Trust me F**ckwit today isn't the day to keep ###### me off as I'm very likely right now to rip you a new one good enough that I'll get myself banned. Not that it will be anything of a loss as this forums has been going down the ######ter ever since the influx in the last year of GR:AW whingers started taking place. My only regret is that I most likely won't get the chance to come back in again and reply to asswipes like you.
To reply to your other little thread...yeah I know you can't model for ###### because if you could chanses are you would understand where I'm coming from and that you would of made your beloved Aug yourself. Hell I could model/texture an Aug in hours if I wanted to. But as your current skill level seems limited to slapping together some different colours in photoshop, something a reasonably talented moneky could manage I guess you will never understand.
As for this crap
Thats what was done, it was re-distrubuted, by accident... and it was not edited..Just as your readme says. The M4 SOPMOD is as you created it, and BTW, i cant model for ###### so dont jump to the conclusion that i can.
As soon as you repackaged it into a new .zip file with additional files it's edited, period.
I don't know if I'm cursed or what's going on but every mod/model I've ever released has been the subject of mod theft of some form.
*Ares Shrike----DA4.9 (oh woopsie...sorry moderators I know you prefer us not to mention that name
)*XM8 Armory----Realism mod whatever version it was
*SWEBAT Beta----various models to various sources....including thales/asswipe
as he tried nicking several models for his half assed projects*An Eotech model for VBS1 that 2 days after I let one person use it started surfacing on other ppl's models
*a Diemaco package for the Canadian Army where a team member took it upon himself to repaint my textures and ship without even telling me.
*USMC Upgrade for VBS1---another teammember desided to edit the beta he was testing as he didn't like the loadouts.
And there are others aswell I'm sure as I've gracefully made and donated a crapload of characters to various GR modders over the years.

So needless to say I've F88cking had it with modding games in general, especially modding for this community. When I started out so long ago ppl were appreciative of the effort us modders put in and respected our wishes when it came to our hard work. Nowadays that isn't the case however, release something and all of a sudden we are expected to keep on giving, and giving. We are expected to at your very wish give up our copyright, hell we never got payed for the hours we put in so what would be the harm in asswipes ripping all that hard work off you think? Well, I can tell you this...that whole mentality has driven more talented ppl away from this forum and GR modding that what you could bare to think of, just this very week you have lost a handful of ppl that gave their hard work for free to the community...way to go ID10T's! It will soon just be the noob wannabies that try modding for you and judging by their skill level and aparent lack of wanting to learn to get better you ain't going to like what they have to give.
Snow....signing off....Foxtrot Uniform
PS: for those who get a kick out of this post you better do a print screen and save it rather quick as it's not likely to be allowed to stand for more than a few minutes by our beloved moderators.

Oh well, with latest developments it's once again time to reinstate my earlier thoughts about giving this whole scene the finger.
In the last week and a half there's been 2 instances of edited M4 files getting offered for download by other "modders", folks that seem to be fully capable of skinning and modeling but totally unable to read and understand a simple readme file

I have officially had it this time around the block and I'm giving up....do whatever the F you feel like with said M4 files as they are the very last ones you will see released by me for any GR based game, I'm abandoning the [GR] HEAT project and my GR:AW 2 weapons project as of right now.
@Rocky: if you read this mate please whipe my account on this forums, it's not going to be used any further.

Well, just judging by the ingame look and caliber I'd say that what we had in GR:AW was an M249 SPW, not an Mk48 or Mk46.
GR:AW Mk48

.jpg)
M249 SPW

Both the Mk46 and Mk48 has a different top heatshield with a picatinny rail ontop and the GR:AW weapons just doesn't have that

Besides....give me a good ole MAG58/M240 anyday over it's smaller cousins. There's nothing that's a too heavy weapons....just soldiers in need of more pushups. I'm a midget at 5'9 and a mere 120lbs and I could still haul and shoot the thing comfortably.

Not that it would of bothered me if it had been mate...my feelings about thales ain't that hard to find out if you start reading though this forum.

It is indeed a shame that you feel that way and by the looks of it more or less demand Jay & Company to patch it ASAP. They have worked on this mod for 3 years now and asfar as I'm concerend deserve a break to do something other than look at vertices/triangles, pixels and code. Have you ever worked on something for 3 years straight without anything but the publics anticipation and your own enjoyment as only pay? I seriously think the answer to that question is "no" as you don't even seem to have enough patience to wait alittle while for some bug fixes.

