My sound card is a Crystal Audio WDM card and I have turned down the sound options and it still does not work, the gfx were turned down too

i have a pentium 3 933 mhz with 256 mb of ram and a GeForce4 mx 420 and it has always done this.

While I'm playing Ghost Recon when I walk there will be a popping sound and when I shoot the game goes into frames. I have tried many sound options but they dont work i need help!
