  1. I agree. When I'm TL and we get close to the end I try to hang back and allow teammates to spawn on me. Although, it is easy to squad jump in GRAW; Easier than BF2.
  2. I agree. Since when is it that if someone wants a good GAME, they need to sacrifice realistic movement, physics, and graphics. Using that logic, the realism = simulation fans should not be content with no respawns. They should demand that upon death of their character their computer spontaneously combust and burn their house down. (Now I'm gonna get it about not understanding <- Doesn't really apply, but it's not used nearly enough:))
  3. You're obviously a liar, because you couldn't possibly know more than I do about your computer. Just kidding...just kidding....
  4. The only setting differences that appear relative are: Your Settings: <next_map value="3"/> <rounds value="1"/> Our Settings: <next_map value=""/> <rounds value="3"/> Also how about your network speed value in your servers_shared.xml file? Ours is set to 1500.
  5. Yes, AFZ has them (attackforcez.com), and they can direct you to where to get them.
  6. I don't know. We host with similar settings (same maps, 3 rounds each map). I played several complete cycles last night without a crash at all. Perhaps post your server settings.
  7. On the bright side, if you host a GRAW server it doesn't take long for it to get populated. There are so many BF2 servers to play in, ours can go days or weeks without ever having enough people to start a game. Yes, I know it's stretching to see the silver lining, but I played in our [GR] Coop server for 2 or 3 hours last night and it was full (or near full) the whole time. As long as you have full servers to play in, what more do you need? (I know there are a LOT of empty servers, but the same is true for BF2). I know the number of online players speaks to the longevity of the game, but
  8. I got Demo Expert 3/0 in [GR] Coop. What does that mean? 3 kills? Okay, makes sense. What's the 0? Anyone? Bueller?
  9. Good point....getting back to the OP: Despite a lot of the rhetoric in these forums, I thing Grin is a HUGELY talented developer, especially considering they are a relatively small group (at least that's what I've gathered here). Left to their own devices, I wonder what they would be capable of producing...anyone from Grin care to elaborate???? EDIT: I love GRAW and can't imagine what they could do unshackled from UBI (or any other publisher).
  10. There's a difference between product placement, which the company pays the developer (Axe pays UBI for ads in GRAW) and the developer needing a patented/copyrighted image for the game. It's not like anyone here is going to go out & buy a scar-h, or Zeus rocket launcher, but (hopefully) everyone here buys deodorant.
  11. Amen, to that! For some strange reason, I would (and do) put up with random & frequent disconnencts with GRAW rather than suffer through another round of BF2. I got in on the BF2142 beta test, played it for 20 minutes, and uninstalled it. And, even though wildy popular, BF2 crashed REGULARLY before patch 1.4.
  12. Do your teechers lern you this in your skool books over in yerope?
  13. I agree. I prefer playing in my own server. That way, I enter the admin console and type /start. That starts the map, whether the server is full or not, or whether the players are ready or not.
  14. Well, someone with infinitly deep pockets could finance an altruistic non-profit video game developer to create the be-all, end-all video game at a reasonable price a large number of people would be willing to pay. Hell, look at America's Army..paid for by the U.S. federal government...FREE to the public...but I don't see anyone claiming AA is the greatest game ever. Profit is a motive. Profit is a reasonable motive. Profit motive is what gives us choice & quality & the ability to balance between the 2. I own a construction company and I decide to do low volume/high quality work
  15. Isn't that a bit contradictory? They make the most money based on what market research tells them MOST players want. When is the last time you bought toilet paper embedded with shards of glass? Masochists would love it, why is it not available? Times & tastes change, and that leaves some people behind. Why do you think our parents (& grandparents for the younger crowd) are so Goddamned cranky? (I just know this reply is going to be misinterpreted )
  16. I'm not debating that. I'm just saying that maybe it explains this: Two weeks ago I replayed Day of the Tentacle for the I-don't-know-how-manyth time. Lucasarts sure don't make games like that, anymore. The progress train keeps rolling crushing everything in it's path.
  17. Try this...and perhaps let us know if it works for Seige: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...mp;#entry420559
  18. That's a great idea, but I see one problem: How do you limit the discussion to ideas for a new release only, and avoid pro/con discussions about GRAW? The moderators would have to delete a LOT of replies, and then you'd hear a lot of bitching about censorship and fanboyism. If the moderators don't object to having to excessively moderate, and people don't get bent out of shape if a post gets edited or deleted, then I'd be all for it. Also, you'd have to somewhat limit bickering. If I think it's a good idea to have the TL carry a tuba and you don't think it's a good idea, who is right an
  19. Wow, when I made my post I had no idea. But, it meshes with the idea of UBI changing GR to focus on a hero character, that being Mitchell. That's not to say that EVERY game can or would be made into a movie, but if the possibility exists, it makes sense for video game publishers to explore/exploit the possibility of a wildly successful game becoming a movie. They'd rake in a LOT of extra dough with little or no additional effort. Then, think of the additional merchandising: action figures, clothing, etc. Just think of the possibilities: trick-or-treating in an officially liscensed Spli
  20. If you are in another squad's server, please do not advertise your own, or try to recruit or steal players for your own server. Servers are paid for by indivduals or squad members, and are setup in accordance with their standards for all to enjoy. Actions such as inviting players to another server, inviting players to join or tryout for another squad, or soliciting a member of another squad for a tryout are not appreciated. Some servers will punt/ban for advertising and/or recruiting. Thanks!
  21. Just to make sure correct information is put out, each command needs to be prefaced with a "/", correct? /set_kit_sg <0> /reload
  22. Even if you can't make a video game look like a movie, you can make movie based on video game characters, which is the jist of my original comment, and perhaps a motivating factor in Ubisoft's decisions
