damage model that caused limping/stunning/slowing down/knock down, this whole issue wouldn't even exist. M14 sniper or any other gun hits enemy, enemy wounded, doesn't have a chance to run off or turn and shoot like nothing happened. M14 sniper (or insert any gun here) hits him again and gets kill.

  12. in my opinion it is a noob weapon AND much too strong in the hand of a high skilled player

Exactly. It is much too strong especially in the hands of a highly skilled player. That's accurate as to what the M99 truly is, an accurate powerful .50 cal sniper rifle. Almost to the point of overkill. I don't happen to be that skilled with the M99, but that doesn't mean I want it banned, and it certainly doesn't make anyone a "noob" for using it. That's just ridiculous. I would argue that the true weight of it and how it is handled needs to be tweaked a bit, thats about it.

  13. Play on a server with no respawns, and it is a totally different game. The playing field definitely gets leveled. We had all sorts of different kit load outs last night on the no respawn server, i think it was BSR? Great server, real fun games, reminded me of the old days.

What I am getting at is that without the respawns the sniper doesn't have the advantage of camping a spot and just racking up kills over and over while players cross a known route. It also gets the disadvantage when it comes to CQB as you zero in on him. Gl'ers only get their 2 gl's and without the respawn, that's it. Personally after playing no respawns last night, I saw more of "what this game is supposed to be" including how it becomes more tactical, immersive, heart pounding, and balanced.

  14. OMG, that M82A1 is not messing around.

The M99 is a great weapon. I personally use different weapons all the time. There are a few disadvantages to the M99. Loud! easy to pinpoint the sniper. Bolt action. 1 shot. I don't know how many times I have been killed using the M99 while trying to reload. It also tracks a bit slower than it did in GRAW1, meaning it is not a smooth while zoomed in and trying to acquire a moving target. Yes it is more powerful than the other sniper guns, but that is just the reality of the gun. It a .50 cal rifle!!! The advantage the other sniper rifles have over the M99 is the semi-auto fire and clip size. So if you hit in the head with the other 2 you have an instant kill, and no reload time for your next target.

Maybe if we had something like a sprint speed differential for the amount of weight carried, and gun readiness time for different rifle weights. THe heavier the gun, the slower you sprint, and the slower the closing of your reticule will be?

I would hate to see the M99 disappear altogether.

  15. Seriously noobish on the subject, but I do have 3d design experience, and I know modding for GRAW somehow uses 3DS. I have some familiarity with 3DS although most of my 3D training is in Lightwave 3D.

What version of 3DS should I be looking to pick up if I want to mess around with GRAW modding?

What would I use 3DS for specifically? Creating custom weapons/maps/ terrain?

I would mostly be interested in trying, and trying being the key word, to create some maps.

If anyone who mods ever needs help with texture creation, please PM me. I know I can help out in that department.
