Hey look - it's another influx of wan.kers.
GRIN don't pay them any attention. They need to get laid. Seriously.
Hey, I got censored for a similar statement yesterday!
-
I keep telling you GRiN guys (I think this is the third): Just change the game name with the next patch. Maybe "Buckaroo Bonzai and the Mystical Pogosticks of Gilgamesh."

Really, is it that hard to edit quotes to the relevant text only, so that I don't break my mouse wheel scrolling to the bottom? LOL

This is a transcript from an interview done a year ago on computerandvideogames.com:
Ubisoft talks Ghost Recon: Advanced WarfighterTuesday 28-Jun-2005 10:53 AM Producer on Advanced Warfighter pinned down to discuss the PC version of the tactical shooter sequel
Earlier today we brought news of Ubisoft's re-branding of its tactical shooter sequel Ghost Recon 3 - it's now called Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter - and presented a tasty trailer for download. Now continuing the GR love is an interview with Advanced Warfighter producer Mathieu Girard on the PC version of the follow-up - which is a collaboration between Ubisoft and developer GRIN.
Can you please explain to us the main differences between the first opus of Ghost Recon and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter?
Girard: Actually, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter has a lot in common with the features that the fans loved in the first opus, the features from a tactical shooter. We have however improved and increased these tactical features, taking advantage of the technology that the soldiers of the future will use. The other big difference is of course the visual quality which will benefit from the latest next-gen PC rendering and effect. Finally, multiplayer expands towards new modes which also take advantage of our new tactical layer and near-future context.
Observations:
1) The pre-release name was Ghost Recon 3
2) The sub-title refers to it as a sequel, but the first paragraph refers to it as "re-branding" AND "sequel."
3) This Girard guy is the producer, so I guess it's all his fault.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
MY EYES!MY EYES!
I was informed that replies should be sincere, well composed posts only; that sarcastic, smark-alec replies are neither appreciated nor tolerated.
Huh...weird....

Thank God. Almost 30 seconds lapsed before another negative thread was started.
If you got nothing useful to say then don't say anything at all. Just be quiet and read, or be quiet and go to another thread.
LOL Okay tough guy.

I've talked to a number of hosting companies as well. Since there is no stand alone server software right now, you need the full version to host. In order to run the full version, you need an adequate video card, which most servers do not.
When the stand alone server software is available (July?) there will be plenty to choose from. Unlike BF2 servers, they do not have to be dedicated.
-
Absolutely not. The point I am trying to make is even the GR newcomers, such as myself, can have valid input.
However, the cat is out of the bag. If it is that bad, move on because the game is not going to change. There are still vibrant and lively gaming communities dedicated to "older" games because people did not like the successors.

Here's a legit suggestion for GRiN:
Add a 3rd person view, but instead of you looking over your own shoulder, it should be your wife or girlfriend looking over your shoulder telling you how you're doing it all wrong. Now THAT would be immersive!

I refer to my previous post:
' date='Jun 29 2006, 02:14 PM' post='393333']It's kind of difficult for me to relate to these guys who just got here or weren't active in the community until just recently when the flashy new game came out. So, to you guys, don't take offense, when you've been around for awhile longer and GR4 or 5 is released, I think you'll have something more solid to stand on.
That's irrelevant. I've played "series" games before. If the sequel does not live up to ones expectaions, or deviates too much from the original and offends ones sensibilities, simply move on. The principle of the argument is still valid, whether one applies it to GR, Splinter Cell, Myst, or any other series.
Not trying to pick a fight here or start an argument. Just pointing out a logical inconsistency.

Sounds like Aussie humour to me - great by the way.
Chicago...Thanks!

admin, parents talk to you about these forums?
Point well taken. I am humbled and shamed by your astute and learned reply. Parents that let their kids play games that simulate killing should definitely prevent them from reading bona fide words with an etymology stretching over 400 years.
-
^^^ Look out, zulater, your sig might get you blacklisted by the nanny patrol.
-
Thank God. Almost 30 seconds lapsed before another negative thread was started.
-
Haven't you read the forums? There is nothing good about this game. You are wrong. Please change your topic name to "Things I like about Halo 2."
-
Great game, guys!
Is it just me, or do some people take this WAY too seriously? Please don't whine about time invested in a franchise. Good God, go get laid. Pay a <deleted> if you have to.
Admin Edit , LOL, I don't think I want parents coming after me about that advice, word deleted.

Mine didn't even come with a manual, but it did come with a Manuel. He's mowing the lawn right now.
-
^^^^
Not even funny

Hey, they can't all be gems

-
Okay, go back to my initial suggestion: Change the name of the game. It would be a simple fix to be included with the next patch. Perhaps a better name would be "Punky Brewster and Webster's Roller Rink Xtreme."
-
And why doesn't the game ship with latex gloves & lotion? Have someone look into that.
-
There's one thing to remember when you run into a sequel/remake/whatever that you don't like: The original is still there to enjoy and there's nothing the "new" version can do to change that.
Hey, we were talking about porn, here. Don't try to return this thread to the original topic.
-
Include a half-decent attempt at a manual and I'd be happy

How about latex gloves & some lotion? Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
-
We wanted to print it even larger but nooooooooooo, UBI told us they were not going to distribute the game in boxes 10x the size of a DVD just so we could have bigger prints.
But don't worry, the next patch will include hires images you can print out yourself.
I prefer to receive my parcels in plain brown wrapping....
-
Also, i know the game is made for a wide audience so the porn addition would be in bad taste, but could you atleast ask Desmond to add the porn music to the game? nothing like sitting next to a building waiting for an enemy and listening to a funkadelic, acid trip inducing shag music.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don't dismiss the idea so quickly, JR. What happens to a wounded soldier when they go to an aid station or field hospital? I think I feel an expansion pack coming on:
Ghost Recon: Night Shift Nurses.
cajun man wants to know one thing.
