  1. As Lancer said we are working hard on getting everything sorted. I'm currently working on adding in all of our characters into the mod in an orderly fashion, had alittle bit of a weird naming system earlier as much of the stuff were "work in progress". But with the help of Mamon and Lancer I'm sure we'll get this sorted in notime!

Here's a little screenshot for you, find the sniper in it if you can. (god I hope I hid him ok!)

  2. uh oh, didn't think of that! :wall: Unfortunately I'm just that slightly to bogged down with work on the swebat mod to sit down and model something new at the moment. Even though I've made about 18 new characters there's still about 15 left to make!

  3. Problem is with an attachment like that you need a bareheaded character to put it on, in other cases things will be sticking through it in a very odd way. That's unless you are sneaky and simply Alpha layer out the part that sticks out, like a helmet, cap or boonie. It will still be there as far as your hit sector is concerned though and you'll still get hurt or killed if hit there.

  4. I'd say that depends alittle on exactly where you get hit!

During a paintball match against a few of my mates I managed to sneak up behind one of them laying prone on the ground, figured that I just couldn't shoot the poor ###### in the back so I gave him a warning shout. He rolled over and I placed 3 nicely grouped balls among his other 2 balls  Add in the fact that he wasn't wearing a cup and was playing wearing shorts (the ######!) its easy to understand that he didn't get up for a long time!

Next time we played he was wearing both a cup and longpants, guess he'd learned his lesson the hard way!

  5. Well, here's alittle update for you all.

Right now the SWEBAT mod is going through alittle bit of a crisis, it turns out that the material Tollen had compiled, compressed and uploaded is corrupted! All of the .zip files stubbornly refused to open using winzip :wall: Luckily I managed to track down a zip recovery program and get them open, unfortunately with some files being unrecoverable, just to find another more or less expected suprise. Alot of the material is still "work in progress" stuff that still needs alot of work. It's also in more or less of a jumbled mess. Looks like we have alot of work ahead of us recompiling everything and getting a working beta copy out of it. Lucily I have some well needed help in the form of Lancer to get us through this.

None is to blame on Tollen though as he's had a hard time lately, with personal problem and the stress of starting his army service. Hopefully by the time he re-appears in the forum things will have calmed down some and he's settled into army life!

  6. Unfirtunately there hasn't been anything new made from my side in the last few days as I have been busy with SWEBAT and at work. Well, apart from touching up alittle on my MP5KA4 from WMC rnd 1 that is, also started slowly rebuilding that into an MP5K PDW.

@Swifty, yup, you got just that little bit carried away there mate! We'll try to make asmany as we can but no promises that we will make every little weapon that H&K has ever released. And I think we apart from the XM8 series are going to focus on the regularly produced weapons, so no G11's and CAWS unfortunately.

  7. Well, the lasers you are thinking of is nothing but a really long and thin cylinder textured to look like a laserbeam. In MP games this will be visible to all players BUT the one using the perticular gun as the GR engine doesn't render anything in first person. So the lasers does absolutely nothing for the player but give away his position to everyone else.

And lights, the only really working dynamic lights in GR are either on vehicles or the searchlights in maps (as the ones in m_11_pow camp). Even if you created a light with the correct tagging and put it on a weapon the grafics engine wouldn't know to look for on in a .qob file, only looks for them in .pob and .map files. So unfortunately proper weapons lights is a no go.

It can be created in the same way as the lasers though, just by adding a big cone textured to look like yellow light to the front of the weapon, but again that won't be seen by the player carrying the weapon only by other players in the game.

Hope that clears it up for you

  8. Thanks guys :D

@Thumper: I know!!!! Damn nearly fell out of the chair when I saw it! Think my head got atleast 3 sizes bigger from reading it too, thank god the wifes total indifference to it quickly took that out of me though or I wouldn't of made it thought the nearest doorway! ;)

@Lancer: I kinda prefer the big old metal beasts, atleast you don't get the feeling that you'd break the thing when holding it as you get with modern plastic toys!

@Unwanted, that's a heavily tweaked phototexture, as all my textures are. I really suck at making handpainted ones and every attempt I've made at making one always turns out looking like crap!

