  1. Italian GRAW2 site is up to date with beta test announce (next opening) at least a new pic, if i'm correct:

Beta test will be on Calavera map, TDM and Recon vs. Assault.

    http://ghostrecon.it.ubi.com/

    graw2pc_urban-warfare-2s.jpg

Things I notice in the new screenies.

    - MUCH MUCH higher resolution textures. Look at the SCAR for instance, it looks better, especially the scope.

    - Shadows are now more defined rather than "nearly visible" as in GRAW 1.

    - Indigenous forces?!

  2. If you missed out on my latest version, the FEAR edition, get it at:

    http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=41642

I currently have a lot of time on my hands and am quite bored with the games I am playing. Whenever I am bored, I mod!

Mirr has recently given me some suggestions and adding physical gore (As in severed arms and such) by looking at damage managers.

Here's the ideas that I have so far:

    1. Find a way to make blood splat more often before a soldier dies.
    2. Create physical gore.
    3. Make a blood pool spawn whenever a soldier dies.
    4. Make explosions look more "meaty".
    5. Make the weapons sound more powerful.
    6. Add more enemies to the single player maps.

These are all little things that I know I can do, but the time required may take within a day, a week, maybe even months.

    What are your suggestions?

  3. While there might be no prizes for guessing where the second map - "Dam" - takes place, it ably demonstrates the flip-side of GRAW 2's gameplay, with an insane onslaught of enemies, with bullets ricocheting off walls all around.

The biggest concern I had SP wise in GRAW 1 was the lack of blood and severe lack of enemies. Seems that's also fixed :) (I can mod blood in again since it's running on Diesel yet again)

    EDIT:

    SMGs!?

    http://media.pc.ign.com/media/862/862426/img_4329890.html

  4. Penetration's easy, people modded that into Counterstrike 1.6. It's more of a gameplay dispute.

Destructible environments are either very easy or very hard, depending on how they're done. You need to remember what kind of strain having all of that stuff server-sided puts on the host; massive lag is to be expected unless it's really well optimized.

There's also penetration in DoD: S, and nearly every weapon except the SMGs and pistols will go through walls like it's not even there.

  5. Could be your monitor doesn't support it. For whatever reason, my monitor (ViewSonic VX2025WM) does not show 1440x900 at all. It only can do 1680x1050, 1280x1024, 1024x768, 800x600 and lower. Check your specs for your monitor :)

EDIT: You can try and force the monitors resolution to something else. I don't remember how, but if you click on the Tweak Guides banner in my sig it'll take you to a site that has a GRAW tweak guide. Somewhere in there it'll tell you how to adjust the resolution in the .xml files.

EDIT 2: If you give your monitor make and model number, I can try and find what official resolutions are supported for your monitor. They don't make it very easy to find, unfortunately.

I have the same monitor. It DOES support 1440x900, it just doesn't show it. Google a program called PowerStrip, which allows you to add any custom resolution that you can think of.

  6. As long as it has the same requirements as GRAW 1 I'll be golden.

However the Supreme Commander demo makes my PC choke on the bigger maps (which is one of the points of the whole point of the game, big maps). Must resist urge to do expensive upgrades!

    What are your specs?

Considering it is running on the Diesel engine again, I wouldn't be surprised if the requirements are the same, or even lower.

  7. Because there is so much clutter in the main thread, and I cannot edit my own post (Makes sense, it's nearly 3 months old), I decided to make a seperate thread to stop all of the confusion of download links once and for all.

Agent Smith's Effects Mod: FEAR Edition

    For: Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////

PARENTAL NOTICE: This effects mod has included blood that does not reflect upon the rating made on the game by the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board), and it is bloodier than the standard stock product.

The blood amount is equivalent to a Mature (M) rated game.

NOTICE: You MUST have Effects quality on HIGH in order for this mod to work.

