  1. It was 2001, September. I was reading through some forums when I read about the coming GR game, by the release of the PC Gamer review in the winter of 2001 - I was hyped! I was given a copy by my Godmother for Christmas, I remember the first moment I received it, elated, freaked out, my first tactical shooter! - (Half Life/DOD were the games I played at the time.) Installed the game that Christmas day, beat the game that same day as well. Ever since then, I was hooked. Played it for approximately five years, by 2006-07 I uninstalled the game for OFP/ArmA - I was an on-off clan member of DME for those five years, played numerous 1v1-2v2-3v3+ games throughout those years, saw my share of legit shooters, and handfuls of hackers, never deterred me from playing, always brought me back for more. For me, I was never the "Modern combat" type, but this game took me in, and kept me in for the long run, sure, I played R6 (for a stint), but my transition from Red Orchestra, back to GR, and then ArmA...yeah...Quite the fun. I sure miss Ghost Recon though, I still have the game, and I want to see whats worth playing w/ mods, and such...My brother and I were taking a jog the other day and struck up a heavy conversation about our GR days...
  2. Is the cycle-through enabled in graw 2? Just like [GR]??? Or is it like graw..still. People (from the thread) are saying it feels good...Can I get some screens, gameplay...etc.?
  3. I'll be there...Give me the info!
  4. yeah...I just enjoy the booms....dear god is that brutal
  5. An amazing mod; I really enjoy it!!! I plan to play more with it...see how it flows...Its really great; the weapon skins are clean too...This beats graw any day...thanks!
  6. I wonder how grin is feeling...probably just as good as a punch to the groin....
  7. My first 'modding' is mission designs...I'll see how it goes in the next month...How many mis.'s I can put out...after some testing.. I'll write more in the modding section.
  8. So yes...I rarely posted on Gr.net; I find it odd since I came to this website weekly to check out ghost recon mods, news, etc. and never did I once actually think to post here. Well yeah; when GRAW was put out I had lost my mind and my hope for the future of GRAW and then...Then!! Did I sign up to the forums to post only regrets. Just last week though; I had a sudden itch. An itch for [GR], somewhat like an evil heat...Creeping under my flesh...and ready to explode. After 11 months of not playing GR, I reinstalled the game and gave it a whirl. First thing was first though; dl all the mods I love...as well as the new mods that have been released these past months. I must say...I am still blown out of the water at how good the game is. I have been playing Red orchestra, Il2, helping beta test a few games...and moderating www.armed-assault-zone.com (waiting) as I wait for the game to be released.... As I type this...I stare at the box that has GRAW in it..and I laugh...I laugh with the knowing that a game of almost 5 and a half years of age is still kicking ass! Well yeah; I am ranting..and most of you probably don't care...but I will say one things... I am going to start modding in gr...and stick with it...my bloods boiling..and my mental phallus is protruding...ha! So yes... if its ok...I would like a welcome hug from the gr.net community... Regards, -Enven.
  9. A great mod, I was blown away by the skinning/weapons...Just really enjoyable!!! Thanks for such a great mod! (It feels good to come back to GR!)
  10. How long have you been playing GR? Since 2001 xmas. Stopped playing Since GRAW..Sadly. How much do you play on average? I used to play at least 3-4 hours on average a day..Sometimes more; I used to love MP...I played with DME for a very, very long time. Do you play primarily single-player, multi-player (are there single- and multi-player options?), or online? Multiplayer...Mainly coop/Adversarial/basic shootouts...(brainfart); I played SP when some asswhooping mods came out...but mainly MP.. Are you or do you know anyone who's in any sort of GR group (a clan for instance or a team), and if so, what do you/they do in it? I was in DME: we were basically #1 for a very long time on tag...Very good group of people. We play games.. What do you like best about the GR games? Replaybility/gameplay...The excitement...It was a great all around game. 4 and a half years of playing it..I really didn't get bored..that says a lot. Do you find yourself at all compelled by the narrative/fantasy element of the game (i.e. pretending to be a Captain Mithcell)? I'm not gay. To what degree is one able to customize in GR (weapons and characters and such) and how much do you care about this? I care a lot..the fact that they changed the game up with mods...addons..skins etc...just made everything all the more enjoyable..I loved that game so much... What sorts of external participation do you engage in? Forums...Clans...I used to dress up like a Sudanese man and roam my block... Do you read and/or post to forums (including this one) often, and if so, why? I read gr.net since it was put online...I posted on here recently though because I was sickened by graw...I would have been more active in the gr.net community but I had my clan which had a core group of guys I'd play with. Have you created any sort of GR media -- wallpapers, fan-fics, video clips... etc.? If so, did you make them available online? Yes I made a few wallpapers. Have you ever created informational pages--walkthroughs or characters bios or the like? I wrote a few Walkthroughs for my clan on how to skin etc. Have you ever been to a GR lan party, tournament, or other event? And if the answer to any of the above participation questions was yes, do you know why you engage in this/these activity(-ies)? As in, do you know what you enjoy about them? -No one really lanned GR..except in 02-03' when I put all my gaming friends are gun-point. What other games do you like, and do you participate in those fan communities as well? IRed Orchestra, IL2, ArmA (Release already), HL2 . To what extent do you think your participation in the GR community derives from a desire for closer connection to people, as opposed to closer connection to the game? It doesn't. I enjoy the game without connecting to people..I used resources...yes, but never had to speak to the gr.net community to fully enjoy the game...or connect to it. Do you feel you've gotten to know people through either the game or the fan community? Do you feel you've gotten close to anyone through the game or the fan community? If not, are these things you'd be interested in? -These days it doesnt really matter much anymore; graw is a ruined game..they fubar'd it to the point of no return...I won't even put it on my pc...Its a ###### shame...and a sham! Due to the release...I noticed a drop off...More or less...a decline in gr activity...for many of the people I once played with...its a shame really.
