  1. I prefer the lighting used in the Demo (dusk/Dawn) over the lighting we saw in the beta images. The images from teh beta were too bright.

My guess is that it doesn't matter what we like, becuase i suspect people will soon figure out how to apply any lighting to any map once the game is released and we will see many different lighting variations and we can pick the ones we like.

  2. Yep. And it has been well documented somehwere (usng a pciture well desinged to show the limitation) that not only do wide screen users end up with the same angular field of view that other players get (that is probably fair , even though the FOV is too small) they also end up with a FOV penalty in the vertical plane. In other words, Wide screen users see LESS than regular users from top to bottom.

So not only does the game give you too little left to right field of view, wide scree users get less vertical (top to bottom) feild of view than do regular monitor users.

hopefully, Grin will fix this somehow.

the problem is tha in order to ive everyone the same horizontal field of view, widescreensoffer less top to bottom. As a wide screen user, i wish i could get greater horizontal field of view. but this may be considered a cheat realtive to other players.

  3. Don't know if it's a bug or not, but there's no sticky peeking when in crouched position. Meaning...I can stand up, peek, and tap tap tap the D button and it will still stay peeked. Can't do this in crouch position. Hopefully this is a bug because one of the tactics we use involves this.

Yep. noticed this too. It works fine in GRAW1. but its broken in GRAW2. Its an important feature for the use of sticky peek. Otherwise, it defeats the point.

  4. Last night playing some RvsA on UK graw2 demo servers. This round i was playing defend and was on the .50 mounted gun located next to ADAT:b i made two kills shooting red tags far across the map. The kill notification was showing me i made two weapon kills.

Defend means you were mexican. Are you saying as a mexican soldier, you saw red diamonds? is this the nature of the bug you are trying ot report?

On RvsA i was playing assault the second the round started i pushed w+shift to move and there is no first person weapon visible just empty hands. Then when you stop running the weapon becomes visible again.

This is not a bug. This is how it is supposed to be. when you walk slowly forward (W only), you hold your gun up and see it. when you run (W+Shift), you put your gun down and run. As soon as you stop or slow to a walk, you can re lift your gun. This makes "running and gunning" (considered very unrealistic) impossible.

  5. Holy #$%^ is right.!!! I concur.

    @WarCloud.

    What are your system specs???

    AND

What Resolution are you playing at???

    AND

Are you overclocking? if so to what????

I see from Fraps you are getting between 90 and 125 FPS! Holy #$$%^ again!

I have a 8800GTS and e6600 on a 680i mobo and 2gigs of PC-8500 corsair dominator ram and im only getting about 75 frames max!

    Do tell Warcloud.......

Or is that the PhysX card relieving your CPU of physics duty, thus giving greater frames to a "lesser" machine?

  6. And the Key to meaningful and useful communication in such a fast paced environment is the use of very specific information such as COMPASS HEADING. but unfortuntely, those of us with Hi-res, wide screen monitors (mine is 1680 x 1050) find the compass IMPOSSIBLE TO READ. The N,E,S and W heading letters are so SMALL and INDISTINGUISHABLE, they are USELESS.

I know I said this in a previous thread as well, but this point deserves to be highlighted. Becuase without the tools needed for proper communication, I was unable to organize qiuckly with my buds last night. We are all accustomed to giving compass headings in our calls and I was left out in the dark along with others. And when Coop campaign finally arrives, this simple-to-repair "bug" will be a real bummer if it is not addressed.

That's why map grids and land mark references are also useful in this situation.

Yes. there are other ways to communicate in GRAW. but they are far less specific. compass headings are the Gold Standard. Period. And these other "options' do not make my point any less meaningful. Compass headings are VITAL.

When in coop, a standard radio comms is ...

"Move West to this point (See ground marker) and keep your eyes north"

    or

"Cover North while I advance across this road".

In coop (and any game mode really), general locations and "map grids" are simply useless when you are moving together as a slow and tight team. After all, you might make 4 or 5 small bounding moves in a single map grid. COMPASS HEADINGS are irreplaceable by these lesser options. when you need them, nothing else will do.

Why do we have to have a red dot appear when you shoot an enemy, it kinda puts me off and will we be able to deselect this option in the real deal game, plz dont say its standard throughout all the modes.

Agreed. IMHO, it is a huge mistake to force this on the server. this should be a server side option to be turned on or off. The blood splatter is far more sublte and satisfying for the shooter to indicate "hit feedback'. The red/orange Blob just kills immersion and can even block your view a bit. I wish I could turn it off.

  8. Compas "bug"

The compass fulfills no function as the letters indicating N, S, W, E are too small to be readable (at least in my resolution) 1680 x 1050.

And yea naturally you should be able to Alt-Tab out of a full screen game without getting double cursors (It happened to me too and I've got Windows XP) :nono:

Same resolution issue here. I have 1680 x 1050 and the compass is virtually USELESS. I cannot read the headings. And reading the headings is VITAL for Coop and Adversarial play as teamates often make calls based on heading!!!.

Although this may seem a small issue, it is actually HUGE and I hope it is fixed in apatch SOON!!!! Hopefully before the full game is released.

  9. During the half hour I played I only noted one thing I disklike. The red blob that appears when you hit an enemy.

Please make the red blob a serer side controlled on/off feature. I loved how in GRAW1, you saw a small amount of blood splatter when you got a hit. A much more subtle and satisfying hit indicator over the red Blob.

  10. modes

    campaigncoop

    cooperative (12+ player)

    deathmatch

    teamdeathmatch

    hamburgerhill

    siege

    avr

That would be the correct list as you've found it inside the Beta i believe. :)

The old "[GR] Coop" has evolved from what it was in GRAW1 and as it's far from the same game mode it has also changed name to simply "Coop".