NOTICE 2: Note, by installing this mod, you agree that you are installing this mod at your OWN RISK. If your PC stops normal function in anyway, in any form, that it is not caused by me. You agree to install this mod at your own risk.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////

    FEAR Edition additions:

    - Splattering blood! Thanks to the revolutionary work of mirr, the Effects mod now has reached a level of realism that I have aimed for ever since I started modding. In addition, there is more blood

    than mirr's mod stock.

    - Higher quality blood decals, they look much more realistic now. (However, Grass will NOT have blood on it, due to a fix to prevent blood from splattering when there is no soldier around.)

    - More realistic looking blood cloud.

    - More realistic looking bullet hole decal on Concrete and Asphalt surfaces.

    Removed additions:

-Intros being skipped. This has caused a guaranteed crash after the TDM patch has been released.

    Known issues:

    - The .50 turret spawns NUMEROUS blood splats whenever it is firing at the Ghosts.

    - Blood does not splat that often when a soldier is hit.

    - Blood decals on soldiers clip within the model.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////

    V 2.0:

    - Edited Weapon names

    - Blue corners in the HUD are now removed.

    - Blood decals on bodies will now stay on the bodies when the NPC dies. Only applies to fighting NPCs such as your Ghosts, the Mexicans, and the US Marines.

    - Blood cloud on impact is now even BIGGER. Around two times as large. (I'm a blood lover, sorry.)

    - Fix for bug for when a cardboard box is hit, it displays the blood decal. It now displays the proper decal.

    - Small props now collide with wheels.

    - Single shot on weapons is now even faster than before. (INCLUDING the Mexicans' G36 and their LMG (Don't know the name).) THE M249 SAW DOES NOT HAVE A SINGLE SHOT MODE.

    - Tracers are now removed. (If you want them, just delete the e_tracers.xml in the Effects folder.)

    - renderer_settings.xml XMLs have been removed.

    - Intros have been skipped for faster loading.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////

    V1.0:

    - Blood now appears on bodies when you shoot them! However, a fix for the marks of blood on bodies dissappearing after you kill the character has yet to be found. (My game crashes when I load the suspected fix, so I removed it.)

    - Bigger blood cloud when someone is hit.

    - Bodies can now be pushed and moved by the player.

    - Small props (Plants for example) can now be pushed and moved by the player.

    - Grenade craters will now stay forever.

    - Bullet holes will now stay forever.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////

    Directions to install:

If you still have the slo-mo problem

    -----------------------------------------------

Installation directions to fixing the slo-mo problem

    1. Make a backup of your current Local -> English folder.

    2. Move out the mods from the Local -> English folder (NOT from the backup) that do not pertain to the effects or textures folder (If there any custom textures that you are using such as skins for the Ghosts, move them out as well).

    3. DELETE all of the folders remaining.

    4. Insert the Blood only mod via the links above.

    5. Go into the Effects folder and check to see if there are ANY other .xmls that are NOT:

     e_bullet_hits_high.xml

If so, delete them. DO NOT DELETE THE DECALS FOLDER.

    6. Load the game and see if it's still there. If not, play away!

  8. I get the exact same thing with the blood only download ... Tons of xml files along with the blood ones ...

Am I on crack or something? Apparently the "optimum blood only" download has the slo-mo stuff and the REAL Blood only one has been deleted due to lack of downloads.

I'm re-uploading them, and then slapping the links onto the first post:

  9. - All urban combat.

    - Gore that matches Gears, SOF II, and has the blood amount of Chronicles of Riddick.

    - AA's firefights.

    - Sprint button AND melee with every weapon.

    - "Where you fire is where you hit" type of hit registration and ballistics.

    - Proper ballistics (IE. Shotguns kill within 10 feet, assault rifles are all-around, while snipers are pin-point accurate)

    - Full scale environment destruction, on a larger scale than Company of Heroes.

    - Ability to cook and throw back frags.

    - AI that actually becomes smarter and flanks you more often when set on the higher difficulties. (NOT just more accurate/ deals more damage)

    - Non-idiotic squad AI.

    - Squad of 4 including yourself.

