LOL yah, I a few copies of [GR]. I got [GR] free with a video card a while back. After you patched it up to 1.3 or 1.4 it would tell you "Please insert the original CD" when you tried to play. The CD that came with the card (ATI 9800 pro) was either bootleg or the guys that patched the game didn't take it into account.

Why does that look like a complete photoshop? The box, the logos, etc...

Alternately you could just put the server up on gamespy and have the other computers add its LAN ip to the favorites (192.168.x.x)

Why start now? Well it doesn't work on anyone for long. Most players know how to counter it now....it only extends the learning curve a bit. Not to mention, at close range tactics are completely different. Everyone walks around while they're shooting, it makes it just a little harder for the other guy.

Was that durring the lag spike? I'm thinking something on the router could be causing issues if its not your ISP. For instance if you have anything in your ACL that does "log" to console, and and that gets triggered, it may cause slow down. See what it says during a 999 spike... but its probably more related to your ISP.

I'm sorry but I don't understand. Can you fraps it, compress it, and upload it to Youtube if no one else knows what you mean? Peeking left and right against a wall may be a little different because the character is right handed. Get too close to the wall when you're peeking left and the gun goes down.

Possibly a traffic spike in your neighborhood. I wonder if we can think of a test where you upload data non stop for an hour on bandwidth prime time to see if it drops below the normal rate. Does it usually happen between about 3pm to 9pm?

Try a show process cpu history and make sure the router's cpus isn't maxed out on something.

One of your resources is tapped: CPU or Bandwidth. Easiest way to tell is to see if a computer on the LAN gets a 999 ping or not.

No one can be immortal, since its basically decided on your computer or on the server if your bullets hit the guy. Some players like me use a side step at range that requires you to constantly re-aim at them.

Techinically under "program files\Ubisoft\Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\Settings\servers" there is a file with this entry: <port value="15250"/> I don't necesarilly recommend changing it, especially since you're having trouble getting people into the server. Also if you change the port and people use the "Add IP" to favorites option, they won't see the server.

I have the old version of firedeamon if find that the new version is a POS.

A power outage won't reset the config, someone would have to hit the little reset button. Unless its a Cisco IOS router, in which case you have to do a "copy run start" to save the running config to flash.

Just to clarify, only the server needs to forward those ports if it is behind a router.

Naw don't try to run two servers on one box, too many issues. The nice thing is the 2nd core takes care of all the background services and stuff. Look for games in the future to be multi-threaded to take advantage of multiple cores as Intel and AMD both have Quad core solutions coming down the pipe.

Hey theef, I noticed you're from New York which tends to be the best place to have a server between a European and a U.S. team, because all the fibre from Europe comes in there. With all the Inter-country matches on PGL and similar sites, you may be an asset the the community as a volunteer nuetral host...
