  1. Hi-res--I'll give it a try. Got to work on my aim a bit in the other:o= .
  2. Apex, went with the packaged deal--bringing back memories--thx.
  3. Picked up game for 49/00 plus tax at local store sale. Am most of the way through and I'm at 14hrs of play thus far. Like the game thus far, but wish they had set up tutorial part outside of the game and the hold r and look got old real quick. The shift and crawl bit--MW2--and the stand and cant shoot parts--MOH I could do without. I think replay will be good--while more funneled than original there are still different tactics that could be used on each level. Just a pistol Evilducky? Will uninstall when through and go back to v1.1 so I can mod weapons and get rid of that dumb sway--they must not have any strength in their forearms or know how to tuck weapon into shoulder. Also can add a weapon slot and use infiniteammo(only 5 mags with scar). Nephew said infinite ammo better done this time--still have reload feature-no unlimite clip(I detest running back to ammo boxes). Playing game on hard level. Already campaign is 3x the length of MOH. When sdk comes out in August or whenever mods will be fun to play. Actually worth the money in my mind.
  4. Apex, just watched the videos, that looks great. Thanks for the info. Know what I'll be doing next weekend.
  5. Long live the Duke. Duke Nukem was first pc game I played and I was no kid when I started. I've kept an old computer and monitor just to play original on from time to time. Love the one liners. What's 2 more months when we've been waiting 12 years, right Apex.
  6. Appreciate the feedback folks. 13hrs of sp play--now thats worth a look. Tinker, I still play Crysis as there are hundreds of mod levels that have been created. It's an open environment with a few tight routes sprinkled in. AI problem sounds the same as both previous titles--don't have smarts to walk around objects.
  7. Tinker, with my old fart reflexes, I need all the help I can get. Even tho the Crysis series doesn't have sp game modes like recon/firefight, I still enjoy playing both(crysis and warhead), trying new approaches, even now. Even Crysis fan sites are a little up and down on the new one, the overall feel is most still enjoy it. Z, I'm with you, money is very tight. Keep an eye on d2d download site-http://www.direct2drive.com/-they are having 30 days of sales. Yesterday I bought medal of honor for under $8-75% off(no way I was going to pay 59 or even 29 for 4-5 hrs of singleplay time). Today, battlefield 2 bad company is on sale at 50% off, worth keeping an eye on it. Also, Duke Nukem is out in June, I hope.
  8. Pave Low, would greatly appreciate hearing updates on sp campaign--12hrs?, thats more than twice the length of moh/cod/modern warfare sp play. Tinker--don't use cloak and see what happens .
  9. WK, very nice read, author did a good job of looking at issue from both angles. See he mirrors the sentiments of many here--don't buy and developers will have to change and online drm only hurts legitmate consumers.
  10. A fully gassed 747 would have the explosive force of approximately 1 mega ton --no building can absorb that much explosive effect as well as the incredible temps created. The fire softened the metal, the buildings weight brought them down. Bota is on the money--remember, it took time before the towers collapsed.
  11. Thales100, better put a disclaimer/warning up for Cpl Led, that game gave him nightmares--I loved it!
  12. Sounds interesting, keep us apprised of further development. If it impresses us you can be sure the membership here will get the word out to other forums. Ahhh, the thought of being able to pick one's own kit like R6 is delightful, as well as tactical ai. Any chance of the old style firefight/recon game modes for sp/coop types? Actually you could combine the 2 and just allow player(s) to kill all or sneak around to an extraction point.
  13. John, I'd say that warning would cover you from any civil liability. I enjoy good humor, and am always amazed with the "creative" talent that dreams up such spoofs. Will have to check youtube more often with this drm thing boiling over. Good find.
  14. John, John John, in future please put warning in post. I blew a mouthful of coffee threw my nose and onto my monitor. Thanks for the laughs tho .
  15. I could live with register online, as with MW2, but no offline mode for my sp play, and I'll pass, no matter how hot the game looks.
  16. Nah, you're all missing the point. Future Soldier--as in not one yet. We'll be seeing Mitchell in his youth, learning the basics of warfare in playing "army" with the neighborhood kids, snow forts and snowball fights, progressing to tactical paintball fights, then finally honing his ommand skills on video rts games .
  17. It would be nice---spec ops definitely could use more spec op type missions and fewer snowmobile races and fights with juggernauts. This Bowling guy stated they went strictly with IWnet, no console and no modding for the "good" multiplayers, totally alienating the sp community. My game was purchased by a nephew, otherwise I would have waited as I did with cod4 and bought it for less than half priced. If IW doesn't undo the mess it has created, mw2 will fall in price much quicker than cod4 did. While I found much of the campaign to be enjoyable, weapon selection, which is still forced on you, even in spec ops(multiplayer can choose) is bizarre on some ops. Fortunately, I was able to bind keys for give certain weapons(if they are in map being played)to better equip myself. Friendly ai are dumber this time around on some ops, getting way too far out in front, but still enjoyable overall, but not 60/00 worth.
