I am in the process of trying to find 3d software other than 3dsm 3-4 to use as platform to build maps. I'ts almost impossible to find the program and there are a number of open source software platforms that have the same or more capabilites as 3dsm.
The rub is finding the structure of the .map file. John Sondecker, who wrote the export script for the 3ds plugin is has become very hard to find. I am wondering if anyone out there has information on the how the map file is structured. If I can find this out, I can write a new script in python or tcl/tk to work with some of the 3d platfor
