  1. i hope this is in right spot, i do own the retail game, but can not join some of the multi player sessions, and the one's i can, i get to the inv' screen but when i try to go into the game i sit on a BLACK SCREEN and go no further, and for Co_op games its the same responce !!!

But i am able to host games and it works fine for me and most others manage to join and start with me, and some get caught on the BLACK SCREEN too !!

Has anyone got any idea's on this problem, PLEASE !!!

And i've put the new 1.20 patch in too, but for me it's same ol' same ol'

    :ph34r::g_guns::g_guns:

  2. Considering the price of R6 Lockdown, I think GR:AW won't drop below $30-$40 for at least 6 months, if not longer.

I just paid $18.83CAD for Lockdown, three weeks ago.

You got lucky I suppose. Here's what I found:

    $42.50 - Newegg

    $24.99 - Circuit City

    $29.99 - Best Buy

    $29.99 - EBgames

Too bad I didn't wait, could have saved myself over $20 :wall:

Is that around $17 US then? I can't remember the exchange rate now.

You people have got it good as far as prices go, i've just paid $90 for it here in Australia

  3. It's great to see that GRIN is here acknowledging the coop posts. Since coop is basically all my friends and I play, I feel encouraged that the coop issues may be addressed. And that leads me to the #1 issue we have right now with coop:

WE CAN'T GET TO THE LOADOUT SCREEN! Sorry about the screaming, but this is ridiculous. I tried for almost 2 hours Saturday to join/host a coop game, and never once got it to work. Sunday I was finally able to join someone's game, only to be disconnected 5 minutes into the game. Some days it works marginally, some days not at all. I am OK with the coop game when we're playing, all the things that have been promised for coop improvements sound great, but I enjoy playing it as it is now. That is, if we can play! The way it stands now, four of us try playing, but only one of us can host because no one can get to the loadout screen if the others try to host. And the one that can host has a slower PC, so the game doesn't host well on his computer. And we all have computers that will run the game just fine. As a matter of fact, we all can jump into a Dom or DM game without any problems. This appears to be a coop issue.

GRIN, I know I can't ask you to respond directly to this (Colin pretty much threatened me with being booted off when I asked before), but there appears to be a lack of posts regarding this BkSOD issue in coop. I'm sure you're aware of it, I just wanted to state that the coop game has been very enjoyable when we get it to play. It's just not easy to get that far with it. We wonder at times if this is, in part, a Gamespy problem. There are a good number of times I get 'Gamespy connection problem' messages, which doesn't give me a warm, fuzzy feeling about being able to play. I truly hope that one of the future coop improvements is Direct IP connection, but I doubt it. Ubisoft using Gamespy was not, IMHO, a wise decision. Unfortunately, that's what we got.

    Thanks for listening

You have just told it exactly right, i feel the same, have the same enjoyment, and the same problems and fears when starting a Co_op mission too, and Co_op is all i play, i will wait for the coming help with getting a good smooth mission play, and be able to get into them, and get them finished, but we do need to vent our feelings about the problems we have, as we have already supported the makers/developers 100%, we bought and paid for the game......

And thank you for the responce that i see to some of the post too, Grin

  4. here's one thing about GR1. Even after four or more years of playing online i would still jump right out of my skin (ok, chair) sometimes when i got shot. it wasn't the sound of the enemy's firearm which could be quite far off so i wouldnt hear it all the time. It was the thump of the rounds hitting me and more importantly the tension that had built up just before i was hit.

I mean, it was a massive shock sometimes and would have me jerking my whole body att he surprise and usually cursing aftewards and sometimes laughing.

In GR1 MP, every single time i got hit felt like a massive set back to some ground i had been making in the round and every time i got a kill felt like a massive relief and thrill. Every other game is just like an ongoing mild satisfaction whenever you get a kill and no big deal when you get killed.

That's just one element of GR1 that we wanted in GRAW, there are others.

Oh brother. I just UN-installed GRAW and made "shelfware" space for it in my closet. I reimaged my gaming PC and installed [GR]+patches+mods+.. well, you get the idea. About 3 hours into playing the original 15 missions on Elite, while creeping through one of the forest missions, some sniper with what HAD to be a .50 cal took a shot at me.

I kid you not, I had to stop the game. My heartrate went thru the roof. I had become SO bloody "into" the game that I jumped at the shot and nearly fell out of the chair.

Those moments, above all else, tell me that a 5 year old game, with a 6 year old graphics engine, can STILL pull me in so deep that I forget I'm sitting in sunny Phoenix, Arizona.

