Pleare, STOP CALLING ME SIR ! ! LOLOL
I work for a living, and sirs tend to bring to much management BS to the table!!
The apology was necessary, not for my views, I stand by them 100%, but because the way I addressed you was wrong. I read it again, and I shouldnt have presented it that way. For that, I am sorry.
The debates are great, and so is the passion they elicit. It helps us to get to know people.
But we dont need to get insulting. Insulting countries' politics or personal politics is one thing. But we dont need to insult each other.
-
I just want to apologize if I offended anyone's sensibilities here. I meant no offense to anyone.
But I'm just getting tired of everyone bashing the US for this, and saying how they think the US instigated this whole thing, when it is not true. This is a world problem, that the entire world let get out of hand.
We are just the ones, along with the rest of the coalition, who stood up to take some responsibility for it's resolution.
WeeBoz, I'm sorry I used your age. I was wrong about that, and I apologize.
But, contrary to popular belief, us Americans dont live in a little box, and TV is also not the best history teacher when coming from the news media. We are also not war mongers, and contrary to popular belief, we dont want the war anymore than anyone else does, but sometimes someone has to stand up and do the right thing, whether everyone thinks its right or wrong.
And, I do think that just about everyone here agrees that something had to be done about this whacko.
Now, the way I see it, the US is one of about 3 countries that could maybe accomplish this. 2 of those countries are over there now, stepping up to handle it. The third one bowed out.
As for killing tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis, I think in this case maybe you should turn on the TV. We arent doing that. As a matter of fact, almost all the casualties, have been hardline Iraqi military.
As for the topic of this thread becoming to full of rhetoric, that is true, and I also agree that it is getting way out of hand.
It doesnt matter who's fault the war is anymore, its happening, we are all in it, and its going to be resolved one way or the other, whether we like it or not.
Everyone here, me included, needs to calm down. When we start bashing each other, instead of what we think of politics, maybe it is time to lock up the thread.
I do apologize to anyone that thinks I insulted them personally. If you think this, it was not intentional, and I have a very high regard for everyone here.

###### lawyers.....what a joke!

Parabellum, calm down, Weeboz is just an uninformed kid. He was exactly 12 when we were in Iraq the first time, and google search engine is not the best history teacher.
Actually, probably the biggest reason this wasnt finished in 91 is because Bush Sr. was under tremendous pressure from the Arab part of the coalition, as well as the French and the UN to pull out and not kill that sorry ###### then.
Weeboz is entitled to his say, however uninformed it may be.
300mag and I were both around and remember quite vividly exactly what happened then.
Now, Weeboz you're from the United Kingdom, correct? Now correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that you guys over there are just as dedicated to this cause as we are, else you wouldnt be there.
Now, like I said in an earlier post with budgie, and he and I have already discussed this, why are you attacking Bush? You dont have to like him. Hell, half of America doesnt like him, so he is a convenient scapegoat for blaming the war on. But what you dont seem to know is, he doesnt have the power to start the war on his own. It had to go through the house and the senate.
Around 600 people I believe. He cant just get up in the morning and say, "gee, I want to go to war today".
It doesnt work like that except in extreme emergency.
Now, debates here are supposed to be fun. We really dont need to get insulting, and we certainly dont need to be telling people to "Shut the Hell up".
Part of being free is to be able to debate and argue, and say what you think.
As for the contracts, do you really think your country would be in this, if they couldnt recoup anything?
And why cant people see the danger that Sadaam poses to all of the world? Its as plain as the nose on your face, and we have been watching him get more dangerous every day for 12 years.
Yes, Bush may be an idiot, but the president of the US doesnt have the power that you guys think he does. This war spent months in the senate and congress before it was approved, and I might add that your government approved it also. You guys are standing with us over there.
And the only way we can change presidents if it ever came to that, would be if he were impeached, or something happened to him. And not being well liked is not a crime punishable by impeachment.
Now, just so everyone knows, I'm not standing up for Bush. I didnt even vote for him, I voted for a different idiot. They are all idiots as far as I'm concerned.
But before you all start blaming this on one man, you need to learn how the govt works.
I dont like Bush, but I happen to believe very strongly in what we are doing, and why we are doing it. However, I'm extremely ###### that our men and women had to go back over there when this could have been resolved once and for all 12 years ago, had Bush Sr. and the current govt at that time had the cajones to stand up to world opinion, and finish the job, instead of pulling out 15 miles away from Baghdad.
If you dont agree with the war, I say to you what I say to everyone else. Come up with a viable alternate solution you know will work, and get the French to stop buying his oil and selling him weapons when there is supposed to be an embargo on for the last 12 years. We all see where that went and how well that worked out.

