does anyone know how to actually disable the music? i can turn it down so i cant hear it but it is really still playing and i only have onboard sound :S so turning it off completely would be to my advantage.
-
most of us understand that, couldnt they just make an option to NOT use differed lighting??
the question is how difficult would it be to implement a different lighting system into the engine?
that way you could have
1/ differed lighting + no AA
2/ regular* lighting + AA
-
does anyone know if/how to disable the crosshairs?
im not a fan of moving crosshairs ewww , ie - call of duty style
and the blue circle is a bit big :S
cheers

i have a question, i have an x800pro that isnt meant to be able to render HDR, so why then cant i enable AA if the HDR isnt even working??
btw the game looks as if HDR is working although i know its not true HDR, it must be imitation HDR like HL2, so where is my AA?
Aliasing is teh true enemy >.<
-
ok so a couple ppl claim that forcing AA on in ATI's CCC will give you AA.
i have yet to see proof of this! although i must admit i am using the omega driver based on 6.3 as omega havnt released a driver based on 6.4 yet (that i know of)
can we please have some un-resized screenies and thanks for your time!
lol i hope it works, please please please

edit: on another note in oblivion it has deffered lighting effects like heat wave type things coming out of the portal, i notice when AA is enabled these heat waves vanish, so even though both arnt compatable you at least have the option.
edit 2: i have an x800pro that cant render true HDR so why cant i get AA if true HDR isnt on anyway??

yer soz rocky was trying to make a statment, will keep warez out of future posts.
-
thankyou rocky for redirecting me to this thread
ok yes we need an option to turn HDR off and AA on
it may be a huge effort to allow that option but honestly when was the last time you played a pc fps without it??
i really like the HDR/differed lighting effects but would rather a HL2 type version of it that allowed AA , even if it doesnt look quite as good.
i hope the devs are reading this and understand that for competetive online play AA is a must.
the lack of AA really brings down the graphics of this game if you cant run it at 1000000000 x 100000000 resolution.
the jaggies look worse everytime i play...
-
hey i said for future releases and possible patches , they said oblivion couldnt do both and wam , we now have both.
I understand the use of diffuse lighting or whatever isnt compatable with AA however down the line in a patch or gr4 it may be possible, and it certainly wont happen if you just bend over and take it.
thanks for ur constructive input.
-
yep go to the roof and grab a rocket off the chopper and blow that tank to hell.
-
I agree fully , however my posts keep getting deleted and locked because its only considered "constructive" if they agree...
-
I request that the mods of the forum leave ONE thread open to discuss the absence of Anti Aliasing
i know it will not happen but deleting and locking the threads is not constructive at all, and it will give the devs an opportunity to see the mass displeasure of having no AA so they consider adding it in future releases and even possibly patches...
AA ftw.
-
yes you are right but i want to get the message across that this isnt worth my hard earned cash yet , and as the devs and mods know hacked copies are very easy to come by...
my point is make me WANT to buy it.
-
very good call, if the game isnt improved in 30 days ill take it back for a refund and dl a hacked copy for the sp.
-
i wish for Anti-Aliasing!! (no flaming this is a WISH list)
and the usual bug fixes etc everyone else has already mentioned
coop needs a respawn system and the abilty to choose the captain, not making the host go captain.
aaaand mp needs some better game types , domination is run and gun spam, feels like im playing something n00by like bf2 or quake 3.
-
my friend has the same problem , he also uses onboard sound (i dont know if you have a sound card or not)
anyway he went into dxdiag and turned sound acceleration down a notch and seems to have fixed the problem.
-
yer thats a fair call, perhaps we just need to see what the patch has offer.
but it still wont have AA wahhhhh

-
I love graw but im sorry, graphicly HL2 > G.R.A.W.
grin should have just used the farcry engine
at least then it would run smooth and have HDR + AAvery nice attempt grin & ubi , but sorry you guys have just fallen short.
and next time you make a FPS remember that a FPS always always always NEEDS ANTI-ALIASING!!!!!
ill be back when gr4 is out , IF it has AA.
-
Now i know the devs are sick of hearing about the lack of Anti-Aliasing and the forum mods keep deleting any post regarding anti-aliasing complaints...so i guess this will be censored too.
anyway if there are so many complaints about the lack of AA isnt that telling you something???
before i get started the lighting effects and textures etc are brilliant and full credit to the dev team.
but really the devs who designed this game are not "gamers" or they would have understood in a FPS with long distances especially in the type of enviroments they have created Anti-Aliasing is a must! These urban enviroments show the "jaggies" everywhere you look..
This game was obviously designed for console because the lack of AA looks fine on a TV when you are sitting 3 meters away from it , but for a pc monitor AA is a must have.
i have a 19" lcd and this game really looks terrible, looks as if it was made out of lego..
most gamers have not played a game without Anti-Aliasing for a few years now...
i think an option really needs to be put in place - diffuse lighting + no AA OR normal lighting + AA
this is a fantastic game but the lack of AA makes it look so ugly.
even my old old call of duty looks better cause at least i can force AA onto it through the gfx card...
all i ask for is to give us an option!!
oh and is there any way to minimise or remove the HUGE mp chat window , omg its in a terrible position lol.
-
intel p4 3.0
2gb ram
x800pro
1280x768 widescreen
textures - high
effects - medium
post processing effects - high
AF x 4
dynamic lighting - on
shadows - off
25 - 50 fps
avg fps - 35
if i turn shadows on i lose about 5 fps
and i know if you turn post processing effects to medium it will gain another 5 or so fps but i find the way the light "bleeds" on high helps to remove some of the jaggedness due to no AA
-
8/10
1.needs AA / diffuse lighting options!
2.mp needs a search and destroy type mode, one team defends an objective the other attacks with no respawns.
-
game is great and the lighting looks fantastic, its the best iv seen and i can see why they chose to use it, especially considering that the xbox360 version is being played on TV's it doesnt look jagged with the absence of AA
the PC version however needs options.
id rather better performance+AA over diffuse lighting anyday.
i could handle losing a few heat waves for the gains...
-
i agree, the mp domination mode isnt the greatest , it really needs an objective or search and destroy game mode.
i really loved the co-op mode , shame its only for lan and there are no respawns or checkpoints which is very dissapointing, however it really made me and my friends play like a proper squad because 1 mistake and weeee start all over again hehe
sp campaign is great , im about half way through and really enjoying it
needs an anti aliasing option >.<
-
great game!
needs the option to turn diffuse lighting off and apply Anti-Aliasing with a bloom effect!
and also needs co-op for internet play! it would be great to jump on dedicated servers running co-op

and needs respawns or a checkpoint for co-op
-
the game needs anit-aliasing and to be optimised a bit aswell, feels buggy.
other than that, top game!

AA? in full version?

Also, seems everybody want a scapegoat for the system requirements, but deferred lighting is not it. Sure you'll get a performance boost by turning off post effects - as long as the GPU is doing all the work - but as soon as you get into a firefight the CPU has some serious work to do, and then the framerate will drop regardless. It's not as simple as some of you self-proclaimed experts make it out to be.
so you are saying that when you turn off post processing effects in the xml that is turning off deffered lighting? if so why wont AA work in that situation?
soz bout the quote lol , my browser/java is playing up
