  1. I thought about changing the actual reticule that we have in the game, but I can't seem to find it in either patch.bundle or quick.bundle. The other problem is that I also want to change what the scope looks like zoomed in (I hate those orange bars), but I can't find that texture either. Can someone please explain to me where they are in the textures directory?

I'm also using the Gimp to view these files (using the dds plugin), but I can't seem to view the texture properly. All I see is the a gray checkerboard with an occasional dark spot here or there. I'm new to using the gimp for this kind of thing (all I used it for in the past was touching up on photos I have). Can someone help me with this as well?

  2. You do not need to extract the entire bundle, just what you need (I have Papa's mod down to something like 10mb plus my own stuff rather than his 1.5gb simply by getting rid of excess files). As for figuring out what does what....well, it's a pain in the rear, but trial and error is all you can really do. :)

  3. Rather than making my own thread about this issue, I figured I'd post it here. I've got the scope added to the SCAR-L and SCAR-H, and it works just fine in SP, but after I load a LAN [GR] Coop game the game crashes a few seconds after it loads and I'm in the main lobby. The message looks like this:

    Crash in application version: grpcrc1.30

data\lib\units\extensions\inventory.dsf(-1): cant set this to a value (type: <void>)

    SCRIPT STACK

    data\lib\units\extensions\inventory.dsf(0)

    data\lib\units\extensions\inventory.dsf(0)

    data\lib\managers\groupmanager.dsf(0)

    data\lib\units\extensions\groupunit.dsf(0)

    data\lib\units\extensions\groupunit.dsf(0)

    data\lib\units\extensions\groupunit.dsf(0)

    Any idea what's causing this?

EDIT: Dur, should have made sure I used the file from the patch.bundle and not the quick.bundle. Problem solved, but left here for those who do the same (stupid) mistake.

  4. Go into your GRAW directory and open up the context.xml file using Notepad or something like ConTEXT. From there look for the following line:

    <script base="data" exec="menu/menu" editor="false" language="mod"/>

The part in bold, namely "mod," should be the name of the folder that's located in your local directory. Most people use "english" since it is the default. Also, make sure the mods are in the right folders in the mod folder (if that makes any sense).

  5. Indeed, it was good while it lasted. I'm sure a lot of folks share my sentiment that we hate to see you go out like this because some of some folks apparent lack of respect. You did a damn fine job on these models and I was hoping to see more from you (like the older stuff in your portfolio on your website, very nice work), but your decision to back down is understandable. Time to get 21 folks together for a full-auto M4 salute.....

  6. Is it possible this immersion killing feature?

Ok i have another question. Ill post here instead of making another thread. Is there way to set up a server to make the game more realistic for all players?

IE, cancelling aimed zoom (except for sniper rifle of course)

    turning off the reticule

    taking off ammunition counts

    turning off kill notifications

    etc :D

    Thanks guys

I just noticed this thread, and I've been working on a mod like this for the past day or two. It's still pretty low on features and such, but it's in the works :)

  7. for those of you who are hard-on fans of GRAW don't be. GRAW has to be the worst excuse and the greatest waste of effort to create. Damn, I keep getting booted! this game SHOULD be named GR: always disconnected. kind of like shooting craps, you never know what the dice will show. I DEMAND an apology from UBI and GRIN for this 4 CD waste of PC harddrivce space. crap for my $50 i deserve a hell of a lot more than complete silence and being ignored.

First off, who are you to tell people what to think? Just because they disagree with you doesn't mean they're wrong. Second, GRAW was supported very well for over 4 months, more than you can say about many other games out there these days.

maybe Grin needs to contract out the MP net coding. Diesel sucks farts from a bathtub and gamespy is for sludge sucking noobs who have no clue how to game on a PC.

Words can't even describe how childish this makes you look..... :wall:

GRAW2 will be another suck of resources and a waste of yet more harddrive space and if Diesel is used again don't waste your time! why the hell would any idiot want to pay a ton of cash and upgrade to Vista only to find out that the game is another waste of time.

Just like every other game coming out in the next year? Try the new Splinter Cell, or what and see what Crysis has in store. Games are making more use out of the hardware than ever before, and hardware is getting better by the day. See the dilemma?

advice: DO NOT EVER!, upgrade your PC for one game. 9 out of 10 times you'll be disappointed. I hold GRIN AND UBISOFT personally and financially responsible for blatantly ripping me and everyone else who feels robbed off.