France is Not a Western Country Anymore
By Guy Milliere
FrontPageMagazine.com
March 31, 2003
French-bashing is everywhere in the American media. I am French, and I must say if Americans knew completely what's happening in France, the French-bashing would be far harsher.
Jacques Chirac has been a friend of Saddam Hussein for more than thirty years. He allowed the sale of nuclear facilities to Iraq that were destroyed just in time by Israel. He sold Iraq the planes that were been used to gas thousands of Kurds. And Saddam is not the only friend Chirac has. Chirac has never met a ruthless dictator he did not like. Worse, Chirac is unprincipled and greedy. It is common knowledge in France that he stole a lot of money when he was the mayor of Paris, and everyone knows that if he had not been re-elected in May 2002, he would be in jail now. To hear him speaking about morality or international law nauseates every decent Frenchman.
And Chirac is not the only politician of this stripe in France. These days, it is becoming hard to find a French politician ready to speak about human rights, freedom or democracy. All of them seem to have the same speechwriter or to belong to the same totalitarian political party; all of them are anti-American, anti-Israeli and "pacifists." They regard Western civilization as something filthy and abhorrent.
If you read the newspapers, it's the same. At times it seems the only difference between the Soviet Union twenty years ago and France today is that in Soviet Union you had only one Pravda, and in France you now have at least ten such propaganda outlets: Different titles, same content. Their party line is clear in reporting on the personalities found in the present Middle Eastern crisis. Saddam Hussein, the "President of Iraq"? Well, maybe he has been brutal, but you know, in "those" countries... George W. Bush? He's a "######" -- a former alcoholic, who has become a crazy fanatic, in fact the most dangerous man on the face of earth. Ariel Sharon? A fascist who loves to kill Arabs. Arafat? A great freedom fighter. When an American general speaks, it is merely propaganda, but when Tariq Aziz pontificates, it is pure truth. Almost everyday you hear anti-Semitic remarks, to boot.
The anti-Semitism has created a threat to the physical safety for French Jews. Almost every week, some Jews get mugged, simply for being Jews. Almost nobody pays attention to it. When an anti-Semitic act is so disgusting it is impossible to hide it, journalists will speak of "confrontation between communities." When confronted with the reality that these "confrontations" are always Muslims attacking Jews, the editorial response: "Just because there has yet to be a single documented case of a Jew attacking a Muslim yet doesn't mean it will never happen. . . ."
And Jews are not the only victims of France's new identification with radical Islam. In many French cities with a growing radical Islamist population, no teenage girl can go out in the evening, at least not without a full burqa. If she does, it will mean that "she is for everybody": in short, a whore. In the same cities, every teenage girl -- regardless of religion -- has to wear the Muslim veil if she does not want to be harassed or killed. Almost every month, a young woman is mugged and raped in a suburb of a big city. Gang rape has become so frequent that a new word, used by the rapists themselves to define their hideous actions, is used by everybody: tournantes (revolving). To the rapists, the woman is nothing, a mere object to be thrown away after use. The people who speak about "revolving" seem to forget a human being is involved as the victim. Policemen do nothing. Every decent person knows the problem is Islam, but no one dares to say it. It could be dangerous. The streets are not safe.
One year ago, a French Muslim decided to create a new business: he was tired of seeing people drinking Coca-Cola - all this money going to Americans! He found a factory and started to produce Mecca Cola. On the label, he put a picture of the Al Aqsa mosque, with a large part of his profits would help to support the Palestinian cause. In some suburbs of Paris, Coca-Cola has disappeared; Mecca Cola has replaced it. A few days ago, another Muslim businessman announced he will start to sell Muslim-Up. It will have the taste of Sprite or Seven-Up, but it will be a Muslim drink -- and naturally the profits will go to the Palestinian jihad, as well.
Three radio stations in France are Muslim radio stations, and if you listen to them, dedicated to broadcasting the voice of hate and racism all day long. One radio station belongs to a friend of the rightist Jean-Marie Le Pen, and curiously, if you listen to it, you will hear the same voice of hate and racism. Rightists and radical Muslims have discovered they have many things in common.
If you want to understand why all this is happening, you have to understand one thing: thirty years ago, French governments started to have a new foreign policy. They called this new policy, "Arabian Policy. "France became closer to Arab countries -- all of them disgusting dictatorships. France "benefited" by doing business easily in these countries. In exchange, France had to push Europe to unknot its ties with Israel and the United States. In exchange too, "professors" came from the Arabian dictatorships to teach the Arabic language to the young Arabs living in France. The only book they used to teach the Arabic language was THE book, Al Koran.
Now comes the time to pay the check: six million Muslims live in France, at least ten per cent of them are radical Islamists poised on the edge of violence. And these radical Muslims have allies on both the extreme Left and the extreme Right. France is not a Western country anymore, it is now the leader of the Arab/Muslim world. Israel has to know France is its main enemy. The United States has to understand they have nothing to expect from today's France except nastiness, treason, and cheating.

