  1. Forget it... I quit.

Well !! i never thought i would see it, thats the best post u have made in this subject..

I was begining to think that it would make no difference what anyone else would post in responce to your hard line would have any merrit, and i was just thinking...man you need to get a life, LOL..

I have not read past this post, but i somehow dont think you will ever agree to disagree, and just get on with the object of the whole thing, and that is to play the game, ban whoever you like from your own server, and leave others to do it their way, i dont use the anti cheat, but if i see someone doing something over the top or stupid, OUT they go, end of story...

I'm not going to get baited by this... But, you really should read my other posts. Otherwise, you will not understand what I'm getting at. FlimFlam explained it a lot more.

And you took what I said entirely out of context.

I know you have not got my point, so here it is

I don't join all but a very few servers, i only run my own, and will do as i see fit on my own server, i also have altered files, you dont like it stay out !!! , plain enough for you

Oh, and i don't run any rubbish end for the game types either, its coop only for me, i don't have to feed the need to prove anything to anyone, you see i've grown past the mine is better that yours pi.sing contest stage in life

  3. The only time we have ever made it through a coop mission was when it was myself and one other player.

I guess this is just another bang-up job the makers of this game did. Sure, they can't help network traffic, but if you know it isn't going to work with more than two people, why allow it?

I know, I know, they have no control over the network and how clogged up it is, but this is just one other thing that in the end shines darkly over GRAW.

Sometimes I think this game is just destined to be a problem.

I too have this problem a fair amount of the time, and agree with your responce, I see it the same way "Paid the Money, AND Paid the PRICE"

  5. Aussiereg, are you Australian, could it be a local thing?

Last night every thing was fine, today it's just a nightmare.

yes i am australian and yes its a mightmare, and last night was just fine too, i will be intouch with my isp, iinet, and ask if they have any problems...

But it does say gamespy error !!!!

  6. It seems that you are both having account problems.

I know you may have read this before but give it a try any way.

    This thread is similar.

    Another solution below.

This can happen due to ZoneAlarm firewall. Open ZA and in the Firewall section, change the Internet Zone Security to Medium for the duration of your game.

Gamespy Account Issues: A lot of people are having problems logging in or creating a new Gamespy account in order to play online. If you've followed the normal method outlined on page 5 of the guide, and you've also installed the latest patch, and still have problems, keep in mind the following things which Gamespy believes may help resolve the problem: Not pressing enter before clicking login will result in an error; When you enter your nickname if you use your mouse cursor to click on the next field 'Password' it results in an error - You must use the tab key or press Enter; When creating a login, if you use the mouse cursor to move from field to field you lose everything you typed - You must press the enter key. Gamespy have made it clear that these type of issues must be resolved by Ubisoft.

    Multiplayer

Multiplayer is the online mode for GRAW, allowing you to play with other players over a network connection. To play with friends over a LAN connection, use the Local tab to join a LAN game if one is available. Most commonly though, you will want to play against opponents online over the Internet, so select the Internet tab. To play online though, you will need to have a Gamespy Account, and the quickest way to do that is to click the 'GameSpy Nickname' button. Enter your Nickname and Password for an existing Gamespy account, and if this doesn't work, or if you don't have a Gamespy account, then click the 'Create Account' button and fill in your details. Note that some people are having problems with this aspect of the game, so see the Troubleshooting Tips section for some possible solutions.

Once logged into your Gamespy account, to get a list of currently available online servers which you can potentially join, click the 'Update Server List' option at the top of the screen and wait for the list to populate. You can then join a server if it has an empty slot. Importantly, for minimal "lag" between your actions and their impact on the game when online, first set your 'Network Upload Speed' in bottom right hard corner of the Internet tab of GRAW Multiplayer to accurately match your Internet connection's upload speed. The default requirement is 512Kbits/s, however if you have a slower connection you can lower this down to 128Kbits/s, though note that some effects will be missing from online gameplay for you. Once you've done this, select a server which has the lowest Ping - preferably less than 100ms. Your Ping is the time in milliseconds (1000ms = 1 second) taken for a command or action you issue to travel to the server and then for the server to send back the impact of that command to your PC. The higher the ping, the higher the "lag" you experience. Servers which are physically closer to your location will have the best chance of the lowest consistent ping.

Furthermore, on many servers you may experience something called 'Packet Loss'. Packet loss is, as the name describes, lost data packets on the way to/from a server. This can result in odd online gameplay, like grenades suddenly disappearing, your character continually warping around, or being stuck in one place. In this case try another server, and if you get the same problem on all servers, it is your Internet connection which may be at fault - contact your ISP.