    - Single-player only.

    - Semi-realism style. (Using real-world locations, ballistics, weaponry, tactics, but none of the waiting around or down times)

    - Story that ties in with today's politics and has predictions of what might happen next.

    - Running on Unreal Engine 3.

  10. Rundown of 360 vs PC version:

    Graphics

    -----------------

PC wins. The ability to display at 1680x1050 compared to 1280x720 (Which is 720p) makes the world of Mexico look much more sharper. Not only that, but the stock decals are more refined, shadows are better looking, and the character models are actually awe-inspiring. Every time I see Mitchell's face in the 360 version, he looks like a baby's head with an elite soldier's body. I'm serious. There's like no facial detail at all. Lighting is slightly better on the 360 (Mainly specular), and animations are MUCH more realistic on the 360.

    Sound

    ---------------------------

PC again. The voice acting is SEVERELY cheesy in the 360 version (For god's sake, don't pick Paul Smith! His voice acting is the cheesiest that I've ever heard!) However, the weapons and explosions sound more powerful on the 360 version compared to the PC version. The PC version makes the assault rifles sound like pea shooters.

    Controls

    --------------------------

All about preference here. I kick ass with both controller and KB + M, so it's a tie for me. The lack of individual orders is indeed noticeable, but it's not really necessary considering that the AI of your Ghosts is actually better than I expected. The "cover system" in the 360 version is quite lacking due to the lack of a button to snap you into cover. You have to actually walk into the item in order to get into cover.

    Gameplay

    -------------------------

Mexican AI is stupider on the 360 version, but there are more soldiers and longer firefights. The 360 version is indeed more about run and gun compared to the PC version. However, the PC version wins the cake if you want tactics.

    Overall

    ------------------------

    PC wins. Why? Mods!

  11. There seems to be many different links for various different versions of this mod all in this thread and I am a bit concerned that I do not have the downloads section here populated with all the relevant versions, or even if I should just have one version in the downloads section.... could someone spell it out for me.. please?

The optimum one for Blood only would be this one:

    http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...0622&st=60#

  12. Look I checked you download file again and there are a whole bunch of xml files in the effects folder - like e_ambience.xml, e_explosions xml, probably well over a dozen or so, plus many other files that do not appear to be blood mod only related. This is from your download link above which purports to be the blood only mod. (You provided three alternate D/L sites in a post above. Have you posted the wrong files?

I just checked my files. It's not on my end nor are the wrong files posted. Just simply DELETE those extra .XMLs you were talking about. ONLY the e_bullet_hits_high.xml affects the Blood.

  13. I have downloaded this and installed it - I still get the slo mo. No idea whats going on. As I said I have this mod and the M4 Sop mod installed in the English folder - all other mods are in their own folder and activated separately so perhaps I should do that with your mod?????

Are you POSITIVE that there is no OTHER .xml in the Local -> English -> Effects folder? The ONLY one that should be in there considering that you downloaded the Blood only version is e_bullet_hits._high.xml. If there are any others in that folder (Ignore the decals folder, it's suppose to be there), delete them.

  14. So, I've got rid of the slo-mo effects. Good. But now my tracers are back from the weapons... How do I do now, to get no tracers??? :P

No tracers? I made a mini-mod for the [GR] Community Pack for GRAW to remove tracers. Get it here.

    http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...c=37021&hl=

Sorry but I am totally confused. I have downloaded your blood only version (see above.) Are you saying that installation of this should fix the slo mo problem I mentioned above?

Indeed. The latest Blood only version (This one: http://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php...d=444126&#) has the slo-mo problem removed.

  15. Well, i did what you said, but the slo-motion effects are still there... I tried to erase "e_bullet_hits_physx.xml" in "Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter\local\English\effects" dir. But its still there... What can I do?

So you inserted the e_bullet_hits_high.xml in the Effects folder right? If so, just delete ALL of the .xmls besides that. If the delete key doesn't work, just right click and hit Delete.