Thanks for the info Wolf. Hopefully, it has evolved to include more server side controls and more non-linear objectives. Hopefully server-side controls include the ability to break out into squads (like before) nad then have access to squad based orders like in campaign coop (not like before).

    do tell....

  11. Well, at least it looks like distant objects look better than they did in the beta SS's.

Wow Cangaroo. You have a good memory.

Exactly what are you looking at that indicates to you that distant views are better? Are you assuming from what you see here that distance views have been extended?

  12. I have come to the point with this network where I dont believe a thing they say.

Bassically because of the comments above and the fact they cant get there facts right about Graw1 and what it could or could not do.

A lack of or a late in appearing graphics objects is not why I am buying the game, its game and tactics, and every one knows the 2 rigs are furthest from each other in this department. So why compare in the first place, pathetic.

Its one of the worst previews I have read in relation to how it is written and its factual content.

Which leads to a very interesting idea.

Wouldn't it be interesting if a web site that we trusted always spent a couple of weeks reading the main forums before doing a preview?? And developing ideas on what to look for in the preview by listening to what people wanted. Maybe even join the forum (in cognito if need be) and then interact with the players prior to writing in order to get a flavor of the desires and dissappointments of the past to help guide ones eyes and thoughts while performing the preview. Then one could even quote the web site the previewer got questions and ideas from without directly using the posters name (to stay clear of legal issues) but at least the readers would then know where he got his ideas from and it would show background work and "due Dilligence" prior to just picking up the game and writing some perspectiveless preview.

And maybe unicorns will fly and their horn will be made of sugar candy.

  13. Well, back OT this quote from worthplaying.com has to make Papa one happy gamer:

The PC also has better draw distances; far-off objects that appeared blurry on the 360 version can be seen clearly on the PC.

I'm not sure that this comment addresses Papa's concerns. What if it reads....

Far off objects that appeared blurry on the 360 version can be seen clearly on the PC until they reach the clipping distance and then disappear .... clearly.

  14. When the demo comes out could the beta testers please point out what bugs still havent been fixed from the beta to the demo (if any).

TEchnically, I don't think we can do that without vilating our NDA. But from a practical matter, I think we can simply state what bugs we see in the Demo just like anyone else can. To comment that thye still didnt fix something, or something that worked before is now broekn, might be a violation however.

  15. Aside from design decisions and limited resources inhenrent in console hardware (previous gen) the controller has been the biggest thing holding back the console for many people. I personally chose NOT to play FPS's on a console primarily because I don't like the control scheme for them. (Also the design on most of them from the previous gen left much to be desired as well).

If this takes off for the PS3 then hopefully they will pull it over to the Xbox and maybe then with the current capabilities, we can start to see more dynamic and interesting designed FPS games that actually can play more like a PC game. If that happens I might consider playing more console FPS's.

Speaking of Wii (sorry for the OT). I've begun to get bored with mine. I there are actually very few titles that take advantage of the controller besides the relatively small # of first party Nintendo titles. The other 3rd party controllers just seem to slap some kind of motion to replace a button from another platform rather than make it really feel genuine and at home on the Wii. Otherwise, it's no different from an Xbox/PS3 game with poor graphics. At this point, I am mainly using it for playing gamecube games that I can buy super cheap. It's kind of sad really. I sincerely hope to see some intersting titles that really take some advantage of the control scheme rather than ports that weakly attempt to use it.

On the PS3 issue, I'm glad you see the potential here. I was concerend after re reading my first post, I would get a reply like "GRAW2 Console version sux" or some such thing. My post wasnt really about GRAW2 PC so much as it was about the movement toward Mouse and KB that Sony is now openely sanctioning. The MS bunch has openly stated they will not allow mouse and KB as a controller and this has lead, possibly, to Sony deciding to seperate themselves from the XBOX further by allowing it. In fact, as I understand it, they provided the specs to Splitfish to ensure that the design was fully compatible. This is very good news indeed. it means that as we enter the next year of PS3 development, and once the user base starts getting into the double-digit millions as expected, the tac-sim developers might actually try to start developing realistic tac-sims for the PS3.

On the note of XBOX 360, even though it is not formally sanctioned by MS, a company has built a system that allows KB and mouse on the XBOX360 in direct defiance of MS and it emulates the controller (tricks the 360 into thinking a controller is atached. Here is that link....

So slowly and quietly, this whole "We wanna FPS like on our PC" thing is starting to open up. I think certain devs like Blackfoot studios and GRiN will (Should?) look very closely at these possabilities so that they can stay in the Genre they love while grabbing tons more sales becuase they can now give the players a mouse.

  16. I have never owned a console until this christmas. I was gifted both a Wii and a PS3.

    The Wii is fun.

The PS3 looks amazing on my 1080P TV, but lets face it PC lovers (of which I am one). Those games and their darn controller just don't cut it for us hardened "PC Only" types.....

Then I did a little research and learned 2 things.

The PS3 version of GRAW2 will include a feature that allows you to switch from Third to First person just like the XBOX360 version has . Hmm. OK. So what? I still have to hold that darn controller thigamajig and every one knows you cant aim for dung with that thing.

    Then I saw this.

Hmmm. I'm not there yet, but I'm starting to listen. A little.

  17. Hmm... now will he be able to create free mods for a game he is helping to develop?

He can probably do anything he wants so long as he does it with his own assets and on his own time (not on company time while on company computers). The real question is would he want to anymore? after all, who works all day for something then goes home and does the same thing as a hobby?