I have been thinking of a few little tricks I'd like to teach that sadistic ######. THere are a couple of things I'd like to try on that violent thug.

A long time ago, Britain and France were at war. During one battle,
the French captured an English Major. Taking the Major to their
headquarters, the French General began to question him.
The French General asked, "Why do you English officers all wear red
coats? Don't you know the red material makes you easier targets
for us to shoot?"
In his concise English way, the Major informed the General that the
reason English officers wear red coats was in case they were shot,
the blood wouldn’t show and the men they were leading wouldn’t panic.
And that is why, from that day to present, all French Army officers wear brown pants.
-
Look, Budgie.
I wasnt attacking you personally, I was attacking your arguments. I just keep hearing the same anti war rhetoric over and over, but no one can come up with a better solution, and let's face it, this mess needs cleaning up and it needs cleaning up damn fast. It's long overdue.
I dont want anyone to get out of the kitchen, I enjoy the debates. Thats what the forum is all about, and its supposed to be fun.
But, what I would like to see is the anti war protesters get informed, really informed.
I am by no means pro war, BUT, it happens to be the last resort for cleaning up this mess, and there is no one, besides the US, capable of taking on the job, except maybe France, but we wont even go there.
As for my stance on Bush, thats not personal either. I didnt even vote for him, but right is right. People are attacking him, using the war, because they dont like him. Thats all fine and good. I dont like him either. But he didnt do this on his own, not even close. But people forget that too, or they arent educated enough to know better.
Anyway, I'm sorry if I personally offended you. I wasnt attacking you, but your arguments, and the arguments of the others on this forum who are uninformed, or rather not informed enough.
I have nothing against you or the others. It's just a debate. I have been run under the bus by a few here for my ideas and thoughts. But that's alright. That's what makes the free world free, and thats what our boys and girls are fighting for over there.
Dont quit debating. Its one of the actual freedoms that we have.
I'll be disappointed if you do. I know that might not matter much, I'm only one man, but thats my thoughts on the situation.

The probing of the airport is over. According to CNN, we have taken the Airport.
I dont think he's dead. He's hiding. I wont believe he's dead until they display his dead carcass on CNN with DNA proof and dental records.

