Okay, I'm new to the GR series. I like GRAW, but need clarification on the MP gametypes.
DM - Deathmatch - No teams; shoot anything that moves
TDM - Team Deathmatch - Shoot the guys on the other team
DOM - Domination - Kinda sorta TDM with a purpose
HH - Hamburger Hill - Hold a zone for a certain period of time
What other gametypes are native to GR? (Please no b!tch!ing about how they're not in GRAW).

I would have to disagree with that - only because that is what not I do
. But that said, even after 3 patch downloads, AW is still an awful online experience.Okay, let's look at it like this:
I buy BF2 today, play it out of the box, and think it's great. Then, I patch it and think, OMG, this sucks (because I do think the game sucks in its current incarnation). Now, EA has had what, 18 months or better to f-up BF2?
You buy GRAW, play it out of the box, and think it sucks. Then patch it. What's to say you won't like it after patching it? If you don't like it out of the box, are you saying you won't patch it?
My point is GRAW has, FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE, the potential to improve dramatically with patches.
I already like the game !

It would be nice to be able to filter out the empty ones, wouldn't it? AHEM!
Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure I don't need to say that) but can't you sort by # of players? In effect listing empty players last? If true, wish granted!

Don't know. My list is pretty long, but most servers, as you noted, are empty, so it doesn't really matter if they show or not. As for not being able to join, others have made similar posts, but I have not experienced the same problem. So, in essence, there is no point to my reply.

Gentlemen, may I cordially draw your attention back to the title of the topic?
We do seem to be rather wandering into the territory of what this game should/shouldn't be, of why people should/shouldn't be posting in this forum and sadly, petty insults.
The question is simply this: given the sequence of events to date - how will AW recover? What will bring people back to AW?
Well, games do degrade over time. Perhaps it is not unreasonable to expect some games to improve over time.
IMO, patches ruined BF2, and have caused many to stop playing. Though that is not to say the opposite is not possible with GRAW.
When John Q. Public buys a game, the first thing they do is download all the patches (at least I do). So in many cases these new players do not know what the game is like "out of the box." So they won't know what (IMO) made BF2 great, or what you think made GRAW so "GRAWful." <<<I know that's kinda gay, but I coudn't resist.

One of the other things not mentioned about weapons ballistics is ricochets. It's also very much component to consider also.
We get your point that you'd like more realistic ballistic physics, and most of us agree to some extent. However, I think this is getting a bit out of hand. How about when Mitchell walks through a dust cloud, he gets a particle of dust in his eye, and his vision gets blurred until one of his teammates gives him an eyewash?
Not trying to be insulting or disrespectful, but let's keep this discussion within reason. Can you imagine the complaints if people were getting wounded/killed from around a corner from debris?

I like servers with limited deaths. Otherwise there's no incentive not to run & gun.
First, when in a zone with an enemy, I try to find them rather than just run to the next zone looking for points.
Then, I try to take a strategic position in the zone I think the enemy might may be heading to next.
If I am correct, I try to prevent them from capturing the zone. If successful, I advance & try to take the next enemy zone.
Of course, this is much more fun & successful if you have a teammate or 2 on TeamSpeak or Ventrilo. Even if you don't, on a RARE occasion you can find someone willing to cover your back.

I really hate the guy who tells me about the status of the minimap when I am trying to listen for footsteps-please give me the option to mute his *&#.
You mean the voiceover? You can in audio options, I believe. Also, you can turn off the minimap on your HUD, though the server would continue to process that data.

But... I come here, and I still see so much comradery and a friendship that I've not seen in other communities on the internet. I enjoy this community a lot, and the people who are in it. This is the daylight, and my previous game is pitch black.
I like the game, I like the community and I like the comradery here and in-game. No review will change my mind about that.
I agree. Even OliverReed seems like he would be a great guy to sit & BS with over a beer (I like scotch, but I'm assuming he's a limp-wristed light beer drinker) even though he comes off in these forums like a whiney, overbearing, arrogant, condescending, pompus, blowhard, popinjay, crybaby, punk, jerk-face loser.

IMO bullet spread is tricky. In BF2, for example, I think it is poorly coded. Prone, scope up, single shot, the bullet rarely seems to hit where you're aming. At least the first shot should be (deadly) accurate. In anything but CQB situations (which BF2 is anything but) you almost need to be on single shot. So many people complained about the inaccuracy of the SAW & PKM that they improved it with a patch, only to make it TOO accurate (ne1 see the sniping video with the PKM?) and made a final adjustment with yet another patch.
So, some spread is a nice effect, as long as it doesn't get rediculous.

If the Cd gets hot then it possible. I pulled my fear dvd out of the driver the other day and it was very hot.
Other than that I have never had that happen to me b4.

Ummm...I said that as a joke...LP's are what we old folks (for the record OliverReed is MUCH older than I) used to listen to music...before CD's...and PC's...Kool and the Gang...ummm...ahem.

Not everyone thats posted to this thread, but for the most part whine asses. Suck it up and carry on.. I can hear the enemy's over seas now... thats no fair the USA has bigger and better weapons then we do, their missle spamming us
get over yourselfs already. LOL Get over yourself. Geesh. Anyone that either PAYS for a server or is willing to give up the bandwith to host one themself should have the ability to set their own ROE. Pay for your own server, set your own rules, and leave it at that.
Tough-guy posts always make me LOL.

1) Agreed that more MP modes will make the game more enjoyable and apealing to more people.
2) Hosts can limit # of respawns, so consider that wish granted (minus the deathcam).

Nades are legitimate for the SP side, but I agree the ability to limit them would be nice on the MP.

On a side note, let's not talk about contracts too much. It's obvious a lot of people have never read nor signed a business contract, and no one hear has read the contract between UBI & GRiN.
While the contract may have been to develop a game in X months, no one knows what changes or decisions made by either party created additional work, or rework of previously completed material. In these cases most contracts allow for additional money, but rarely do contracts allow for additional time. And, most contracts include penalty clauses EVEN IF delays were caused by others.

Use the tactical map to chain commands. Move the op where you want, then tell him where to cover, then execute the command.

I must be the MOST brilliant tactician EVER. I played the SP to its conclusion and never experienced ANY of the bugs/glitches/problems that I've read about in these forums. Now, I'll admit to being brilliant, maybe even genius. I'll even go so far to say I'm probably the smartest person any of you will ever be in a room with, let alone meet. But a brilliant tactician I am not.
You want bad AI? Try BoB:EIB! I don't know how many times I would order my team to move/cover/attack, and at least 1 jamoke would stand IN FRONT OF the cover and get cut to ribbons by the enemy. Not to mention walking into my field of fire, etc., etc.. And, at least when you equip a teammate with a Zeus they will use it. In BoB:EIB you'd have a case of panzerfaust, but do you think any of your teammates would think to grab one and give you a hand knocking out a tank? HELL NO!
Maybe you need to experience really bad AI in order to know how to use really good AI.
Oh, in addition to being exceedingly smart, I'm incredibly handsome, too.