When GRAW can do that for me (never), or if GR4 can do it, I will officially retire from [GR]. Funny, but I just went out and bought the last 2 copies of "GR-Game of the Year" from the local CompUSA store (bringing my total to 8 sets)... just because I never want to have my last set of CD's go bad. That says a lot about how long I see me playing [GR], huh?

To GRIN - I believe you were held hostage by Ubi, to a degree, regarding where and how you could go. I will never forgive you, however, for making such dramatic comparisions to [GR] during the ramp up period. You built up expectations but you HAD to have known where it was headed. Reading our forum posts leading up to GOLD status tells me you had a captive audience WANTING to be blown away. We wanted to give you and Ubi our money. We wanted to go out and buy a new vid card to run it (Well, expecting us to buy a 7900gtx is perhaps a bit TOO much, but you understand).

The fact that you shipped the demo at virtually the same time you went GOLD tells me you either 1) were told to stop production and SHIP, 2) you KNEW that when the demo hit the net it was going to get hammered, or 3) You released it late so you had an excuse for not getting solid feedback from us that could have HELPED the game before GOLD status.

For God's sake, you won't even let us save the game when WE want to? How XBox is that mentality?

GRAW is dead. Long live [GR] (it had better... those hardcore of us around here have precious little other tha [GR] at this point).

    -JK

Mate u took the words righ.....well you know what i mean :P no more will i try to get GRAW going either, its back to the best war sim i've ever bought!!! GHOST RECON....not that i ever stopped or removed it....but i am so ticked off with GRAW i wont go near it till they prove they can do the job half as good as [GR] :o=

I think this thread is absolutely AWESOME!

It's just like one of those ultra-violet flt zappers

These guys all get attracted over here and stay away from the rest of the site

    Genius!

i agree my friend, this is a good thread, for you see we dont have tunnel vision syndrome, and can tell it as it is, but if self denial help you then i am very happy for u......

  5. When i try to join a server that is using one of the modded maps i get this error message can anyone help with this...my maps are all in the custom level folder. :wall:

Do you have the modded map on your computer? And/or do you have any mods?

I heard that this might be an issue from others... Maybe someone can step up and maybe clear it up even more than I could.

i only have the skin mod in place right now...have all the modded maps in the custom leves folders...i apreciate the feedback and yes i would hope someone else could help with this...be nice if it was as easy as [GR]...

If you have mods that the server doesn't have, then it will kick you. Someone was attempting to play on my Co-Op one day and the same thing happened. I don't have any mods yet, and that's most likely the problem.

If there were a way to read the server prior to entering it, maybe stating the mods that it has, or that it doesn't have any or it does have them, then maybe it would make things a lot easier on the players so that they know, instead of just kicking them.

I have to tell you that it makes no difference.....after 15 installs, trying it every way possible it is still a hit and miss affair when doing multi play, dont matter if ur joining a game or running one, i've had a mate do the same installs and try the same games, did not make it any easier, and at times it has crashed to windows sometimes the lobby and to the Black screen too, it even does it in the single player when changing team member weps at times.. And yes some idea of what is running on the servers would be nice, hell it worked fine for [GR] on ubi.com server lobby, i just dont understand why they never put it in this new GRAW too

  6. Erixx it's not off topic dude it's talking about GRAW. GRAW and it's community don't exist in a vacuum, it is influenced heavily by the game world around it and specifically by it's contemporarys as far as other games go.

Pagester i'll still give GRAW every chance of course. But when vids of a game that isn't even trying to re create GR1 sparks a GR1 feeling inside me and GRAW is so far hard graft to even get to run and needs half a years of patches just to deliver what we want i just wonder what it's future is.

I agree in Total, and also that its not off topic, ya got tunnel vision Erixx, and i've been doing it with ghost since it first came out, and still am, but this puppy called GRAW, that i paid almost $100 for... well...its got a long way to go before i would call it a bulldog !! IF THEY EVER FIX THE DAMN THING, and it tells its own story when you log on to play the [GR] and still find 120 players doing it, i dont see anywhere near that number on the GRAW servers, and WHY !! cause you cant run it or you get it going only to crash..... :o=:g_guns:

  7. Widescreen Issue:

While playing on a widescreen monitor, the aspect ratio consistantly changes every 2-15 minutes (shortest-longest time I've seen it last).

I thought I had the problem solved when I had reinstlaled the game. I lasted for about 10 minutes (then I dropped and started doing something else). The next time I played the game, I played SP. So I never saw the issue till later.