STAND TALL, STAND PROUD, SHOULDER TO SHOULDER..... AND MOST OF ALL COME HOME SAFE.
Subject: FW: Phoning home
CNN live interview with Martin Savidge on Sunday, 30 March 2003:
Martin Savidge of CNN, embedded with the 1st Marine battalion, 1st Marine
Division, was talking with 4 young Marines near his foxhole this morning
live on CNN. He had been telling the story of how well the Marines had been
looking out for and taking care of him since the war started. He went on to
tell about the many hardships the Marines had endured since the war began
and how they all look after one another.
He turned to the four and said he had cleared it with their commanders
and they could use his video phone to call home. None of these Marines had
been able to talk with their families for many weeks. The 19 year old
Marine next to him asked Martin if he would allow his platoon sergeant to
use his call to call his pregnant wife back home whom he had not been able
to talk to in over a month. A stunned Savidge, who was visibly moved by the
request, nodded his head - yes. The young Marine ran off to get the
sergeant.
Savidge recovered after a few seconds and turned back to the three young
Marines still sitting with him. He asked which one of them would like to
call home first? The Marine closest to him responded with out a moments
hesitation, "Sir, if is all the same to you we would like to call the
parents of a buddy of ours. Lance Cpl Brian Buesing of Cedar Key, Florida,
who was killed on the 23rd of March near Nasiriya. We would like to see how
his folks are doing and let them know their son died bravely."
At that Martin Savidge totally broke down and was unable to speak. All he
could get out before signing off was, "Where do they get young men like
this?"
I have no words for this. This is what the human spirit is all about...this is what we fight for.

What if Saddam Hussein survived the bombing last week, but lost a leg . . .
How ###### off do you think his body doubles are?
-
Moakes, Swordfish,
I couldnt have said it better myself. I have posed some very reasonable questions to a couple of posters on the forum, and could not get reasonable answers to them when I rebutted their posts. The question was," To all of you against the war, come up with a viable alternative, and share it with the rest of us". No one could, even the people here protesting the most.
The UN, as far as I'm concerned, is about as useless as t--s on a boar hog. For 12 years they swept this mess under the rug and did nothing. Their stance has been like the French - do nothing, problem will go away, or dont look, problem too ugly to deal with.
As for corrupt governments, no one govt has the right to call any other corrupt. It's like the pot calling the kettle black. The French want to call the US corrupt - They have been buying oil and selling weapons to Iraq during embargo supported in the biggest part by the French and the UN. Who's corrupt here? I wonder.
People, and I wont use names here, we know who we are, whine about the US making a profit off of this when the war is over. Well, part of the reason we are in this war is because countries like France, have been selling the Iraqis weapons and making oil deals during the so called embargos that have supposedly been in place for 12 years, that the French, the UN and the US wanted.
France has been making deals and doing business with the Iraqis while the UN looked the other way and did nothing.
Now, it seems to me that everytime these people post against the war, they say something about Bush. Always about Bush.
Now my other question is, Is it the war you protest, or is it just that you all are mad that Bush happens to be the president leading it? Would all of you be protesting it if it was Al Gore or Bill Clinton running it?
Always, a reference to Bush seems to come up. Protesters bring up Bush, The French and Canadians Bring up Bush, and call him names in the media.
The UN subscribes to that whole "One World Government " thing. But they cant even clean up or help clean up, or support the clean up of a mess they helped create, or at the very least, failed to help resolve. The UN is just a figurehead, and I for one, am glad that Bush had the cajones to stand up to them and do the right thing, instead of the European/UN solution of another 20 years of sanctions that are only hurting the Iraqi civilians(they certainly didnt put a damper on his military machine after 12 years), and the worthless inspections, which have been turning up WDM's, but the UN did nothing to rid them except tell Sadaam to get rid of them, but he still has them. They found 4 more today. Long Range missiles at that. Sanctions and Inspections really did the job, eh? All the embargos did was keep food, medicine and aid from the Iraqi civilians while Sadistic Animal Sadaam took what little they had and gave to his military and built WDM's. But you'll never see that little truth publicized.
In actuality, all the Inspections and embargo did was buy Sadaam time to hide them.
I ask again, "after 12 years of so called peaceful solutions", that havent worked, and I'll bet the Iraqi people will tell you havent worked, at least they have been telling the media, What peaceful solution that is viable and will work, without a doubt, would you use, and after it didnt work, would you then support military action to safeguard the world? Even if Bush was leading it?
You all get on Bush, because he is the point man here, he's the president. But you all forget, he had to get approval from the house and from congress, all the folks you liked enough to elect. He could not do this on his own. But you all forget that too, because I dont hear or see any of them getting bad mouthed.
I'm not fond of Mr. Bush having the presidency either, I didnt vote for him, but he is the President, and anyone who has been to school knows he doesnt have a great deal of power by himself. But he is the president, and most of us arent supporting him, but the office of the President of the United States.
But, as most people forget, and it has been proven in alot of these posts, the president couldnt start this war without permission and approval from the entire government, and no one is bad mouthing anyone but Bush. Why is that?
All the protesters and nay sayers need to wake up and look at the whole picture, not just pieces of it.
There are those of us that remembrer Desert Storm and when all this started 12 years ago because we were there and have been watching Sadaam ever since. Most of the people protesting were an average of 5-7 years old then. What can they really know about it? Most of them are protesting just so they can say one day to their kids, "hey, I was a radical" or hey, I met your mom or dad at a march". That, and they are feeling a lack of attention. thats why they are so destructive. Destructive peaceniks....go figure.
All of you nay sayers and protesters dont remember that the only reason we had to go back this time was because in 1991 when we were ready to take Baghdad like we are now, The UN, and the French told us to stop and go no further because Kuwait was free, or they would pull their forces and their aid.
So we did listen and we stopped.
Well, we tried it the UN's way and look where that landed us. But no one brings that up either.
And Budgie, I thought you said you were an analyst of news and events. You posted that anyway.Well, just how far back did you analyze, and how much of the picture?
I think all the nay sayers and protesters had better take a good long look at ALL the facts, because currently, they arent operating on all of them. As for the French govt and all who support their politics, they have nothing to protest about, and have no right to any of the rebuilding, due to things I listed above, lest the new Iraq end up governed like France. In my humble opinion.
Well, it is my fervent hope that one day, the entire world will wake up and say, " What the hell are we doing? Why arent we all working together towards common needs and goals, like food, medicine, ecology, education, and science."
But until that day, as long as there are people like Sadaam torturing and killing his own people daily, and nations like Canada, France, and Germany as well as others that will sit idly by and do nothing, I'm proud as hell to be part of a country that has the right to elect their own president, and a country that has the balls to stand up and do whats right, no matter what world opinion is.
God Bless all of our soldiers.
Semper Fi, my friends.