Personal preference if you ask me. Besides, like it was stated before, any upgrade to your system isn't going to benefit just one game. Wouldn't it be smarter to see how the game runs on your current hardware before deciding if it's worth upgrading for or not? That would allow you to do two things: 1) Decide whether you're going to be playing the game for a while or not. I upgraded specifically for Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. I have been playing that game on a regular basis since well before April. Do I think the upgrade was worth it? Hell yeah. 2) Decide whether or not your current rig allows you to play the game at what you think is reasonable. If your current rig doesn't handle the game well and you think you'll be playing it for a while, why not upgrade?

there is absolutely No excuse for this crap to have happened. I'm so sick of patch after patch and after bloody patch only to have the same bugs and problems exist. I'm NOT going to buy GRAW2. I'd feel awefully stupid upgrading my PC for GRAW2 only to be sitting here again ###### beyond all belief!

We didn't get "patch after patch after bloody patch." What we DID receive was "MP Pack after MP Pack after bloody MP Pack." They just happened to add a few bug fixes here and there with these map packs, much like Halo 2's map pack for the XBox. As for upgrading your rig, see above.

Shame on you UBISOFT and GRIN. a wise man once taught me, the first impression is the lasting one. this BS will be engraved in my mind forever

And it has also been said never judge a book by it's cover. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone learns.

  8. 1) have another developer to make the game that isn't so damn system intensive requiring folks to take out mortgages to even get the game playable. 2) would love to have a game that wasn't in reality a BETA. Crap, for $50 i paid for GRAW, I'd have gotten a decent hooker in a german redlight district! 3) the only good thing about my child support that just started is I might be able to prevent myself from buying crappy titles Like GRAW. I play it but with little excitement. i can't mod it because it will prevent me from playing on most gamespy servers. 4) Gamespy. this is the one thing in my mind that tells me that this game would suck. Gamespy is a big name, craptacular online gaming system that most online gamers who are serious about their games enjoyment, would even consider to install.

there was a time before splintercell DA was released, that splintercell was the only title not to be buggared by the likes of UBISOFT. now, THAT franchise and all the lot are one pile of stinking cow turds

    Ugh.....

    1) You know you could build a PC for around $1,200 or so that would run GRAW rather well, don't you? Most of you just need to upgrade your graphics cards, and that you can do for less than $300 to be able to run the game on high settings, about $150 for medium/low settings.

    2) It may have been a beta in your mind (along with many others here), but beta means it's in the last stages before production and final release, regardless of bugs. By definition this game was a beta in any reality.

    3) Taste is different for everyone. Think of the one positive thing about not being able to use custom skins - you can't make a bright orange or blue to make it easier to spot your enemies. Plenty of that has happened in the past.

    4) This I agree with. I hate having to register an e-mail for every account I make for GRAW. No game should have this since it becomes a pain in the ass to remember your password for a game you haven't played in a while to use your online profile. Flat out stupid.

  9. You must not have been on for a bit... i haven't seen TAW's full in a while. Usually BDA, Phantom Warfare (no GL ARRGH), Sometimes Core when there not on custom maps, Titans of war (co-op), and now and then AttackforceZ will have 15 or so players.

Sorry Roco, but the Titans of War server is down as of the 10th of this month. :(

  10. My 7900GTX runs GRAW at 1680x1050 rather well. I never see it dip below 40fps in heavy firefights and it usually hovers around 50-60fps. I would LOVE to get my hands on a 8800GTX, but as it is it would probably be smarter to wait and see what ATI comes up with. That, or when the 8800 cards go down from their current 90nm process to 65nm. Or switch over to DDR4 memory rather than DDR3. I still don't understand that decision....

    :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Looking at that, you wouldn't think any hardware could run GRAW at higher resolutions. Think what you will, but I have FRAPS running at all times when I play any game, and I stand by my statement. In a multiplayer match I never see a dip into the 30's (except some of the harder [GR] Coop maps). You also have to remember that these benchmarks are run on some of the most demanding parts of the game. Benchmarks are great, but rarely reflect real world performance.

EDIT: Oh, and while looking at some G80 benchmarks, I found one where they did it with GRAW. The 7900GTX averaged 45fps at 1600x1200 :) But damn.....if only all of us had a 8800GTX.....especially in SLI!

  11. I just ordered a Medusa 5.1 ProGaming Edition last night, and it supposedly shipped today. Since this is the newer version of the Medusa 5.1, once i get it I can let you know how well it works th33f.

  12. correct me if i'm wrong. But i'm pretty sure that even with that card you still will not be able to use anti-aliasing. Now nvidia has made HDR work with AA, which is something ATI has had for a while. What you will notice is that you would be able to run GR:AW at a much higher resolution with in turn would take some jaggedness away and make it look better. But GR:AW still runs using deferred lighting(i think it was called) and so it will never be able to use AA. Unless they develop hardware that can do that.

It's not that it can't use AA, it's that current hardware isn't good enough to run the type of AA that could be used with deferred lighting. I believe that's how it went.
