The level of description they give you compared to the level you need is about the same is if a new couple just had a baby and asked for a "how to raise a kid manual" and they were given a single sheet of paper with some tips on it............. yeah, that might get ya through the first five minutes... what about the next 18 years ?

    The tutorial is horrible beyond words, it tells you next to nothing.

    not that any of this matters but I'm basically waiting for my next check to come and I'm gettin a 360 (you can get them used dirt cheap) and I'm picking up a used copy of GRAW for the 360. Thats right, I'm jumping ship. I've had enough.... don't care whos at fault, all I know is that compared to someone who know next to nothing PC Graw would seem great.... to long time GR fans and regular PC FPS gamers, its a disgrace.... thanks for botching another one UBI ! How about getting number 4 right ? If theres even going to be a number 4.

  2. The thing about this is they expect you to understand the infite possibility of errors that you could have automatically. We're given this small tutorial making making maps look simple when its nothing even remotely close to that.

    You do exactly as the tutorial says and don't even still come close to a working product.

    Duck and a I as well as a few others work together on mods all the time so we have multipe minds going and I think from knowing big fat ZERO about modding and map building we've done pretty damn good as a whole so far so we are by no means stupid but come on guys you gotta do better than this "throw us a fricken bone here people"

    Duck made a great black hawk down map that we played several times but he cant put finishing touches on it like tanks driving and etc so that he can release it and we cant for the life of us figure out why.

    help us... please

  3. see... theres going to be problems like this all over the place. its great you grin guys are here to help us mentally challenged folks out but theres going to be alot of questions that could be saved and a lot of frustrated time by people saved if there was an "editor for dummies" model available.

    Like it either actualy fixes these extremely minor errors or it brings up a detailed line of script telling you exactly what you need to do. For instance, if you make an [GR] map to test with no bad guys it should come up and say " do you want to ad enemies?" if you say yes all you have to do is just click them in and click view cones and drag lines like you do in teh TAC map during game play and it gives you all the rest.

    I am having a problem myself, i was making my own maps and gave up. so i took the sieg strongpoint map,... took out the neutral zone and resaved it as a test [GR] with no bad guys of course. it works perfectly !.........functional wise. However, it looks like a bad acid trip.... the hills are all green and blue checkers, the ground i walk on is either that or dark black, some of the buildings are either pefect or dark black... all vegetation is either blueish green or purple and everyone once ina while something is fazed in then perfect. and all I did was resave an existing map, I didn't do anything to it.

    whats wrong wtih this ?

    @JasonFMX: I'll try those :thumbsup: (in all other games I played the ak74 was crazy spread and recoil but deadly..am I correct?)

    well see thing is the AK74 is a weird weapon... a spec of it leans one way just as much as the other. For instance, the muzzel break on it is to reduce recoil and muzzle climb whcih reduces spread but it is a fairly loose firing weapon..

    same goes for its damage. its similar to the 5.56 in many ways however it is a smaller round.... however in some ways its damage under certain circumstances depending on the target and distance can do more damage than a 7.62.

    i think you just oughta pic some specs and go with them becuase to obtain realistic specs you'd have to speak to an experienced expert that has handled all of these weapons and knows how the AK74 comapres to the Scar Light so to speak.

  5. Thx for pics, and...I was talking about ingame stats (spead, recoil,etc) the ones you find in u_weaponname, it would be cool to have a few people posting their ideas on this subject :)

  6. does this do anything to the Multiplayer of GRAW? Does it screw it up/make it unplayable? the fear of that is the only thing keeping me from trying this out.

    single player and coop ... no..... adversarial such as TDM, DM. Dom, HH... yes. The mod must be taken out to play this.

    Not to worry, its extremely easy. Open folder Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter > right click and send short cut of Local folder to desktop.

    All you gotta do from then on is open the folder up and drag it out. takes literally five seconds. Make sure your context XML file in the main GRAW folder reads Jasonsmod2.0 and leave it like that. When the mod folder is in the Local it will read the mod. when you drag it out it cant find the mod folder and refers to default (most likely english folder). So you dont ever have to touch the context file again.

  7. Thanks for the pointers. Seems I had your first mod, I've downloaded the others but don't have time to try them out right now. Do you think a patch to 1.21 will help?

    well like i was saying before. patch 1.21 combined with jasons mod 2.0 ..... for some reasons makes my game at its best even at its worst (coop). I dont crash at all anymore.

    The only flaw in my game... and this is my game not the mod becuase it did it before the mod existed and even if i take the mod out..... is that on "ready for bear" when i release the tank crew i must go in the barracks from the rear facing the large warehouse side and stay there for a minute or so and let the guys get up and get their pistols out etc... then leave our the otherside twoards the tank shed. If i do this any other way the game crashes right then and there at that point.

    I have confidence that if I reinstalled the game it wouldnt do this anymore... just like when I first got the game I had to reinstall it twice because the key bindings were forcefully overwritten for some reason and wouldnt change or reconfige to the defaults... weird.