Finally, if you want to host an Internet game for others to join, click the 'Create Online Server' button at the bottom of the Internet tab in GRAW Multiplayer. Note that there are no dedicated server files for GRAW; a dedicated server is when a PC runs GRAW with minimal resource usage and noone actually playing from the host machine to provide the most optimal performance and minimal ping spikes. So instead if you are hosting a game on your machine, make sure you have plenty of upload bandwidth and don't try to host too many players, especially if players notice a lot of lag when playing on your server. See page 4 of the guide for more details of an upcoming patch which will add more Multiplayer modes to GRAW.

This information has been taken from tweak guides and is very helpfull.

My prefered method with GS is I have a unique Email account just for GS, which I did through fastnet.fm, I created a new email, and started from scratch in GS after reading all that there was to read.

I hope some of this info will help you.

Come back and let us know.

    Cheers

Sorry , but !! it is of no use at all, we are not new to the multiplayer lobby for GRAW , we have been playing online since its release and up untill about 12 hrs ago things worked, and now they dont, nothing has changed on my computer i dont run a firewall while playing GRAW, i dont run auto updates from MS either, and as i've said its only just started doing this and i am still unable to log into GS arcade as well....

  7. Ok I have just signed in to GS.

Just before you sign in your sign in name is red, once GS checks your sign in details and allow`s you in, it turns green.

Does your sign in stay red all the time.???

Or does it go green and online servers are then loaded.???

stays RED and after sometime says gamespy error, and to check things, same message as Metal Jacket gets !!

I too can do a local and lan game...

  8. Yes i am, and its just about past the joke stage now, ###### is wrong !!!! is it so hard for them to get it right, i wont stop complaining till they get it sorted out, or i get my money back...

nothing professional about this game's playability yet as far as i can see, its been put together by a very amateurish group, shoddy work at best, and ubisoft should never have gone near gamespy either, bloody control freaks... :wall::o=:g_guns::g_guns::wall:

sorry i neve ment to put it in 2 times

i am told can not connect to the gamespy servers, i am connecting everywhere else no problems, also i dont have a firewall up atm either

i've uninstalled the game once again and re done putting it back in, without any mods and still no luck in getting onto the servers, and its been like that now for about 10 hours too

i am still having no luck, not even gamespy arcade.....

  10. Killcam works great in COD2. It definitely weeds out alot of BS whining about being killed by hackers when a killcam will embarass you as to how blind you were to your opponent. And yes, I have uncovered some hackage because of it. This is a great addition, and alone may be recordable since it might enable client side recording.? Either way, its a step toward replays.

Just to clarify, it is not a "kill cam" that's been implemented. It's a "death cam", being able to spectate through the eyes of your remaining team mates when you are dead and have no respawns left.

I dont know what ur going on about, i am able to do that now with 1.20....once dead juat hit 1,2,3, and watch what they are doing...

  11. i hope this is in right spot, i do own the retail game, but can not join some of the multi player sessions, and the one's i can, i get to the inv' screen but when i try to go into the game i sit on a BLACK SCREEN and go no further, and for Co_op games its the same responce !!!

But i am able to host games and it works fine for me and most others manage to join and start with me, and some get caught on the BLACK SCREEN too !!

Has anyone got any idea's on this problem, PLEASE !!!

And i've put the new 1.20 patch in too, but for me it's same ol' same ol'

    :ph34r::g_guns::g_guns:

I was going to edit this above post , but could find no edit button, but no prob's

I need to ADVISE !!! I HAVE FIXED BLACK SCREEN ISSUE !!!!!

well at least for me, that is !!, it was caused by my broadband router, it filters UDP's and was not allowing some to pass through, as soon as i unhooked the router and used my old broadband modem i am able to join MP games coop and others....

i hope this will be for help to others and also some good news to GRIN too !!!

my games are fairly solid in play, and even with the few small AI problems, i am enjoying GR:AW more eveyday

    THANKS... :grin1::g_withgrin:

  12. Nope, I'm not gonna weed through a bunch of screenshots, I've seen AA before.

What is wrong with you, you got PMS or something, you got a real bug up ur ring, leave it alone !!, the way ur riding Agent Smith ur starting to sound like a tailgunner, i'll send ya jar of lube gell if ya get any closer :o=:o=

Anyway did anyone notice the NEW GRAW_TEST_2 Server going, ? a patch coming ? ? ?

    No, now s*t*f*u kiddo

Ouch !!! hehehe it must have been the truth, to be sooooo painful, :P:lol::o=:o=

  14. don't think it's a bug really. has anyone noticed a round coming out of the barrel at the time of the shot? maybe a sound of it hitting anything? i haven't. i believe this to be a little MP twist, letting your teammates know you're about to type something... don't remember seeing my ammo count go down either. it's a blank.

i've had the same thing happen, but always see a round, hit a wall or ground, so i think its a bug...