  18. BS Paladin, it does to me now. I really like an enemy that is tactical, just don't like, say with GRAW1/GRAW2?even original GR, enemy with iron sights shooting with accuracy of a sniper or having game turn into a frag fest. I would like to see longer vision tied to type of weapon enemy is carrying--sniper rifle yes, assault/smg class no. Can't count how many times, especially with graw series, I sneak up to corner of stone wall or building and have a tank or soldier already dialed in on me though they did not see my appraoch and weren't close enough to hear me-that equates to my "uber" vision remarks. Having better weapons is fine, even increase tatics or setting claymores--just no frag/rpg fests. It would increase length of firefights and increase length of gameplay, which I would think would appeal to developers. Also going back to what noquarter said, if you're going to saddle the player with ai teammates, make them tactical and worthwhile in the missions. Graw2 tried to improve, but many times my ai would go around in front of the cover I tried to place them behind. I don't want to spend my gaming time nurse maiding around friendly ai--detracts from the game. I'd like to be able to point to a building, tell ai to clear it while I cover the exterior. The Rosen mission worked well for friendly ai as it was an open map, they followed waypoints well and were able to cover me while I went in to get Rosen.
  19. BS Paladin, cheap? Hardly, it requires more effort to addin xtra ai to map than changing a couple lines of code to see further or frag more. When I say make ai worthwhile, I'd bet Noquarter is the same, that's friendly and enemy. If the enemy start out tactical(my preference) having more increases the challenge. Guess we can agree to disagree. Oldghost, agreed, don't care much for the big push type missions. There was an old saying around the PD I worked at that probably gets said around the military as well--"if you don't get there you're not doing anybody any good". Call of Duty 4/Modern Warfare 2(received as gift-not worth 60.00 to me as sp too short), which I enjoy for the action could slow things a bit. Would love to see a mission with lots of grass like the Chernobyl mission in COD 4, where you can ghillie up, crawl around and quietly "terminate with extreme prejudice" and make your way out.
  20. Tinker, I got lucky,a nephew got it for me. I waited to get COD4 for 20 bucks. There's more replay for sp with the spec ops missions. Unfortunately, many are just timed mayhem. Only a few are firefight/recon/hostage oriented. A sniper mission on Chernobyl map from cod4 is alot of fun.
  21. No more lugging huge at4 around to do in armor. C4 or air/helo strikes or simply allowed to avoid. I'm a lone wolf type, only time I liked having team was to protect hostages. If you throw AI in, like NoQuarter stated, make them worthwhile or just leave them out. I liked the lone wolf missions in graw 1 when scanner was knocked out and it was just you against the masses. Didn't/don't care for uber aim of enemy on harder levels--just give us same aim but more enemies as we progress. Get rid of the uber vision as well--no seeing through bushes or long range vision at night.
  22. You must be new to the Task Force 141. We get deployed to out of the way spots alot--always looking for companionship . No sheep around on our latest ventures--word must have gotten out--lots of chickens though.
  23. I did all right against Soap, Shephard bunch, but that Juggernaut from other room creamed me. Hitting the button and quickly running into museum room with tank worked well for me. Either hide at rear of tank or climb on it's back and go prone behind turret. Funny vid Swartz. Does naked blowup doll on crates under stairs of Safehouse(Ghost/Roach mission) across from computer you must protect count as easter egg?
  24. tinker, it's far more sinister than that--we have alien involvement here. Seems a force field goes up at 150m and a penetrator round such as the barrett uses is required. <var name="weapon_penetration_type" value="1"/> <!-- will penetrate walls --> <var name="weapon_min_range" value="600"/> <!-- --> <var name="weapon_max_range" value="30000"/> <!-- --> added above lines to u_msg xml, used rpghard's border map as he has same sniper character type in plainview and it worked beyond 150m but wouldn't work without penetration value.
  25. tinker, you would have to change draw distance on props as well to know for sure, but I think we are hitting the wood support beam sniper is hiding behind. I was 5 for 5 with barrett as it penetrates objects. Couldn't hit him with msg or m14 until in range to see that wood support. I made distance at 183, standing with my back against rock hillside by spawn point. The sb_templates contain default values which are changed in weapons xml unless script calls for default values. A map without any obstructions between you and target would probably best answer your question. I'll give a try on a couple of rpghard's maps as he utilizes that sniper type character and see.