  8. indeed it would require more system reserouces as that would mean having to render everything twice!:)

    Thanks for the input Willie. Its always nice to have one of the Grin team chime in on our discussions, becuase we're all just guessing at this stuff.... you guys actually made it.

    Hey, by the way. Did you ever get a chance to try my mod ? If not try the 2.0 verison and slap in my firefirght 1.0 mod with it. Its a sub mod I made to be run by itself or with another if you so wish. Totally changes the gameplay. Its at the download link in the thread named "new mod" in general PC mods forum here. Show it to your buddies in the office. They'll probably get a kick out of it.

    Hey Willie, one more question. Can you actually tell me for exact certaintly what the difference between the difficutly settings are in the game ?

    Back to the crosscom. Ill try to mess with it and see what I can come up with.. but for now this is huge progress and for the time being I'm actually fairly satisfied with leaving like this............for a while

    Id have to see all of the mods you installed to see what could be causing your problem but I can see that just from the screen shot you showed us that you have some serious mods going and your gameplay has been entirely changed.

    You can try my suggestions but now that I know what I know I fear they may not work. You might just have to either pick one mod and go with it or slowly integrate features together to see which ones conflict and eliminate some others.

  10. oh, one more thing ... what version of my mod do you have ?? I dont know if rocky got aroudn to it or not but i have released "Jasons Mod 2.0" which has some more improvements.

    I know Ghostaholics is hosting it now as well as my personal download site. Go a few threads down and look for the thread I started titled "new mod" theres a link there on the first page, Click it and download Jasons Mod 2.0

    Feel free to download the fire fight mod 1.0 and hybrid it in.... you might also want to go to ghostaholics and snatch the health mod if you do that though......... the FF mod is visciously brutal. real challenge

  11. This has been on my long list of things to eventualy mod. This will just rush the process a bit. I'll see what I can do.

    Just a few intiial thoughts. The imaging produced by the newly colored crosscom seem to be identical to the way it was before. even down to the fact friendlies and tangos are still diamonds and not acutal imagse. Instead of being just a monocrhome wire frame with no color, things are simply colored in with vauge, almost primary colors. It would seem that there is still either some sort of program the cross com is running to that produces its own image just like everything else in the game. For instance the tac map, buddycam, crosscom, deathcam, first person view. Each uses there own characteristics.

    What I think the goal here is is to totally reroute the mini crosscom to use the buddycam or zoomed crosscom as it would be refered to as. The Xbox 360 already seems to do this. The PS2 uses wireframe like the PC version and the Xbox version uses a frame by frame view. I imagine the goal here is to make it like the 360's and actually have a full color real time view of whtas going on.

    Beleive it or not but even this crude fix actually helps out in great deals in my game play. I am running my own hard mod of course and tactical play is a must. I often hide myself as I give the ghosts orders and look through the crosscom. when im moving to a new location and am looking at the ghosts mini crosscom i can now actually see wher ethey are. The previous wireframe is completely useless, it shows you nothing. Even now its not perfect view but you can more than make out where the ghosts are on the map. Definately improvement.

    One thing to keep in mind. I imagine it was left to wireframe for one if not two reasons. one, maybe they never got to finish it before release..... or two, the more likely reason. Using a realtime full view of the buddycam in the left hand corner would require more system resources.

  12. One more thing, why does Control Panel show that Graw.exe and the Graw Patch run to about 12gigs each in size? That's one big bite of my hard disk.

    That does seem excessive. My list of installed programs/updates shows GRAW and 1.21 at 4,513.00MB each. Did you do a clean install or just overwrite?

    It seems that the rush development of this game left many things that are subject for variance in each persons indvidual machine due to the many possible combinations of programs and uses of that machine.

    I myself ever since installing my latest versions of my mod have actually IMPROVED the performance of my machine.I use to crash at least 4 times per gaming sessions. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I had to force restart so many times windows was ruined and i had to reformat. I also had to reinstall graw a few times due to malfunctions within the game.

    Ever since the instalation of the mod... things have never missed a beat... its unreal. When I myself make my mods I pass it to my friends nad everyone tests it and then when all bugs are worked out I make it availabel for download for the public. It very well could be a number of things on your machine. For intance, the combination of all those mods might conflict, could be your individual machines configuation itself, an anomoly in the programs that is causing something to malfunction. who knos.

    but try this. open folders

    GRAW> Local > (mod folder) > lib > managers > XML > and delete the group managers file.

    see if that doesnt fix a few things. (if theres even one in there)

  13. Oh yeah, check out Units/Beings/Player_data.xml...

    The player as a whole has 8 points hit damage. While your teammates, get 24. Okay, for common sense sake, the player should of course have some more tactical sense than a bunch of bots... but uh, why should the player have less damage points? Balance of course, you get damaged easier and therefore, think harder. More points and well you know, people start running around not using tactical sense. Dunno but it's kinda like "wait a minute..., the AI has no such thing as tactical sense" unless modded, so I bumped it to 24. I figure that's fair.