The one thing I've learnt as a modder, and about modders in general, is that when ppl come in and demand something done you are liable to tick them off...to the point that they stop modding alltogether! So far I haven't released a single mod where I've had a different result than being swamped by PM's and emails about what's wrong with said mod or what the numbnut sending me the email would of loved to see done differently. Even down to silly things like requests of scaling up the barrel thickness on my XM8's so they look more like 7.62x51 instead of 5.56x45....how would you ever notice a few mm worth of a difference ingame???
SO...give it a rest guys...if Jay & co feel they have enough energy and dedication left for a virtually dead game then I'm sure they will come back and do their best to patch CENTCOM.....but if you keep demanding fixes I'm sure you will drive atleast a few of them away for good.

Guess it could of mate, then again I've never officially said anything about who the perticular asswipe was...chems comment was a guess from his side.

Ofcource I am mate
It's beyond far the best "road trip" movie ever made!Only reason I desided not to include the Bandit's front georgia plate in the above render is because it's texture suck.

Cheers mate
I'm acctually about to call this thing finished and move on even though there still are some minor areas that could need refinement. I've just lost the drive to continue on this perticular model for some reason.
I've tossed the question up among my teammates of what car they would like to see next, 70's muscle car ofcource, and got a few suggestions. Unfortunately some of those are hampered by the lack of good blueprints available...best bet right now is either a Ford Falcon XB GT or a Plymouth AAR Cuda

Sounds almost like it could be a portal problem with the map, so it would be very interesting to know if all you guys took the same path before ending up inside that tower. This because portal problems generally don't tend to show up as you pass through the portal with the problem but at the very next portal you pass through.
As for Jay's whereabouts...he's very recently got himself a copy of VBS1 so I'm guessing he's busy acctually playing a game for a change instead of modding one for your enjoyment. Give the man a well deserved holiday guys!

Zoom control as in level of magnification?
If so then I'm pretty sure both are linked to character animations and can't be altered.
-
True, but in most cases where mod support is given it's just a technical challenge. Ie, you have to learn new techniques like normal mapping and also animation.
Other than the obvious animation problems with GR:AW weapons mods and also the unified .xml files (mod_data.xml and weapon_data.xml mostly) GR:AW isn't really that hard to model for once you have the technical knowledge.
-
It's quite simple really, GR:AW uses that bodyawareness system right. So in other words everything is linked to the characters animations, even something as simple as going from aiming using the ret to bringing up the sights is animation controlled as the "view camera" is linked to the characters head.
So to make a new weapon we are either faced with having to make brand new animations, something we don't really have the tools for, or reusing original GR:AW animations.
Reusing old ones are pretty straight forward aslong as your new models LOS (Line Of Sight) is identical to the old models, if it's different then the sight picture just won't line up properly. For the M4 I used the already excisting animations from the SCAR's but as the new LOS didn't match with the SCAR's I had to use some simple workarounds to get it to work, sightraiser for the aimpoint and I needed to raise the ironsights slightly.
I'm sure I could easily put things like a HKG3, G36 or FN P90 into the game, their LOS would be close to the MP5SD's, XM8's and MRC's respectively but the rest of the animations just won't line up properly. The easiest weapon to add would most likely be something like a standard MP5A3 as the MP5SD's anims would match perfectly, I'm suprise no one's done this already.
-
@ScOpE: Nah, I ain't going to say mate...just that there might be more than just one new weapon that I'll be making, right now I'm more or less planning 3 new ones. And I've already got nearly finished base models to start from

@SAP: I had a similar problem with the M4 at the very start but I can't say for sure how I fixed it....or if I did fix it fully. I do suspect my problem had something to do with mirrored textures though, as it only appeared on come parts. In your situation it seems to affect the whole model though so it's likely model based.
Try this. First select the whole model in 3dsm and reset Xform, then re-export the model.
-
Then again...a projectile texure for something like that doesn't really need to be any bigger than 64x64 and that won't affect performance at all!
-
It's still extremely rough though mate, and I'm more and more starting to realise I've given the barrel way to small space in my texture as it's way to blurry for my liking.

And this weather just won't let up on my...just sat through another 2 hours of continous thunderstorms today, it's wreacking havoc with my productivity!

I generally tend to want to keep everything separate from my OS install, even on separate discs! So this is my current setup.
HD1 80Gb SATA
Partition 1: OS and various programs
Partition 2: Swap and pagefiles
HD2 120Gb SATA
Partition 1: Games
Partition 2: Mod work
HD3 80Gb External 3.5" disc
Backup1, mod work and a clean ghost image of my C: drive with OS and programs installed
HD4 60Gb External 2.5" disc
Share disc, something I'll bring along whenever I have to share files with someone.

Nah, I'm just a nutter mate.
A nutter who's already started modeling one perticular weapon for GR:AW2
I want to have it as finished as possible, with colour/spec and normal maps for when the release comes.
I've modded all other GR versions availabe on the PC so I'll atleast release something for GR:AW2, just got my fingers crossed that we'll get exporter tools!
