  1. I don't think that's too bad of a payday... $25mil+ isn't too shabby. :)

Ahhhh, if only the ecinomics of this business were that simple............ I would be very rich!

The actual "take home" out of a $59.99 game would astound you.

I think she knows better and her statement was a little tongue-in-cheek, though I agree with you that in general economic education is non-existent. To exacerbate the problem, people do not apply common sense to economic matters. Worst of all, this is not limited to one or 2 2nd or 3rd world countries, but is in fact a global problem. Uuuuuh, not to get off-topic....

  2. I've seen people (red dots) enter our spawn from the start of the game. They go from their spawn and run to ours. there's all kinds of people in GRAW. give everyone one or two spawns. then they'll change as they'll be sick of being at max deaths...simple.

Yes, but in your opinion is the scenario described above "spawn camping." I died 0 times, so as you imply, I changed my tactic from offensive (the initial push) to defensive.

  3. For reasons of full disclosure, the following occurred in Shadw Company Elite's server tonight. My game name is Cangaroo.TNT.

The server was about 1/2 full, and I went 7:0. I'm pretty bad, so I was pleased with my score. Then, someone accused me of spawn camping. Since I'm new to the GR series, I am turning to the distinguished and venerable ORG community to provide me with some clarity.

    Statement of Facts:

I was in a zone adjacent to an enemy zone.

The front (the edge of my zone) was deep in enemy territory (i.e. we were winning).

I was by myself, with no comms.

After the initial push (of which I took part) I decided to take a defensive position (again, because I was by myself).

I thought this decision was prudent because I was alone, and SOMEONE had to defend our zones while others pushed forward.

Is this spawn camping? I honestly thought you [GR] guys would consider this simply setting an ambush. It's not like I was overlooking their base. I was simply defending a zone we occupied. If no one defends a zone, it simply becomes BF2 when each team takes turns capturing a flag (zone).

    Was I wrong?

  4. The fact is, patching the game changes your installation to the newest or most current patch.

so If I had say 1.6 and you had 1.10, I could never join your server.

Versions are the key to happiness

Since you all know I have downed GRIN alot lately, all I'm allowed to say is, GRAW will never be the same as it was before.

Okay, you're an [GR] player and you're looking at it from that perspective. This is good news for you and others like you. What is your honest assessment of the effect the patch will have on non-[GR] players that currently like GRAW such as myself? For example, I liked BF2 when it first came out, but do not like it at all after the >500MB of patching they've done.

  5. Maybe I'm just cynical, but couldn't ANYONE start a server, name it "UBISOFT 1.21 Beta Test CHI-03," then password it so no one could join? I mean, couldn't I go right now & start a server named "UBISOFT 1.30 Beta Test?" Then everyone would be all "oooh" and "ahhhhh" over that.

I'm not saying Grin or UBI would do that, but it could be a few guys from the marketing department building hype.

Again, just being a skeptic. I'm not a Grin or UBI basher; I like GRAW!

  6. Does anyone know if the game records post-mortem kills? I'm not talking about simultaneous kills, when you and an opponent kill eachother at the same time. For example, you toss a frag and get killed before it goes off. Does the frag go off? If so, does it do any damage?

There have been MANY times when I would throw a frag, get killed, and not hear or see an explosion.

Edit: Actually, I have never received a post-morem kill in GRAW.

  7. Last week, I tracked a guy (by sound) running across the map about a quarter of the map away. I know I was pointing at him or close to at him. I fired a grenade that landed at his feet as he ran out into an intersection and thought "thank god there's no replay or people would be sure that was a wallhack."

What you say will only be valid if only a few people are in the server at the time. Let's follow this logically:

If you can hear accurately to a RADIUS = 1/4 the distance of the map, if you are standing in the center of the map, you can hear approximately 1/2 the map (1/4 N, 1/4 E, 1/4 S, 1/4 W). Now, assuming there are 32 players in a server, it is likely that there are MULTIPLE players within your audible range, excluding teammates. If the game mode is HH, it's likely to be MOST of the players. So, if I'm reviewing a playback, and I see someone tracking 1 enemy through walls, buildings, obstacles, etc., I'm going to think their using a hack, regardless of what soundcard they may have.

When a server is full, what matters most is the guy around the corner, not the guy on the opposite side of the map.

  8. Don't you mean GRAWesome ?

LOLOL That's great! When I made the original comment about "GRAWful," I was not speaking for myself, because I like the game. Now we have a term for us fans as well!

Definition of GRAWsome: Anything that when praised sends OliverReed into an apoplectic fit. LOLOL just bustin' your balls, Ollie!!!

  9. What's wrong with Lockdown? I bought it and have enjoyed it. What is it that I'm not seeing?

Apparently people think MP > SP.

I do agree that Lockdown sucked though. I only played the MP demo that was released on OXM.

I think you guys are missing Ollie's point. He just used Lockdown as an example for his new word "GRAWful." He was not trying to send this thread off topic.