    Though I never bothered with the "Found God mode" thread, the ability to change to God Mode is possible, just of course change it to "True"

    go to ghostaholics and download the healthmod.. it does about what you did, its just one beings folder that goes in the units folder.

    ive never had a problem with the ghosts doing what i tell them to when i give the orders to attack and kill. if i get the ghosts killed its usually my fault for giving bad orders.

    as far as carrying weight goes, just lower the weights of the items you wish to carry. i know guys who put the assult rifels in secondary, so they can take an M99, assult rifle with nades and a zeus. kinda made it Xbox style

  14. Cool.. Oh yeah, I used the older one for the Ghosts and it worked as it should, so I'm happy now :D

    And now that I read how you did that, I found it and trying Defensive, but we'll see how that goes..

    yeah let me know of your results.

    obviously thats not all I did but that will keep them from firing off all their rounds. Doing thse AI mods were the most time consuming out of anything. it makes doing weapons looking a walk in teh park. Its like you have to go read through those huge files... then restart the game, reload the mission which takes for ever and get to whatever part in teh mission where you need in order to test it..... its crazy. I changed so many things my eyes went crossed a few days. Or I was looking at original files and comparing them to mine and forget which one was mine and which was the original...lol ......... oh man.

    but being their ....... compitence is turned up.... if you made them purely defensive it should be interesting to see how they react. But I'm sure you how you can understand how its more "fun" to have them surpressive.... bullets everywhere. action packed fun ! haha

  15. New mod I posted up on my download site. Here is a tidbit from the read me

    This mod increases the awareness, accuracy, mobility, agility, and aggressivness of BOTH the friendly and enemy AI.

    tips:

    - your going to have to change the entire way you play this game altogether. It will be nothing like it was before.

    - Changing difficulty settings from easy, normal, hard do not seem to effect actually making the game easier or harder

    it just seems to allow you to be shot more times before you die. For example, you'll take more hits on easy and on hard

    there are more one-shot kills

    - For your first time playing you may want to put it on easy and go to Ghostaholics and download the health mod to go along with this

    BECAUSE THIS MOD IS FREAKING HARD !!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Hey man, wasn't knocking your mod... I understand the situation as I've done some stuff for VBS1 and a few others, so pleasing everybody is near impossible given a relative community size. So I just was curious if that's the case, not saying you're jacked up, just seeing about if it was possible of adjusting the fire rate. If it's not able to do man, cool, so relax brother, and I'll deal with it okay? :thumbsup:

    oh its definately changable

    go into SB templates.... and the files... one is the ghost ai, and i cant remember what the other is off hand but theres only a few in there to begin with. your looking for a section that has rate of fire and options 0 , 1, or 2 , its on two for surpressive... change it to 0 or 1... whatever you want.

  17. Thanks Jason, but a question arises about the AI coding.. is it just an "overall" hose everything, enemy and friendly alike? I downloaded 2.0 and thankfully the threat/pressure was back, but your original mod had great fire control on the friendly side, bursts instead of emptying out the magazines at one contact, thereby not hitting anything, or how does that go about?

    Eric. As you can imagine its near impossible to please everyone. The minute I do one thing someone says/asks/ suggest I do another. The friendly AI before was offensive/defensive they basically were on defense until an order was given and they only did what they had to. And the enemy AI was referred to as being "retarded"... so I was asked to toughen it up... give it action back. SO..then I made the beta hard mod. Thats the American way isn't ? Fire enough bullets and eventually you'll hit something ? Just joking of course. But seriously, I had it like this in the Beta hard mod and people like it for about ten minutes or so... matter of fact they downright love it. Then its so hard they get ###### off and frustrated and tell me I need to tame it down. I tame it down... the main fire action being surpressive of course. Then I make Jasons Mod 2.0 kinda part way between both but still keeping friendly AI surpressive becuase the AI's difficulty enough it fits the balance. I personally think I hit the nail right on the head with this one. But not even so much as an hour after releasing this I already started to hear groans and moans becuase I tamed it down too much.

    SO............................. thats why I left all them up on my site. If you want a normal- hard game delete my AI files and run it default AI. If you want enhanced friendly where you run all over the enemy download Jasons Mod.... if you want a super badass game thats practically like being in a real fire fight.... so real to the fact that in certain situations you dont even have a chance download jasons beat hard mod. If you want a basically another difficutly level thats one notch higher than the game has already such as Easy, Normal, Hard, Extra Hard then download Jasons Mod 2.0 . And I have decided to start busting up my mods and having smaller sections available for download. In the end surely through all that mess somewhere in some combination you'll find the AI settings that are right for you.

    By the way,.. I didn't know my mod was up on Ghostaholics... thats awesome. Thanks to whoever passed that along.
