  1. COD ROCKS! I've never seen anything quite like it in terms of A.I. interaction and spacial effects. Somehow they managed to create a feel of size, scope, depth, distance, etc., in a way that no other shooter has. It felt short, though ~ maybe because it was so damn cool. I think I'm going to opt for the PC version of DTR ~ I just saw a bunch of the extra features:
  2. My list of shooting games is fast becoming formidable. This is definitely my favorite genre now and I’m now completely obsessed with owning all of the best shooters out there. There are a few that I am considering: 1. Dead To Rights (http://www.deadtorights.com/) ~ this has been re-released for about 20 bucks as a “classic” of shooters and is often compared to Max Payne. It also just came out on PC, so I'm curious to see how it compares to the Xbox version. 2. Half-Life (http://half-life.sierra.com/) ~ I'm already excited about HL2 just from reading about it.. But I never played the original on console or PC. 3. True Crime (http://www.activision.com/microsite/truecrime/) ~ now that it's out I've heard mostly disappointing opinions. Hope it's not as bad as what I've seen people say so far. So those are a few of the ones I’m looking at right now. Any feedback would be cool. Also, I have listed below all the shooters I already own and others I plan to get. Shooters I Have: XBOX: Ghost Recon Kill Switch Halo Splinter Cell 007 Nightfire The Thing Hitman 2 Time Splitters 2 Unreal Championship Max Payne Indiana Jones: Emperor’s Tomb Return To Castle Wolfenstein Enter The Matrix Brute Force Conflict: Desert Storm PS2: GTA3 GTA Vice City SOCOM Navy Seals Medal of Honor Frontline The Getaway Metal Gear Solid 2 Time Splitters Unreal Tournament Gamecube: Metroid Prime Resident Evil Zero Sum Of All Fears PC: Max Payne 2 NOLF2 Call Of Duty TRON 2.0 Mafia RTCW Tides of War Medal Of Honor Allied Assault / Spearhead Battlefield 1942 / Road To Rome Soldier of Fortune 2 Vietcong Rainbow Six 3 Iron Storm Redneck Rampage Tomb Raider III Shooters to get: Halo 2 MOH Rising Sun Far Cry SOCOM 2 DOOM 3 Half Life 2 S.W.A.T. Global Strike Team DX: Invisible War Metal Gear Solid 3 Hitman 3
  3. Man, I can't WAIT for Far Cry. I saw that game at E3 and it was one of the top of my list for PC games. Another one I really want to get for PC is Dead To Rights. Has anyone played that on Xbox already? Judging from the site (http://www.deadtorights.com) and the screens, it seems like it'svery similar to Max Payne;
  4. Would you say it’s your best shooter or do you have others that you think are better? List all of your console shooters from your favorite to least favorite and any shooters that you’re planning to get later. I consider myself to be a pretty hardcore shooting game fan, so I’m interested to see how Ghost Recon (1 or 2) ranks for other 1st and 3rd person shooting gamers.
  5. Oh yes ~ I can't believe I don't already have Far Cry on my list of shooters to get. It was one of the coolest things I saw at E3 (aside from the curvaceous showgirls at some of the booths). So here's my revised list of 'must-get' shooters: Kill Switch Halo 2 Deus Ex 2 Half Life 2 S.W.A.T. Global Strike Team DX: Invisible War Metal Gear Solid 3 Max Payne 2 Far Cry Hitman 3
  6. I concuor EXCEPT on HALO its the best FPS that I EVER played to date! I agree; Halo is incredible. The multiplayer is the best I've ever seen. What other shooters do you guys play? Here's my list; Shooters I Have: XBOX: Ghost Recon (both) Halo Splinter Cell 007 Nightfire The Thing Hitman 2 Time Splitters 2 Unreal Championship Max Payne Indiana Jones: Emperor’s Tomb Return To Castle Wolfenstein Enter The Matrix Brute Force Dead To Rights Conflict: Desert Storm PS2: GTA3 GTA Vice City SOCOM Navy Seals Medal of Honor Frontline The Getaway Metal Gear Solid 2 Time Splitters Unreal Tournament Gamecube: Metroid Prime Resident Evil Zero Sum Of All Fears PC: Mafia RTCW Tides of War Medal Of Honor Allied Assault / Spearhead Battlefield 1942 / Road To Rome Soldier of Fortune 2 Vietcong Rainbow Six 3 Iron Storm Redneck Rampage Tomb Raider III Shooters to get: Kill Switch Halo 2 Deus Ex 2 Half Life 2 S.W.A.T. Global Strike Team DX: Invisible War Metal Gear Solid 3 Max Payne 2 Hitman 3
  7. Yeah, I can't argue with Half-Life or Doom. I can hardly stand the wait for HL2 and Doom 3. That also goes for Halo 2, which improved the genre leaps and bounds as far as I'm concerned. You can also add Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, Battlefield 1942 and the Grand Theft Auto series to my list of most innovative shooters. I don't know how "innovative" RTCW would be considered, but I simply have so much fun with that game that I have to add it just for sentimental purposes. I suppose the maps are so well-done that you could say it has raised the bar for level design. As for future titles, there are many sequels to look forward to, but the one new title that has me most intrigued is Kill Switch (http://www.killswitch.com/). For a console shooter, it looks remarkably well-done. The A.I. is supposedley going to be superior to the usual level and it's going to incorporate a predominant use of blind cover-fire tactics that other shooters don't. Not to mention the fact that it looks so damn cool;
  8. Which shooting games do you think have raised the bar and why do you pick them specifically? Are there any future shooters coming out that you think will raise the bar even higher?
  9. ?? I can see that being true for a 'sound' game, like MOH frontline (durning the beach scene), but Splinter Cell is more about how realistic-looking it is - I'd be more interested than seeing it on some 57" flatscreen TV with optimum color for those great lighting graphics, than to worry so much about sound. Don't get me wrong ~ I play it in surround sound through my system too, 'cuz sound is important to me, but do you see my point? I guess you're not going to answer that. Not that it's important... I'm sure we both agree that the game looks and sounds spectacular. Sadly, they didn't pick the best screens to show off just how spectacular it really is (http://www.splintercell.com/us/ - they should have included more outdoor shots; those were the best shots in the game.)

  11. I have Ghost Recon, and I think it's fairly realistic. It's fantastic if you love sniping enemies. I'd say of the Tom Clancy games that Splinter Cell has to be the most impressive overall. The lighting effects in that game are so beyond what I've seen anywhere else. The thermal and night vision are unprecedented too. Have you played it?
  12. … and by realistic, I’m talking about the story, graphics, dialogue, sounds, situations, etc.