  9. It's all but similar to a Bofors AK5 mate, trust me I used an AK5 throughout my whole service.

This is an AK5 (FN FNC80)

    s_ak5.jpg

Never mind the weird looking thing on the muzzle though, the swedish army issues rubber caps as protextion on the muzzle nowadays, aparently all to many poor solidiers lost teeth from getting struck by their own rifles while entering and exiting vehicles.

  10. If you have either the patience or a decent internet connection you could always download Pain's video tutorials, they really game a great help in getting started!

    Can be found here

    Pain's webpage

Just look on the left hand side where it says "modding videos". They can be alittle of a pain to download though as fileplanet sometimes gives you errors but just try and try again untill you have them.

  11. I don't think anything really can make up for ABBA! It's got to be one of the cruelest things ever put infront of mankind! I though I was going to be able to get away from it moving as far away from Sweden physicly possible, but to no awail! These crazed australians are even more into ABBA than what swedes are. :wall:

And here's another litte update, the AK5 C family of weapons have been finalised! :D The version of the AK5 C we had displayed earlier has had some major changes to better match with the current AK5 CF (Experimental model), mainly a completely change colour sceme (from green to black) but also added rail on the handguard, last round mechanism, pistol grip from the KSP 90 and longer sight rail.

and speaking of cups, nothing can beat my regular coffe cup. The writing on that one really speaks the truth "###### Happends!" :P

  12. Well, I'm no expert on this issue (I know where to turn if I need one though) but as far as I know the whole idea behind the bullup design was building a overall shorter package but still retaining the barrel length of a conventional rifle.

Comparing the 3 most common bullups (Steyr AUG, FAMAS and SA80) to a normal M16A2 acctually shows that 2 out of the 3 have longer barrels than the M16A2, only the FAMAS has a shorter barrel (by a mere 2cm). But all 3 are still shorter overall than a normal M4 with its stock extended! That has to be a bullup rifles main advantage as with a longer barrel comes better accuracy and higher muzzle velocity! The later is something short barreled carbines such as the M4 lack greatly in, usually making the effective range drop considerably! This is a bullup rifles greatest advantage!

On the other hand, bullups do have a few serious drawbacks. One of them being balance, they tend to be rear heavy wich can give problems with muzzle climb and instinctive shooting. Another problem the bullup configuration almost always has is the position of the ejection port. With it so far back you cant really switch your weapon to the other shoulder and fire it, something that might come in handy in a combat situation to be able to shoot and still stay behind cover. Inevetable you'll end up getting most of the ejected shells straight into your face and that's not all to comfortable.

And realoading, I can't see that as taking that much longer than on a normal rifle as it's all a matter of learning the handgrips untill you virtually can do them in your sleep. Once you can them that well it should go just as quick as on any normal rifle, although with alittle bit more effort involved.

  13. Well, looks like I'll have to post up a little disclaimer here due to Tollen. In no way are there going to be a pink XM8 featuring in this mod! That was done purely for fun :P

And Lancer, don't think I've ever tried a proper egg nog in my life! I blame it all on this darn nice australian beer I've come across! Oh, and some of the blame has to lay on the scottish too for making their whiskey just a bit to smooth!

  14. Thanks guys :D I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out to say the least, think 3dsm 5.1 is going to be my favourite little toy from now on!

@Ogre, sorry about that mate! Good things keyboards are cheap :P

@Deleyt, the shine through in the mags I can't really take credit for as its a simple texturing job using some pretty high res pics of a G36 mag that I got donated to me from a mate.

@Chems, M4's? wouldn't dream of doing one of those mate! ;)

    And last but not least

@swifty: Is it that strange that it's me making it? After all I did do the Shrikes that no one else hanve tried their hand at properly.

And yes, all the 4 main versions are to be made, just have to swap out the parts really. And atleast the XM302 (GL) will be made of the attachments, not sure about the LSS though as I have no reference material on it at all! Oh, and we can toss in the XM25 too for good measure!

  15. well, probably be a little wait for it I'm afraid. Thumper and I have more or less gotten ourselves into a little sideproject besides SWEBAT, a H&K only weapons mod. We already have a good deal of H&K models done already, including Thumpers exellent G36 family of weapons and probably my MP5KA4 from WMC Rnd 1, but there are plenty left to do! We are right now finalising the list of weapons that needs to be done.
