No need to apologize snuffy.
I have come to the same conclusion.
But my gut tells me they are working on it as we speak (or they ahve already fixed it and its in teh first patch)
But that is just my gut. I have no inside info. I'm just going off their actions of last summer, showing pretty strong concern with people's issues on GRAW1.

grin should put in something like if u shoot someone thats at their spawn that has just spawnd it kills the shooter automatically and gives the guy that he shot at equivilent to 1 kill or in RVSA 4 VP kill but still spawn rapers are VERY annoying
You mean that if I kill someone who has just spawned then I die too?
Actually, I think his idea had 2 parts to the test.
#1. You kill someone who just spawned.
#2. The game detects that you did this from WITHIN their spawn.
Then you die.
On first Blush, sounds like an interesting server side feature to allow admins as a choice.....

I have always stated that I trust GRiN to support their products (they truly impressed me with their series of summer patches on GRAW1) and I believe they have exhibited exemplary integrity in their ongoing communications with us.
So I feel somewhat bad about saying what I am about to say. Becuase it represents an unexpected change in my position from previous posts...
However,
I will not purchase GRAW2 PC unless the widescreen/FOV issue is resolved to some level of satisfaction.
I can longer play the demo due to the zoomed in feel and limited field of view. I can no longer tolerate the demo and I am am certain I could not play the new game with out this change.
But I have faith in GRiN. My gut tells me that they know this issue has risen to the top of the pile for people. there are other issues I hope to see fixed as well, but this one is a deal breaker for me.
The good news is that I would bet large dollars that they will fix this.

LOL, believe it or not we Europeans think you Americans have the life of reilly (easy) ............
You think right.

Is that a gun in his pants or is he just happy to finally get the demo?

If grin supply details or a converter program you might have a chance.

The Alt+Tab Double-Curser is a 50/50 thing for me. Sometimes there's a curser and sometimes not.
-
That Orange hit BLOB has to GO! its aweful. what an aweful idea. The blood splatter thing they did in GRAW1 was subtle and excellent.
The inability to crouch while moving forward (you have to hit the button 10 times) has ot be fixed.
Sticky peek while in crouch needs to hold if you move sideways slwoly in crouch. That has to be fixed.
Widescreen issue and FOV. A must fix.
I love piling on the repetitiveness. It can not be repeated enough.
Remember GRiN. We whine becuase we love teh freakin game. If we didnt care, we would all be on the other forums.

Also, Ichabod has already said they're looking at this problem, so I don't know that we do need any bumps. We spoke. They responded. They're looking at this issue. I'm grateful, and that's enough for me for the time being.

I concurr.
90% of the battle is just knowing that they have acknowledged. Beyond that, there is nothing left to do but hope they can find a solution and the resources to provide it.

GRAW had one night map...with lights that could be shot out, dark shadows, and moonlit streets....it was a tactical haven...you could hide in the darker shadows even if such position had no cover, you could shoot out likes to crate other hiding places, and you had to hold your breath crossing the street. It was a TOTALLY new game and paly style...
My comment is to the underlined section of your post:
When you shot out a light in a GRAW1 map the light only goes out for you, all other players see the light as "ON" so you end up under the spot. This was known but some might not be aware of it.
GRAW2 might be the same.. unless a Grin knows otherwise.viiiper.
I did not know this about lightsin GRAW1. Good pickup.
They had other multi-player desynchronization bugs as well in GRAW 1. for example, in certain missions if you GL'd one of those transport trucks full of soldiers (in a coop mission), the truck would roll to a further location on one player's machine that on another player's machine. So a guy would move forward to hide behind the rear wheel of the truck (for example). but to other players, he appeared to simply be crouching out in the middle of the street with no cover, with the truck 30 feet away from him.

hi
would like to see the direction markings on the compass enlarged. When our clan plays together, a lot of our communication over teamspeak involves the use of the compass.Such things as "lets head North" or "2 enemy spotted Southwest of you".....the compass markings are almost non-legible,making things rather annoying.Even if just the main ones,N,S,E,W were a bit bigger it would make it alot easier.
Absolutely. this is a very big deal. Hopefully, this will be addressed so that each resolution can have a large, easily readable compass.
Anyone know the reason for not staying peeked when in a crouch position and tapping left/right? You can do it while standing up, but not crouched? Why the change?
This was noted earlier. It is a huge hurt of they intended this. and a big QA miss if they did not intend this. Hopefully, they will fix this. Or a critical tactical manuever will be missing from GRAW 2 that was excellent in GRAW 1.

Yep Evil. You have discovered my favorite mode of play. Small numbers. High suspense. Sneak and peek. This has been true for me for years. Although I play on all sorts of servers, games that allow great positional sound can be very fun when you have very few players. I used to play Novalogic's "Black hawk down' for years. But always looked for servers with small numbers so i could sneak around. The suspense factor of this setup is what makes small games so intense.
Are you hunting? Or are you the hunted?

NDA policies aren't uncommon in the gaming industry.
No. They are not.
I don't work for Grin, by the way. I am just stating the obvious.
Yes. You are.

Otherwise, Grin would have the liberty to tell us everything about the game without question.
That is not necessarily the reason. This is why the post was directed to GRiN. So they could speak for themselves (if they so chose). Please note the post subject begins with "@GRiN".

