  1. Doorstop- Wasn't your ODA in Newsweek? Been over to socnetcentral.com/vb ? Stay safe. HoosGhost
  2. There are lots of already created vehicles on the web available for download for free. I don't think many of them are skinned. Yell at Private First Class Google about it and he'll help out. HoosGhost
  3. My feelings echo those of the combat vets and TheBlakeness. Honor the memory of all those who served. Those that do "special" things never seek limelight or spotlight; it is because they do so much that ordinary civilians know so little about, we should respect their wishes, the wishes of their familes and their brothers in arms, waiting to join them at the heavenly ORP. Especially after visiting the USS Arizona memorial last week. If any of you have the opportunity in your lives to visit Hawaii, make sure you stop by. Many of the men who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor have chosen to be cremated and buried with their shipmates who are forever entombed in Arizona. This is a bond few who have not served in any upstanding military will ever experience. There were no veterans on my tour of the Arizona memorial, but I did shake the hand of a crewmember of her sister ship the New Jersey. I'd like to see any threads mentioning the events of 7-9 October 1993 in Mogadishu immediately locked. I'd rather someone spent the time reading Mark Bowden's book than playing a game. And if you're done with Mr. Bowden's book, I have plenty more to recommend. FWIW: the Medal of Honor games are almost all in poor taste. YMMV. HoosGhost
  4. Mis dos pesos: There are many different conflicts that perhaps could have involved any number of special operations forces from a myriad of countries that have not been explored. With the provided maps, those maps publicly released by GR fans and a knowledge of IGOR, the possibilities are endless. Some ideas: 1. Using the maps from the original GR campaign and IT, along with some of the user created mods, I'd like to see a narcotics interdiction campaign by American and British special operations forces in Belize and Nicaragua. 2. Using Earl's Spetznaz <forgive my lack of knowledge of Russian>, I'd like to see an Afghanistan campaign, using the desert maps of DS and the alpine maps of the original campaign. 3. Mop-up operations revisiting the maps in the original GR campaign to subdue the ultranationalist forces who have become guerillas. 4. I'd like to see assassination missions, ambush missions, missions requiring time limits and precise timing as well as stealth missions in any campaign. YMMV HoosGhost
  5. Methinks they meant Morning time in Oahu. Hoos
  6. I'm familiar with the South African, in addition to Russian, American and Cuban intervention in Angola and Gambia in the 1970's. Although, I don't think a modification about one of the Cold War's dirtiest conflicts with insinuations of genocide and war crimes would be in good taste. Especially considering the human rights implications in South African specifically and in Southern Africa in general in those times. None of those involved was particularly innocent, and perhaps because of such times in Angola, Angolans and their neighbors struggle so much now. My $0.02 and YMMV. Ryan- we can take our debate of Cold War foreign policy to another forum. Not a flame, nor an attempt to hijack the thread. HoosGhost
  7. I'd second a Clear and Present Danger modification. It's one of Clancy's best books (The best is clearly Without Remorse). There are plenty of weapons to deal with and it would have two storylines running concurrently: -The CIA group of soldiers sent to shut down drug operations, run by Clark (Willem Dafoe is a casting goof in the movie; he was better in Boondock Saints) -Jack Ryan missions gathering intelligence in Panama and Columbia. Maps from IT would help greatly. Perhaps a retexture from the original GR campaign into jungle, the first map and the mountain map come to mind, along with a modified swamp map. Weapons would be easy to find and the skins could be the stock ones or modified ones. YMMV. Hoos
  8. I've been waiting sinceJuly for this one. And i happen to have some time tomorrow to play instead of studying...Can't wait. Thanks to all DTD and the testers. SC, your comments and discerning observations on DTD's own forum will only increase my enjoyment of the mod. Thanks. Hoos
  9. It's not necessarily legal to discuss such things. If you have even a moderate idea of where to look, you'll find it with a high speed internet connection. Taking this route however deprives you of technical support and updates. It's also theft. You can get 3DSM with an educational license for about 2/3 of the retail price. Investing in the software suite and becoming competent can land you a great job. But no one will higher you if you steal the software you use; i know i wouldn't. Contact CompUSA or Staples at there 1-800 numbers for further details. Next time, try using the seach button. This topic has been covered ad naseum. And no, you can't use other 3D modeling suites for any RSE games. Good Luck- Hoos **Admins/Mods, I hope I have not overstepped my bounds. I apologize if I have.
  10. Big. Fat. BUMP Anyone heard any news regarding the beta test? I thought this one was to have a short <read: 4 month> beta test . I'm a giant fan of DTD, and there hasn't been an update since 20031106. I saw the mission teasers on the DTD website. I, along with others have been drooling over this one since it's announcement, many moons ago. Any beta testers care to shed some light on what's going on? Hoos
  11. DTD- " Still waiting. But with the progress shown on the forums on your site, I'm going to be patient. Isabel flooded school and knocked down all the trees, so I'm at home until this weekend. So I'm now patiently waiting because I know that the campaign will be much better than the teaser screen shots. Oh yea, DTD/Mission Scripters/Beta testers: y'all tease like one of my ex-girlfriends. Bravo Zulu so far gents, HoosGhost
  12. Not to rain on your parade, as there is a hurricane bearing down upon where I'm seated, but do you have the permission of the team that developed FROSTBITE to modify their work AND release it? HoosGhost
  13. I haven't posted, much less played GR in quite some time. This particular MOD brought me back into the fold. This is truly an outstanding add-on. I would argue that Frostbite is on par, if not superior to RSEs own Desert Seige and Island Thunder. Bravo Zulus all around. HoosGhost