  11. Very nice mod mate. I am really enjoying it a lot...Its good to see how speedy all the modding has been and all the positive updates that the dev's have given...Giving to the community more of a chance to mod; Excellent work dude.
  12. X2 u know all these people that have regestered after the game was released just complain And whats your point?
  13. Really? In what capacity are you going to E3? Are you in the business? I am doing a writeup for a specific website/company (so I have press). -Enven
  14. Why? What happened? I'm curious. Did you have gameplay or performance issues? Or did you abandon it because you wanted it mainly for mp? Bahger, Hi and thanks for asking; the reason why I abandoned it was because of the gameplay...I was losing interest fast...I dont really favor the size of the weapon model, the aiming is way to simple and so on...I also had trouble with looking at tracers every time I fired...Which was funny to me... Other than other obvious problems most people posted (Redundant...I know); I was just flustered...I was playing it on Hard...No problem to be honest; the graphics are fine..My rig can play it on high with not huge fps' drop... Just out of all honesty; I was just getting tired of the feeling of it...I felt like I was playing a console game (I cant stand console...heh). To add about the MP/COOP thing; that was another important attribute to the gr series I was hoping to check out, unfortunately...I was disillusioned by the entire experience...Just hoping to see an update as soon as they can..I am in no rush about updates (I waited almost three years for this...I can wait another week(s), month, year (even if it came to that) just to see some changes...But I wont say this game is a lost cause...I wouldnt be here if I thought so...I just want to play a part of the devils advocate and reserve some of my mixed thoughts.. -Enven.
  15. I think opinions are the best thing at this point for gr:aw to get somewhat of an upgrade..I have never complained about a game before (to this extent on a forum.) and held on to it hoping for something good to happen, as crazy as it sounds its because I hope for something to be done... Other than that...I hope grin does update it to a better playing standard...I have faith in the GR name, as well as many others. Which is why most people are expressing their feelings about the game. Why else would this forum be up? To just give an e-hand-job to whomever reads this? I am not here to hook people on something or give false praise...Nor can others! I just see it this way...If you can't express an opinion (ON A FORUM) then there is no reason to even have a forum...At this moment in time the negative criticisms are more negative than positive for good reason...The game is more than just incomplete...It isnt the game we were looking to play....(we as in people who find the same problems...A lot of the complaints are contrasting..Which is crazy, because most of the time when games are released everyone has a pretty distant view/idea of expectations...If you look at a lot of the threads..A lot of the criticism are the same) I won't be returning the game or doing anything drastic, like crapping in the box and sending it to the ubi hq....I will just wait..and Hope...For now..The game is not going on this computer... I uninstalled it after I beat the third mission...and to be honest...The vein in my forehead was buldging and I ate a fetus out of pure anger... -Enven. P.S. I'll be going to e3 tomorrow....and the day after....I hope to see something worth playing...heh. oh and does anyone find it funny that the first mission they halo into a city..Why not chopper in...They would have been detected either way most likely...and not spread apart...
