Upon looking at the Error message i see that I had D3D Overrider running... to lock Vertical Sync... I stopped running it and NOW IT WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have Ghost Recon on Steam and with the CDs and it only puts out the Error: GhostRecon.exe has stopped working error with Windows 7. I must C,A,D, to get the cursor then close it. I tried using Almost All the compat modes and all the other boxes too. Run as an Admin and some others just pop up the User Account OK box over and over endlessly until you say no twice. Using 16bit Desktop res or editing the options.xml to 32bit z buffer does nothing either. I saw this error elsewhere on forums and the suggestions did not work.

SOLVED .. the bug with me was Running D3D Overider.exe. Now it works.

  3. I have the GHOST RECON and DS, IT and installed a lot of mods as needed. Getting back into the game. My DELL 24 inch LCD runs at 1920x1200. The game says it will run that at 32 or 16 bit color. But no matter what res I choose in Options it only will stay at the default 640x480 and the monitor will expand it but set for 1.1 it is a tiny box in the middle. It will not change the res at all. I looked at the OPTION.xml to try to edit it, but I cannot change the words there for some reason and it says there 800x600 which it does not go to.

I have an X800xt PE, 3200 amd athlon 2GB ram able to go online with 1.4 patch.

Set the Catalyst to app pref or 6x 16x and same.

Well I fixed it or it was always OK.. the game just stays at the low RES in options etc but kicks into the chosen RES ONLY when the game starts it seems.

Do you have Dell's monitor driver installed? GR looks at the monitor driver to detect what resolutions it can run the game at.

I have the same graphics card as you (X800XT PE) and a 20" Dell WS LCD, and run GR1 with no probs.

    Check here for more info:

    http://forums.3dretreat.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5996

If all else fails, try running GR in window mode:

    http://ghostrecon.3dretreat.com/dedicated_server.asp#window

seems to run AT 640 ONLY until the maps start to load.. then it goes to the requested RES. I forgot that or never noticed...
