  1.   COD isn't a bad game either and I'm currently having lot's of fun playing it.  Check out the "Call of Duty" thread.

COD ROCKS! I've never seen anything quite like it in terms of A.I. interaction and spacial effects. Somehow they managed to create a feel of size, scope, depth, distance, etc., in a way that no other shooter has. It felt short, though ~ maybe because it was so damn cool.

I think I'm going to opt for the PC version of DTR ~ I just saw a bunch of the extra features:

Selectable skill levels provides a uniquely tuned gaming experience for everyone from the first-time action player to the seasoned gaming veteran

Enhanced Human Shield mode allows for tighter control and faster movement, while added shield victim durability to increases effectiveness

Improved Camera System Invert camera option allows the player to customize the camera controls

Enhanced fighting system is faster and more furious, featuring additional attack combos for Jack and unique enemy attacks

Quick Holster feature allows the player to shoot and disarm enemies in stride without stopping the action

Enhanced Auto-Targeting system is smarter, choosing the most appropriate threat

Quick Attack feature gives the player instant access to Shadows devastating attacks

Enhanced toss-n-shoot to allow the player to switch targets while a canister is in flight

New Cheats, tons of cheats and special modes have been made accessible for the first time

Easier Disarms increase access to unlocking DTR's over-the-top disarms sequences

Mini games easier and less repetitive

  2. My list of shooting games is fast becoming formidable. This is definitely my favorite genre now and I’m now completely obsessed with owning all of the best shooters out there. There are a few that I am considering:

    1. Dead To Rights (http://www.deadtorights.com/) ~ this has been re-released for about 20 bucks as a “classic” of shooters and is often compared to Max Payne. It also just came out on PC, so I'm curious to see how it compares to the Xbox version.

    2. Half-Life (http://half-life.sierra.com/) ~ I'm already excited about HL2 just from reading about it.. But I never played the original on console or PC.

    3. True Crime (http://www.activision.com/microsite/truecrime/) ~ now that it's out I've heard mostly disappointing opinions. Hope it's not as bad as what I've seen people say so far.

So those are a few of the ones I’m looking at right now. Any feedback would be cool. Also, I have listed below all the shooters I already own and others I plan to get.

  3. Anyways for future games that i believe well take over GR's place maybe

one called Far Cry It just might the game of the year!  :-

    Man, I can't WAIT for Far Cry. I saw that game at E3 and it was one of the top of my list for PC games. Another one I really want to get for PC is Dead To Rights. Has anyone played that on Xbox already? Judging from the site (http://www.deadtorights.com) and the screens, it seems like it'svery similar to Max Payne;

  4. FAR CRY by Far .

Oh yes ~ I can't believe I don't already have Far Cry on my list of shooters to get. It was one of the coolest things I saw at E3 (aside from the curvaceous showgirls at some of the booths). So here's my revised list of 'must-get' shooters:

    Kill Switch

    Halo 2

    Deus Ex 2

    Half Life 2

    S.W.A.T. Global Strike Team

    DX: Invisible War

    Metal Gear Solid 3

    Max Payne 2

    Far Cry

    Hitman 3

  5. I love the games where 1 bullet is all u need, not 5 to the chest then a magical health pack apperars to save u. :nono:

  6. Yeah, I can't argue with Half-Life or Doom. I can hardly stand the wait for HL2 and Doom 3. That also goes for Halo 2, which improved the genre leaps and bounds as far as I'm concerned. You can also add Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Battlefield 1942 and the Grand Theft Auto series to my list of most innovative shooters. I don't know how "innovative" RTCW would be considered, but I simply have so much fun with that game that I have to add it just for sentimental purposes. I suppose the maps are so well-done that you could say it has raised the bar for level design.

    As for future titles, there are many sequels to look forward to, but the one new title that has me most intrigued is Kill Switch (http://www.killswitch.com/). For a console shooter, it looks remarkably well-done. The A.I. is supposedley going to be superior to the usual level and it's going to incorporate a predominant use of blind cover-fire tactics that other shooters don't. Not to mention the fact that it looks so damn cool;

  7. Splinter Cell on XBox hooked up to Dolby Digital 5.1 is unreal.

?? I can see that being true for a 'sound' game, like MOH frontline (durning the beach scene), but Splinter Cell is more about how realistic-looking it is - I'd be more interested than seeing it on some 57" flatscreen TV with optimum color for those great lighting graphics, than to worry so much about sound. Don't get me wrong ~ I play it in surround sound through my system too, 'cuz sound is important to me, but do you see my point?

I guess you're not going to answer that. Not that it's important... I'm sure we both agree that the game looks and sounds spectacular. Sadly, they didn't pick the best screens to show off just how spectacular it really is (http://www.splintercell.com/us/ - they should have included more outdoor shots; those were the best shots in the game.)

  9. My votes on ghost recon, as the most realistic game i've played.

I have Ghost Recon, and I think it's fairly realistic. It's fantastic if you love sniping enemies. I'd say of the Tom Clancy games that Splinter Cell has to be the most impressive overall. The lighting effects in that game are so beyond what I've seen anywhere else. The thermal and night vision are unprecedented too. Have you played it?