Nib, know this...as long as I'm here, although I'm American too the core, I'll never forget what you guys have done, and I have the highest admiration for you guys.
The American media, or any media for that matter, very seldom presents a complete picture about anything, especially this war, as they dont want it and the media and entertainment industries for the most part, have there heads where the sun doesnt shine.
It doesnt matter if they mention it or not, although I admit it would be nice.
I wont ever forget what you guys have done with our guys, and there are hundreds of thousands of other Americans that wont forget either.
I salute you guys, and all the forces brave enough to shove World opinion and UN opinion aside and jump on board with us and help us do the right, just thing.
My thanks to the Poles, the Brits, the Aussies, and my own soldiers. You all are doing a tremendous job that is important to us all, whether some of us are smart enough to know it or not.
Godspeed to the coalition! Kick some ######

"The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war." --Douglas MacArthur
"In the final choice a soldier's pack is not so heavy a burden as a prisoner's chains." --Dwight D. Eisenhower
"Aggressive conduct, if allowed to go unchecked and unchallenged, ultimately leads to war." --John F. Kennedy
"The quickest way of ending a war is to lose it." --George Orwell

I thought these were pretty cool, and very relevant here, no matter what your view of the war is.

I want to apologize for this post. Although my feelings are accurately stated, I did get a little carried away in the post, and let too much emotion show.
If I offended anyone, I am truly sorry.
Please forgive the rantings of a frustrated man.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s822062.htmEverything I said about protesters, and the French, I now stand by 100%.
They are all lower than prehistoric frog s--t!!

Man, what a bunch of low lifes.

Make them all human shields at military targets ! !

Talk about low.

