I can be a little more specific..
Well i don't know exactly how many ppl there is in a Ghost Recon clan. But if there is 12 i think it would cost each member about 20$ a month to rent it. That aint that much of a price beeing a grownup etc.
The servers will only run one copy of the game each. And on windows 2003 server i guess, since it is very safer than XP.
The customer gets the remote desktop password and login and woila, i think we are in business.
Until now all the games we host, cs-bf2-q3 etc is running on Linux.
We have atleat 1 Gbit hostingspeed so we wont dry out just yet. I hope there can be business in this so we don't give away the servers for free.
But would GR run great on a P4 3.0 ghz with 2Gb ram ?
And is 240$ a month a stiff price for a high quality dedicated server ?. I know it would be for 14 year old counter-strike players. But what about us up in the years ?

I'm actually considering bringing up a couple of servers on Norway. Running on pentium 4 3.6 ghz with 2 Gb ram. I will try to run two servers on each box, which runs windows 2003 server. I'm quite exited how this will turn out.
It is offcourse a ###### that i can't remotly control the server ingame, so i have to login with remote desktop to change something. but well well.
I hope people will play on them =)

Blah.. Why do theese guys need to be so different from all others ?.

Anyways, i can run a few server 2003 boxes, no problem actually. I hope it is easy to remotely control the server. And i still cannot believe why you cant control the game with restarts etc. But else it is a really great game, i have watched a companion play the full version for 2 days now, the graphics is amazing.
.. wow wow..

in GR1 it could all be setup via the GUI, there was no console to do stuff like quickly restart the round or kick/ban people mid game and i thought this one of GR's biggest draw backs.
www.thecombatzone.net and www.clanbase.com were pretty big back in the day
and generally games were hamburger hill with no respawns although there were last man standing ladders too
Ahh.
Thanx for your reply. I took a look at the combat zone and noticed they are going to arrange an 7vs7 ladder in Gr:AW. Let's hope this game get's populaer more than ever this time.
But strange as hell that no console is implemented in the game, that is to me really odd. And how does the server files work ?. Linux is what all our gameservers is run on.

Hi everyone
There is a few topics i'd like to address, i played ghost recon 1 a lot. I played it with all my friends but we never seemed to find the "scene", almost as it was invisible to us.
I have played Counter-Strike, Quake 3 and Battlefield 2 and all the games have a huge scene with a lot of clans, which i don't see at all in ghost recon.
But is there one ?. How do you guys compete?. Other sites that covers this?
It would be quite remarkable if no scene exists in great games as this.
And when it comes to competing and clanmatches, how on earth do i open console to restart server etc ?. How about those other commands ?
I run my own server company in norway and we really want to know more about this "scene" and the game itself.