  15. Hi all,

I for one would like to go on record as being very pleased with GR:AW thus far, and quite pleased with the patches as well, I realize that number and size of patches after a certain time does not necessarily make a good game (example: RvS), but I do appreciate the effort. Would you all rather have no patches?

What I do not appreciate is the amount of name calling and bitching around here, if you have a problem then by all means post it so that it can be worked out, but if you need to vent a bit please scream at your monitor, beat up your computer desk, or something. Posting here calling GRIN or their efforts a failure, or attacking other members, is not going to make anyone listen to you any more or get your particular problem addressed with any more speed; in fact if I worked for GRIN I would probably just ignore you completely.

    :)

    Clark

I go along with what you have said, but !!! I've still had no responce...from anyone !!! Via my posting or emailing re-problem getting to the loadout " Inventory "screen, I ( black screen after launch from lobby ) in any multiplayer game through gamespy, I can host online multiplayer game types with some success most times, but it would be nice to have some kind of responce to the issues i am having..( BlackScreens, Dropping out to windows when re-arming AI's, Dropping to windows at start of mission if real team member fails to start with you, And the Infamous.... Crash in application version: blah, blah, "cant find member: world_pos in type <void>" ), just to name some...

  16. well at least one of you got it right, :stupid: , you lot take the prize, any closer and u would need a tub of lube gel. and you miss the point, WE PAID FOR A WORKING PROGRAM....AND NEVER GOT WHAT WE PAID FOR....THAT'S MONEY UNDER FALSE AND OR MISLEADING PRETENCES....

Now they maybe working hard to fix things, and thats all well and good, i am going to wait for the fixes and patches, like everyone else has to, BUT !! that does not alter the fact that we never got what we paid for, so at the moment our only recourse is to express our dissatisfaction, and if that taste sour then so be it.....:o=:o=

  17. Then why wasn't the game finished before it was released? Why were there so many obvious bugs? Why were three patches needed within the short period of time the game has been out to finally just start to address basic functionality issues and bugs? Why did the disconnect issues last thru two patches before it was finally addressed - almost? Why was Grin trying to quickly add new features when the basic problems with the game aren't fixed yet (and don't say its because your responding to the communities wishes to make it look like your paying attention because it just doesn't appear true - even tho we do appreciate the new features), was it to distract customers from the problems that still persist? Is the answer to these questions the most obvious 'We will release it and get them to pay for it and then let them test it so we can fix it?"

Nothing 'disgruntled' there at all, everyone saw or noticed these things. Attempting to downplay someones dissatisfaction with the product, a customers dissatisfaction, a paying customers dissatisfaction, in the manner you did simply shows disrespect for the paying customer.

'Conspiracy theory'? yes maybe a little bit, but in every theory, conspiracy or not, there is a bit of truth...and honestly it doesn't appear that Grin has been really forthright with their customers.

So...it doesn't matter what Grin thinks...were the paying customers...and deserve more then a representative of Grin or UBI talking down to us like we made the whole thing up. You don't seem to understand something, we don't work for you...thats right...we don't work for you...we are the customer and you simply can't talk to us this way, we paid for the product and expect you to deliver what was promised. So keep your opinions to your self, you don't have any right to decide in any way what is and is not a 'conspiracy theory' especially when the very core, at the very root, of what your calling a 'conspiracy theory' is that one piece of truth that neither Grin nor UBI delivered the product that was expected when it was paid for.

That the co-op is lacking at the moment, I can agree to.

But to say there is no hope for it - that is, assuming that we are lying about the upcoming improvements to the co-op mode - is a tad bit too pessimistic. It's just your disgruntled self speaking.

I thought people knew better these days than to hang on to these "UBI are trying to steal our money and dump toxic waste on our back lawn" conspiracy theories.

And your right too, we don't work for them, no....they work for us.... we the paying public, for without us they would not be able to do, what they would have us belive they can, AT ALL !!

Having said that, i understand as they the Dev's do, that" what can go wrong, will go wrong " and are doing all they can to rectify the issues...

Also !! it is true " Only the squeaky wheel is oiled " so feed back in whatever form is positive

  18. Stalker' date='Jul 5 2006, 03:09 PM' post='396052']

I just got over that scare with the US Veterans' Administration losing my info.

    Long Live GRIN! :g_guns:

    I got that letter too.

    Me too.

You people that complain about the complainers are the most useless posters on any of these forums. You seem to think that you are the center of the universe. You're like the gelatinous mounds of pasty flesh that clog the aisles of Walmart's grocery, oblivious to the fact that other people KNOW which brand of rice (they're all pretty much the same, you human flotsam) they want and don't appreciate having to wait because you chose to park your fat posterior AND your cart lengthwise in front of the whole freakin display.