Y'all say what ya want and stand up for them if you must, but this is downright despicable.

I dont know about anyone else, but I have had it with the lot of them.

And I want everyone here to know, up front, as I have said before, this is not a personal affront to anyone here on this forum, unless you are one of the idiots with a can of spray paint in your hand.

If my remarks offend anyone personally here, they are not meant to do so, and I apologize to you personally. But this makes me so damn furious!! What good does it do, and who does it hurt?

It does no good, and defiles the memory of those men who fought for France's freedom, and is only an affront to their families ! !

Find another way to send your stupid, uninformed messages ! !(Directed towards idiots) not forum members ! !

Couldnt just opt out of the war and keep mouths shut, have to do stupid s--t like this. Makes me sick.

Frig the lot of them.

And these have everyone upset and thats why they call us greedy and empire builders huh? Sounds like the "Profits" will benefit everyone, not just us greedy american empire builders.'

An email I received. I thought it might lighten things up a bit, even though part of it is very true....the Aussies,(God Bless them for being there with us) do get very little press coverage. I'll bet they are grateful for that...I would be!
The truth about the Aussie SAS...
There has been some speculation about why the Australian military
contribution to the war in Iraq has not received anything like the
coverage that the American (obviously) and British forces have.
Well the reasons are twofold: firstly, the size of the force is a
great deal smaller as it is made up of the elite Australian Special
Air Service (which is operating in conjunction with their British SAS
and American Delta Force & SEAL counterparts)... and secondly the fact
they are special forces means operational security is paramount. The
Aussies are famous in Special Forces circles for their ability to
survive without re-supply for long periods of time, something very
useful when operating behind enemy lines. Just how they do this is a
closely guarded secret.
However there is another more... puzzling... aspect to the lack of
news, considering the Australians are the only group to invite the
Al-Jazeera TV channel to embed journalists with them. A recently
broadcast signal from a Australian SAS unit 'somewhere in Iraq' made
mention that they had run out of embedded journalists and could they
send a couple more out, preferably less stringy ones this time. It is
unclear what the significance of that last remark was.
Any ideas! lol

Three golfers (Bob, Max and Ted) were looking for a fourth. Bob mentions that his friend George is a pretty good golfer so they decide to invite him for the following Saturday.
“Sure, I'd love to play," sys George, "but I may be about ten minutes late so wait for me."
Saturday rolls around. Bob, Max and Ted arrive promptly at 9:00 and find George already waiting for them. He plays right-handed and beats them all. Quite pleased with their new fourth, they ask him if he'd like to play again the following Saturday.
"Yeah, sounds great," says George, "but I may be about ten minutes late, so wait for me."
The following Saturday, again, all four golfers show up on time, but this time George plays left-handed and beats them all. As they're getting ready to leave, George says, "See you next Saturday, but I may be about ten minutes late, so wait for me."
Every week from that time, George is right on time and plays great with whichever hand he decides to use. And every week he departs with the same message. After a couple of months, Ted is pretty tired of this routine, so he says, "Wait a minute, George. Every week you say you may be about ten minutes late, but you're right on time. You beat us either
left-handed or right-handed. What's the story?"
"Well," says George "I'm kind of superstitious. When I get up in the morning, I look at my wife. If she's sleeping on her left side, I play left-handed, and if she's sleeping on her right side, I play right-handed."
"So what do you do if she's sleeping on her back?" asks Bob.
"Then I'll be about ten minutes late," George answers.

As soon as I get some money, Im going back to nvidia. The drivers for my ati have been nothing but trouble, and they are on the 3rd version of the drivers in 6 weeks. Currently, they say, the catalyst 3.2 should resolve issues. Im about to find out. ATI has always made good hardware, but they have never been able to write a driver worth a damn. Plus I cant get a driver for linux for it.
This ati card was the worst money I ever spent.
I also run a P4 1.8, 512 PC 2700 DDR RAM.
Also, Rocky. Dont enable AGP 8x. It has been proven to actually run a little slower with most current software, than AGP4x, according to Maximum PC magazine. They ran a whole series of tests on it, and AGP8x was slower than 4x.