I started playing MP again, and within 5 minutes my screen skewed. I died, and it was reset to the proper widescreen ratio. A few minutes later - screen skewed again.

I tried joining a server without AC running - thinking maybe it was AC trying to keep the FoV from being changed - to no avail. The screen will skew with or without AC.

Apparently I am not the only one to have this issue - I've two clanmates with the same problem, and I've seen other posts of people complaining of the same effect.

Widescreen DID work properly in the initial install, as well as in the 1.10 patch. This didn't start happening till 1.16.

I have a viewsonic 19" widescreen and have never had any screen problems with GRAW at all :)

  8. They don't even know where French is!

LOL dude, flee quickly before you make more of a poophole (stupid swearing filter  ) out of yourself. French is all over the world, France lies in Europe and can't really be missed on the map...

A very small mistake, and this small mistake, has it seems, amused a very small mind, feel proud... something is really working in there

  9. Ingame Voice Chat and the ability to click on other players and see what weapons they have.

Yrs i agree with u on all points, but if the TL is hosting the game as is the case, then once he is out then the session should end, after all he starts the game, and wants the team effort, but in most cases is left to do the prime mission while all others go too quick and all over the map on a chicken shoot, its just so damn annoying as u find ur self doing it alone after everyone is KIA :o= and it does need voice com' in the game too, someone needs to get it right...And i have got my game going stable now by going back to an earlier video driver 84.21.....its a whole lot better now

  10. I'm moving this post up because there appears to be ZERO effort being done on fixing the coop connection problem. I posted when the 1.16 patch first came out about not being able to play coop :

    QUOTE(DeathDad @ Jun 21 2006, 11:08 PM)

I am so mad right now I probably shouldn't be typing this, but I have read no posts about how coop play has been impacted by the new patch and need to say this. Coop is what my friends and I bought this game for. And I wish I could comment on the new patch's improvements in coop play, BUT SINCE I CANNOT NOW PLAY IN ANY COOP GAME HOSTED BY ANYONE, I guess I must refrain. I could, for the most part, usually join with the 1.10 patch, and was only occassionally dropped. I am now ALWAYS either disconnected, dropped to desktop or hard locked requiring a reboot before I can get to the loadout screen in a coop game. I can host, but cannot join. There is nothing different about my hardware. There is nothing different about my operating system. I have re-installed GR:AW 3x since trying this ###### patch. This is a patch issue. I am happy for the MP folks who got some new stuff for DM and team play, but this patch has ruined the coop experience for me.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Since then the situation has worsened. I can host only sometimes. The other players can join, but can't get past the black screen to the loadout. I cannot join coop servers I used to be able to join with 1.10. I have heard this from many coop players. But apparently the developers are either unaware of it or ignoring it to focus on the DM & Dom issues. That's fine, but please don't forget there is a coop community out there. I know the coop servers are far fewer than the others, but maybe part of that is because it's so hard to get a coop server game started. There is a Catch-22 effect here, the 1.10 coop game worked better but no one is playing that version anymore, so we are forced to use 1.16, WHICH IS BROKEN.

Please, GRIN, just let us know you are aware of the coop issues with 1.16 and are planning to address them. If not, the coop part of GRAW is doomed. To me, coop is an important part of the tactical gaming experience. If it dies, so does my willingness to spend $50 on anything in the future that has Ubisoft or GRIN on the label. That may be harsh, but that is where we are at in the current gaming market.

    Thanks for listening

Yes i have , and reinstalled it 9 times now and still only manage to get part of a mission done as a host and as a player in somone elses game, and i too bought it for the Coop fighting, a real ###### :o=

  11. I crashed when I was selecting my kit.

I selected my primary. Went to select my secondary.

The background turned into what seemed like the night vision.

Then a few seconds later it crashed.

I wasn't actually moving around, I was still selecting my secondary weapon.

It was in the night map, DM.

    Got this error:

    Crash in application version: grpcrc1.16

data\lib\units\extensions\hudinventory.dsf(-1): cant find member: _unit_name in type <void>

    SCRIPT STACK

    data\lib\units\extensions\hudinventory.dsf(0)

Hope this helps. No modded files what so ever, by the way.

I just had the same crash.

