  1. I've been playing a neat Mission(War Cry) over and over again.

Sometimes the LAV-support is being destroyed and when the BMPs are rushing in, I always want to tell my squad to retreat - but there is no option for that..at least one that I found.

Can I, before I enter a village/objective set a "fallback-position"-point where I am currently standing and then later just command my squad or whoever is left of it to just retreat to that before defined fallback-position ?

If that is not possible, is there a small mod allowing the squad-leader to do so ?

  2. 2 player co-op. Where's it all going to end .....

    1 PLAYER CO-OP!!!

What a joke, thank goodness science and medicine don't proregress like gaming does.

Some seem to forget, that CoD4 lived happily ever after without a Co-Op at all.

This time they at least included a Co-Op - which is a step forward.

At least for me. I am looking forward to going it, playing through the missions back-to-back with a buddy.

Of course I don't like not being able to play through the campaign with a couple of friends, but I understood why they didn't include it in CoD4 for the same reason - at least this time they created some 2player-missions.

I barely played on modded-servers, so I don't care as much that mod-support won't be there this time around.

And if you know where to look, you'll never pay the full price.

Main-reason behind that will be, to make us pay for the content that console-owners had to pay for with CoD4 and CoD5.

But they are not getting my money for some small things like maps - so I don't really care.

  3. You know, the whole expanding-crosshairs-weight-size-recoil-ballistics-does-matter thing.

From the latest gameplay one can tell, that this will unfortunately not be the case.

I couldn't spot any recoil. Weapons hop right back to the spot you've been aiming at.

I really hope that can be modded in - but then again, I was hoping for so much modding in CoD4 as well.

  4. Sad to see them close their doors.

Their efforts on the forums here to include as much of our suggestions as possible were highly appreciated - even if Ubisoft just didn't allow for too much to happen.

Anyways, I read that some of the Ex-GRINners already started a new studio(think it was outbreak studios) so in that matter, for every ending, there is a beginning.

We will see them again, for sure.

Good luck on the job-hunt. I've been there.

  5. Now I haven't been a big fan of [OFP: DR] all the way since I first saw ingame-material and I was convinced it would turn out to be a game I don't really want to play.

But with the new video, showing the game off shortly before its release and in a final state, I am pretty much sure I will end up buying the game, if PC-footage does convince me.

Also a german preview states, that since their last review back in april, when they had been sure the developers could never finish the game properly until june, that they are now really impressed with the game the state it is in.

On a notebook with a 7600GT the game runs smooth whilst still looking nice.

Looks like they really used their time and they still have more room for improvement until september/october.

Man, I hope some PC-footage will be released soon. Now I really want this game to be good.

  6. This video:

Looks fantastic, great sound effects.... but I seriously doubt that's in-game...

This was meant to be released as another target-trailer, what they wanted to achieve with the visuals - obviously they did not release it since the graphics are way off but it has been leaked shortly afterwards.

@viiiper - Yeah, I know with Red-Dot you see the surroundings, but I was hoping that we finally see the surroundings with a sniper-rifle as well.

  7. When it comes to the voice-work in general I miss Papa Bear(he was the king-deal in OFP).

The biggest issue I have with the radio-voices is the new way of telling whats going on. "Get out of that!" and everything. Do it the OFP-style. Bring back the coordinates and NAME EVERYTHING(e.g. Blackhawk)! Or for example: not - enemy in "townname here"; Far; Very far - left, right - I never see anything or know what to look for. In OFP I took a glimpse at the compass and immediatly knew where to look. So much for that.

In the campaign I miss the set-up of Operation Flashpoint.

Missions where you just had to drive a car or truck for once without any combat. Those missions had dialogue(spoken by real voice-actors) in them and brought the characters closer to you.

You learned to fly a Blackhawk in a simple evac-mission. You had some tank-training, got yourself a M60-tank before getting to have an abrams. You even got to play a Black Op behind enemy lines. Most importantly, a big portion of the campaign you were "only" a soldier following orders. Giving you much time to just enjoy the game and get a real hang of it before being promoted and being in charge of up to 12 Men or a few tanks.

    So much variety.

Unfortunately all that is absent in ArmA I and II.

Instead they tried to bring base-building(very poor attempt to make it wors) into ArmA...what is that ? I don't want that. I didn't buy a RTS-game! Also they kind of brought the Multiplayer-Evolution-Missions into the campaign..really. Can't get into detail there - kind of spoiling story there.

I wonder how many of the original developers are left. The technology has been upgraded, but the campaign has lost so much. In OFP, the campaign has been the heart and soul with all it's characters "Gastovski, James Gastovski.", Armstrong, Hammer..the Resistance..

Not to mention the lovely mission in the end, when you picked up every major character to drive to town and have a drink..as the game ends.

Basically that is the only difference - the campaign and how it has been created.

These are the things where Codemasters came in when OFP has been developed. BIS obviously is lacking some budget. Still, at least they are staying true to their concept and really tried hard. I appreciate it and continue on enjoying ArmA II with its flaws.

And well, I don't really care for bugs here and there - OFP still has so many of them, yet with its approach on gameplay and mission-design I enjoyed the hell out of it.

Everybody here knows that ArmA II has cons - for me the pros outweith the cons though. You have to decide for yourself if the pros do it for you or not.

(not that I listed any ArmA II pros - just wanted to kindly vent after playing through the campaign.) 0:)

  8. Wow, looks like Sam Fisher has taken some Jason Bourne-ish-moves!

I absolutely adore it. After the disappointing Double Agent this looks like a proper Sam Fisher-Game.

Not on my radar before after DA, SC Conviction just made it onto my Most Wanted-List!

Of course I hope they will include a health-system again. This way the player has to think twice how he approaches a situation - look for health packs, do I have any ? No, extra careful then!

We'll see how it progresses, looking forward to PC-footage.

  9. I played a few matches with the 2.6 patch now and there is some changes noticable.

The pak38/camouflage-bug did not appear and we could clearly notice the difference now in the T17.

Usually you could take out an opposite tank with 3 T17s stunning the enemy tank.

Now they are pretty much useless against armored units, but still mighty effective against infantry - fair deal to hold your ground against enemy infantry in the beginning!

Can't get more into it, didn't notice anything else besides slight changes to some maps here and there.

Good stuff though Relic...now get on CoH 2 in a modern theme!

  10. Darn. I still had hope but with the gameplay that last bit of hope is buried. Battlefield - Dragon Rising - now it's official.

Will be fun, no doubt, but the line "most realistic shooter ever" already is a huge joke.

I am sure they will work on the small things though - like the seizure the player is obviously having whilst moving.