  16. just so you don't get me mixed up in this generalisation. I've played [GR] since release on a variety of machines and even have it installed now on my current game box along with a bunch of customised content and mods. As has been stated the SDK/mod tools weren't released for a while either so why the rush? Sure Ubi may have forced GRIN's hand in releasing it when they did but then the same people screaming about the game now would be screaming about the delay, its the nature of the beast that is the spoilt gamer. [GR] as a "raw whole" was a compilation of expansions, patches and an inspired initial release that hadn't been done before. If you look at the game objectively, ignoring the fact that its a sequel and compare it to games that have a modicum of similarity such as BF2 and other more current tactical shooters you'll probably be less testy. BF2 *at release* was buggy as hell and went through various patches before stability and playability were at an acceptable level. Now obviously BF2 is a primarily online focussed game where as GRAW is aimed more at a SP market and rightly so. You're more than correct about [GR] being entirely built off of patch/addons etc. But in all honesty..The game needed more of that [GR] Feel. Even in [GR]'s "Raw form" you still had that gameplay value that was uncanny, GR:AW lost that uncanny feeling from the get-go. I was not impressed on bit about the SP...I am sorry...but BF2 is not comparible to a Ghost Recon (series) game... But in all honesty; GRIN pushed this game to a completely different style...It may have some modes that kept it somewhat like the feel of [GR]...But those were phased out once I got into playing it. I have a pretty killer rig..I can run the settings on medium/high with no problems...and still..Trying to get the feel of this game...Its not there...The game I recall is not there. I must say...Its more than just cosmetic..Its registry wise also! I noticed...When zooming with the aimpoint...You do not have to aim entirely...and you'll pop a dude...The controls feel too bubbly also. I mean; i can go on with negative points... But I do hope they fix this game up in the next patch...I just wish they could have released something more complete and more 'realistic- feeling'.... Regards to the negative and the positive, Enven Longtime GR players (that is, "anyone who's anyone," to use your words) hate GRAW and new player like it, because they don't know any better. Utterly asinine, very likely incorrect, and unbacked by anything approximating hard evidence. Very conducive, however, to your view that the game is empirically bad and anyone who thinks otherwise is either a "fanboi" or just doesn't know the GR series' legacy. Apparently, people who like some parts or all of GRAW couldn't possibly be part of the "community." Perhaps you should simply extend this point of view (which is, by the way, nothing new) and claim that everyone who disagrees with you is also a communist and eats babies. Kudos to Lightspeed for revising his post (if he genuinely feels that opinion of the game is different, now;) the first post came off as a rant, whereas the second shows a real attempt to look at the game beyond the crushingly heavy burden of expectations placed on it by GR1. This displays a certain amount of maturity and rationality that's been sorely missing from these forums. you communist! (I didnt mean it in literal..I just wanted to throw it out there jokingly...Not the communist part though..you're a filthy red..and deserve a russian heart attack. Kudos to your knowledge in logic!!)
  17. Lightspeed; you pretty much spoke for every person who played gr from the get-go. Anyone who is anyone knows (in fact!) that gr:aw was a big upset...If you notice the people defending..Most are new to gr..and do not understand how amazing [GR] was...and what we as a community were hoping for... It was a big upset..and to be honest...I a more than disenfranchised by the entire ordeal. [GR] as a 'raw' whole...amazing..The game was jam packed with everything from the start..Load-outs/gameplay styles from coop to mp/sp modes!! an SDK/MOD/MAP TOOLS!! EVERYTHING!!!! grin/ubi ruined this..I wonder what would have happened if redstorm did graw...
  18. My main wishes are pretty minute... Bring back the [GR] gameplay styles; more versatile gameplay = fun. and release the sdk/mod tools to the public already...Why wait for a patch? Whats the big deal?
  19. I was going to do the same actually. But instead of sending it back... I was going to ###### in the box; tape it up and send it to grin with a nice letter expressing my frustration with GRAW. -30 more days...
  20. The subject was never even thought up. is it just me or is every ###### game coming out incomplete? Everyone is rushing to put out Grade A ######. IMO GR:AW might be upgraded..But the fact of the matter is...Incomplete; the key word..IN COM PLETE AH
  21. I have one initial questioning problem... The box of the game does not even explain the plot...If you skim through it; you will notice it only explains all the 'advanced' weaponry and technical defining moments...Kind of odd. I'll re-write my opinion of the game in full by saturday....haha
  22. I just spoke with a friend who is in 3rd Group. He stated that the M4 is still the primary Rifle..and Scar's are being placed with some 'black units'...The groups really excited about the weapon and the new stuff being released.. He also said that the Glock gets issued to only some folks. Also: M249 and M240 G are the primary saw's at this moment and the Bravo is being phased out finally. So yeah...SCAR is most likely going to be a primary..Maybe.... -Enven