-
NDA policy restricts them from unveiling anything without Ubi's permission. And the widescreen and FOV issue was already explained and Grin is aware of it.
How do you know this answer is accurate Intellifactor? Do you work for GRiN? Did they tell you this? Or are you simply making an educated guess?
My post was to GRiN and really not placed here for guesses. I can guess as well as anyone. I am still hoping to here it from them, if they can say.

We are looking into this issue, that's all I can say at the moment.
Thank you ichabod. At least letting us know that you know and are looking at it relives a lot of concern on everyones part.
I would like to suggest that you simply give wide screen users greater fields of view. Since no solution is a perfect one (assuming ratios are maintianed), the best solution is to give better and better FOVs to wider and wider screens and simply let some players have better expereinces (FOVs) than others. otherwise, you stand to alienate those of us who are getting penalized for having widescreen monitors.

#####WARNING #####
This post does **NOT** constitute a complaint or represent anger toward GRiN. So for those of you who wish to express such feelings, please do not do so in this post. This post is not a jumping off point for negativism.
We have no right to know certain things and I am not complaining. Rather, I am trying to frame a question in such a way as to get an answer as to why...
------THE QUESTION ------
If you guys at GRiN cannot (or will not) comment on certain things like the wide screen issue or the FOV issue (2 related issues) or the randomness of AI, can you at least help some of us understand the nature of your silence?
I firmly believe that we have no right to know things that you do not wish for us to know. These are business decisions and they belong entirely to you and your publisher. But if you could tell us why you guys remain so silent on certain issues (nopmatter which issue .... no particular issue need be referenced) , then I think it would go along way to helping many here accept the fact that GRiN simply doesn't (or can't) respond to certain issues while it does (and can) to others.
Any thing you guys @ GRiN can teach us about the rationale behind silence vs input would be appreciated and may actually help many of us accept the silence when we get it.

Current bugs i've seen ( I will make a list later)
1)Non dedicated server pings go through the roof once over 8 players. I've seen many non UBI servers at over 1000 ping.
Roco.
I saw that one too. then I entered the server (ping was listed at 1900 or so), and when i got in, the individual pings were perfectly normal and the game played just fine. When i left, i looked again and the ping was showing as some astronomical number again.
My conclusion is that the pings were normal. It was the calculation and reporting of the ping that was wrong. But once in the game, the indivual pings are showing correctly and it has no effect on the actual game.

I recall some talk earlier in the year on adding additional randomization of enemy patrols and guards etc in GRAW2. But I never recall hearing whether this was just a thing map makers could do, or if this would be the very nature of the single player campaign which GRiN puts out.
So how about it GRiN?
Will the SP Campaign (and this campaign coop) have enemy locations we can memorize just like GRAW1 or will we find a more unpredictable and random location to them?
-
Considering how active they have been on forums since the release of the demo, and considering the fact that they ahve not said one peep on the subject, that should tell us something.....
They feel this issue is an issue they will not comment on at this time.
Why? I have no idea.
-
ooo good find. How about there ability to see through trees now?
I asked that question rpeatedly over the last few weeks leading up to the demo. I even hav ea top level post about it. No reply so far from GRiN. We will know soon enough.
-
I'm some where in the middle. GRAW always makes me feel like I am looking through too small of a FOV and it can annoy me from time to time. but then the game play takes over and immerses me.
In the end, however, the poor FOV and the Widescreen issue is a bummer.
I just have a hard time calling GRiN "Bush league". I guess I can stomach the idea that this one solution represented cutting corners though.

He had no gun, it was right after we spawned.
Is it a bug? He was kicked a few minutes later because of altered game files so maybe he cheated.
Seeing a guy with "No Gun" in GRAW one almost always meant that the guy had a modded gun (like brettzies mod) and you did not have the smae mod, so you could not see it. In GRAW games (like coop [GR] at GamerPlanet) there is no anticheat so people could use the mods they wanted. and what monkey would wanna cheat in [GR] coop anyway? So no gun usually means Gun mod.
Likely he got kicked becuase he had a gun mod and anticheat was turned on.

As one can see, playing with a widescreen actually penalizes you. They've simply chopped off the top and bottom of the screen so it will fit a widescreen. Shame on you GRIN, that's very mickey mouse.
hmmm? Mickey Mouse? Well. I'm not sure until GRiN tells us why they did this. I can certainly see why you would call it mickey mouse (took a shortcut to avoid spending time i assume you mean), but on the other hand, how do you giv eall players the same horizontal FOV when so many different monitors exist? What is the prper solution? If I can see many more horizontal degrees than yo becuase i have a wide screen abd you do not, is this an unfair advantage for me?
In other words, was this really mickey mouse? or did GRiN simply feel that everyone needed to have teh same left to right FOV no matter what since that particular FOV is (presumably) more important than vertical and would give aplayer a greater advantage if not nuetralized?
Its a tough one. You only need to own toa new 1080P HD TV to see what I mean. They have all these wierd viewgin modes for people trying to watch old regular TV on the widescreen HD and none of them are really great solution. they stretch across the image. they stretch at the edges etc etc etc. And all of them look a bit woerd when they try to fit a 4:# image onto a 16:10 screen
Question: Will GRAW2 come bundled with a PhysX card?

Wasn't saying it was a big deal. was just showing the best price i had found on a bundle. Thats all.