    Crash in application version: grpcrc1.16

data\lib\units\extensions\hudinventory.dsf(-1): cant find member: _unit_name in type <void>

    SCRIPT STACK

    data\lib\units\extensions\hudinventory.dsf(0)

This happened while I was on the loadout screen messing around with the new "save" feature. It also needs to be noted that prior to installing the 1.16 patch I completely uninstalled the game, rebooted, reinstalled to a new directory, then installed the 1.16 patch. I also have no modded game files. In addition to this crash I noticed a few other things which I've listed below.

    1) While in game I had noticed that I had both frag and smoke grenades which I found odd. I was running a "Domination" game just to test the new in game controls. After some more testing I noticed that I always had smoke grenades whether I choose them or not. Later on I found this wasn't happening anymore. Since original posting this I found similar things are happening in COOP gameplay. I loaded the mission "Ready for bear" this morning, and after hitting the insertion I noticed that I had both frags, and the Zeus. Not that I minded having both :-), but this is certainly a game bug.

    2) When going back to the loadout screen the first thing I noticed was that my current loadout was not showing on screen. I think your current loadout should be what's showing when you hit up the "Buy gear" bind. It shouldn't default back to the default loadout for the particular class you have chosen.

    3) There is a problem with the "Select frag grenade" direct weapon bind. The bind does switch you to your frags properly if you have them. If you're not carrying frags however, it still tries to switch to them, lowering your current weapon, then raising it back up again. The other direct weapon binds don't do this if you don't have that particular weapon in your loadout. If I don't have a secondary weapon for instance and hit the secondary weapon bind nothing happens. The current selected weapon stays on screen. This is the way it should be. If I don't have frags however, and hit the frag bind my weapon lowers as if I'm switching to frags, than raises back up again.

    4) When reaching an insertion and still in the helo you can still switch between weapons via the weapon list, but the direct weapon binds do not work. The new direct weapon binds only work after you've fast roped to the ground. I prefer to have my weapon of choice selected prior to hitting the ground. I'm sure others have the same perference. Sure I can use the weapon list, but the whole point of having direct weapon binds is so that we don't have to use the weapon list.

    5) While hosting COOP now I'm always on my secondary weapon instead of my primary for the ride to the insertion. Prior to this patch I was always on my primary. Later this evening I decided to join some coop servers myself as a client player. The same thing is happening. I'm always on my secondary for the initial ride in to the insertion. Am I going nuts or is this happening to anyone else as well? It's only once in a great while now that I actually start a mission with my primary weapon out.

    6) When running the direct weapon binds don't work. I regularly change weapons on the run using the weapon list. When I stop running it immediately takes me to the weapon I've changed to. This can't be done with the direct weapon binds however. If you are running the direct weapon binds are completely ignored by the game. This is a major drag as I've grown accustomed to changing weapons ahead of time while running. :-( It's great to have the direct weapon binds now, but only being able to use them while walking or standing still has minimalized their usefulness for me. Please allow the direct weapon binds to be recognized by the game while running as it is now with the weapon list.

    7) I like the new ability to peek as we could in Ghost Recon, but unfortunately this was not implemented as the "Zoom toggle" feature was. As a result, we can only peek one way or the other via this new game option. I was hoping to see a "Peek toggle" option added instead allowing us to peek boths ways in game. With the "Peek toggle" option turned off one would only stay in a peek while holding down the bind. When letting off the bind they would come out of the peek. With the "Peek toggle" option turned on one would still be able to peek the predescribed way, but also peek toggle where just tapping on the peek bind puts you into a peek, then requiring a second tap on the bind to take you out of it. Please consider revamping the peek function as I've suggested here. It makes too much sense not to do it. :-) It would be the best of both worlds just as we have now with the "Zoom toggle" feature.

    8) The new chat box display option is nice I guess, but there are still a few problems with chatting in general. Hopefully they are already on some official list of needed fixes. The items on my list regarding chat problems are below.

    a) My weapon still fires off one round when hitting up the chat binds. It's like sticking my finger in an electric socket. :-( I've gone back and done further testing on this. It only happens if you hit either chat bind after having fired with full-auto selected. Set to single shot I can't replicate this bug. Set to full-auto, accessing TeamChat or GlobalChat will cause your weapon to fire off a single round each and every time if you had just fired your weapon prior.

    b) When zoomed in with any weapon and hitting either global chat or team chat the zoom blips off, then back on again.

    c) When hitting a resupply in MP COOP I can never see any of the chat I'm typing in the chat box until I hit enter. When hosting I often use the "resupply" loadout as an opportunity to make sure everyone is on the same page as to our approach on the next objective. It would sure help if we could see our text on screen as we are actively typing it.

    d) I would like to see access to the chat box while one has their tactical map up. 99% of the time I don't have access to the chat box when I'm on my tactical map. Every once in a while the chat box is there for whatever reason. When playing COOP games it's important to be able to actively communicate with your team members while working the tactical map.

    e) Since the 1.16 patch I've noticing a strange anamoly when hosting regarding the lower chat window in the pre/post game lobby. Let's say that I've just completed a COOP mission with 3 client players and we've exchanged various chat in the lobby. If I shut the server down and create a new server all of that chat blips back up on the screen in the lobby again after sending my first chat. Very strange. This was not happening prior to the latest patch.