Toniezz...the majority? "...few ignorant boohoos"? Where do you get your figures from? That statement and that attitude is what is ignorant. I'm really glad for the co-op crowd. I truly hope you DO finally get the game you wanted, if you aren't one of lucky few who think you already did. However, I'll let you in on a little secret. The MAJORITY of people who have waited 5 years for the next installment of GR are not happy at all, whether they play SP, MP Co-op, or MP TvT. The list of LEGITMATE complaints is massive. Many of the complaints are MAJOR issues, not small quibbles.

Is personally attacking the devs or forwarding ridiculous conspiracy theories helpful? Of course not. That doesn't change the fact that the game (forget the gameplay for minute) has so many problems that it is virtually unplayable for the huge number of us who primarily play TvT MP. The real numbers speak for themselves there, as in the number of available servers, the number of people playing on them, etc. Raven Shield still has hundreds of servers and thousands of players after all this time. BF2 had 1000+ servers up within a few days of release and still does. For MP team players, those are the real numbers. I'm not going to rehash what it would take for GRAW to achieve some level success with this huge segment of the FPS gaming world. It may be too late, I don't know. What I do know is that marginalizing my concerns and those of thousands of other dedicated MP players does not serve you or the future of this game.

I'm absolutely certain that GRIN is doing the best they can with what they have to work with and I don't fault them. However, that doesn't change the fact that for my particular demographic of player (competing TvT MP), this game is FUBAR.

you have said what was need to be said and i agree, its not looking too good at all, i hope that with not too much time they might find a cure, before i do remove the life support, that i've had to place it on :(

  19. Can we get a widescreen fix for the July patch please? My desire to play this game on a $900 widescreen monitor at a 4:3 res makes me look to other games...

I'm playing on a WS and have never had any troubles with the resolution in GRAW, even after the patches (I'm using 1440 x 900)

Of the 14 or so people I've talked to who have widescreen, you are the FIRST person whom I have met that hasn't had a problem.

Are you sure your eyes arn't seeing what's happening? Does your screen "Jump" after ~15 minutes of play (Re: the 1.20 patch takes longer for the aspect ratio to skew - I think this is related to the AC somehow). Then, a few minutes later, it'll reset itself. It really strains my eyes to see my screen jumping like that all the time.

Granted, my screen also jumps whenever I attempt to type something. A shot will fire out of my gun - without using ammo - and the screen will jump. If GRIN wants a video of this - I'll grab my video camera and take a few short films for them. (Re: e-mail me or PM me plz)

Quick Edit: a couple of notes. 1) the widescreen skewing didn't happen till 1.16 patch. It was fine in the 1.10 patch. 2) The type-skew happened since I installed the game - I think it might be a widescreen specific bug.

i've got viewsonic VA1912wb, and have had no issues with the game on it at all

  20. Mmmm yes, I was just corrected of this by my buddy asrock. Ooops.

Ok, so you can coop over the internet. But its still through gamespy... which sucks!

your right it needs an option to host or join from a mulitplayer lobby by entering an IP Address, and not just GameSpy, i love that in [GR], and yes to all the modes of game play too

  21. If you necessarily have to add 'quick save', then just add a limited number of them.

    Still, the checkpoints are enough.

Yes i think the check point are enough, after all " to me " this is a Sim' and should be approached as if u where doing it, and ur life depended on doing it right "never being seen, very rarely heard, a felt with great impact" if u make mistakes u pay the price, i like it just as it is, the way u do the job determines the outcome, so carry your big stick, tread carefully..kick butt and take names... ...and feel good when you finish...

there are a few problems with it, i dont think anyone could really say otherwise, but givin time it will be easier to run stable i hope !!

Only other thing i feel is a little unreal is the amount of AI's on each mission, there's just not enough, and no NCP's ? why, there needs to be more in buildings to clear out, and when set to hard the enemy numbers should be increased by 25%

Nice try GRIN, failure once again.

Still having consistent problems with anti-cheat disconnects. Our users are getting booted en masse...

Played in 3 different servers tonight. Lots of disconnects. The cd-key issue has been fixed, but now "altered game files" as well as just basic disconnects are common. Wasn't much a problem for me in 1.16. Only think I've changed in my xml file was my name (to add clan tag) and it didn't work so I changed it back. So no, I don't have hax.

Someone mentioned reboot, and I'll try that. But I don't think I'm only one of a few who are having these problems. Not a complaint, just an observation.

made exactly the same observations  !

same issues here and black screen when trying go in after inventory screen too, its made no difference the new patch... for me