    9) I know these next two things weren't on the list of updates for this patch, but I really can't help but take the opportunity to mention them here again. In game controls are what impact my playing experience the most and these two things are sorely missed from GRAW in my opinion.

    a) Lack of an "Always Run" option.

I do a ton of running from cover point to cover point over quite long distances at times. Once you know these missions inside and out there's no fun in creeping along when you know there is no threat between where you are and the next hostile area. I find it even more of a drag when playing MP Domination. Everyone is running their silly legs off, including myself through safe zones to assist in turning or neutralizing the next zone in the supply line. Please add an "Always Run" option in the next patch, so I can give my "run" finger a rest. :-( For all that is holy!

    b) Lack of a "Shuffle" movement.

This is a Tom Clancy game after all, not to mention the latest in the Ghost Recon series. Without this option there is no way to move slower than a walk which is crucial for these Urban type levels that require so much cornering slowly in and out of cover. It's always been an available option in the Tom Clancy series. I can't be the only one sick of having to tap constantly on my walk bind one nudge at a time to clear around corners and recon. Without the "Shuffle" movement we've also lost the ability to silence our footsteps in close quarters situations. Having a "Shuffle" movement would offer this if implemented as in the prior games. As it stands now in MP Domination for instance, if your the one walking in a close quarters area and an opposing player is standing still you're announcing yourself to them. It just drives me bonkers that I can't "shuffle" in these situations! Please carry on more of the Tom Clancy traditions. The "Shuffle" movement was a big part of that tradition and it needs to be brought back.

    *Update*

Second new crash now. This time I was hosting the second of the new coop maps, "Mayday! Mayday!". Crash log is below. It occured just as I was C4'ing the 2nd target in the scrambled zone.

    Crash in application version: grpcrc1.16

data\lib\script_network\gametype\gametypelobby.dsf(-1): cant find member: _id in type <void>

The additional notes below are unrelated to the above crash log. Just wanted to share as the below issue is getting more annoying by the day.

When playing the new COOP mission "Contact!", my team was initially unable to get in the helo. I was, but not the client players. Luckily the helo finally appeared to them properly allowing them to get in so we could end the mission. I can't tell you how many times I've had to kill a team member or my whole team at the extraction zone, so that we could end the mission, because not all of us could get in the helo. Nearly half the time someone won't be able to get in the helo because it appears way off the ground to them and won't come down low enough. After spending 45 minutes on a mission with 3 other people online it's very disappointing to not be able to all load up in the helo together and fly off to the next assignment. It really sucks.

I am getting the same crash problems too!! Damn annoying

Just curious, how many ppl having problems went straight to 1.16 patch. I did incremental install and have no problems. Hosted dm(anti cheat off)...no problems....did see a couple guys try to join with the cd key error.

Don't know if this helps or not....just my observation....GR1 was tricky with the order of patches and expansion discs. That was the ONE thing that was nice about the lobby chat...being able to help others before the tards/hackers invaded it and forced ubi to shut it down.

    good luck all

i've had the same issues both ways and am now upto my 8th reinstall, but will now wait and see if there is a fix to come for it ....Damn !! i like the game very much too :o=

  12. I have a =3dS= firends that has a lot of difficulties in connecting to a server even if after patch 1.10 and if he can connet after each match he got still "ghost player" problems or permanent black screen.. He usually has to disconnect from server and reconnet...

He has an ADSL connection through a Router...

    Can anyone help my frinds???

    thanks a lot for suggestions

i got the same problem. forwarded all ports and stuff, lowered or disabled firewall, no antivir - nothing helps. i can't join in coop at all (black screen after start). and after a map change in domination mode i got the black screen as well.

    so..... noone has a suggestion!!????

    we need help :(

i have the same issue too, it did start after i put the 1.16 patch in, but not straight off and its just getting worse, i did all that i was advised to, but no diff' it wont let me koin or host..... Weird
