  1. Ah very good, thankyou for the response.

I agree with the weapons mod idea, are there any groups out there currently working on such a mod ?

Also, are new player models able to be implemented yet ? Not just changing the texture of the skin, but totally overhauling the player model to something not so sci fi ? :)

Definately keeping an eye on this one. Good luck with it !!

  2. What time period is this set in ? Current OIF time frame or based into the future ?

New player models ? New weapon models ?

Is it based on Army SF or can you choose different units...SEALs, CAG, Rangers ?

And will the enemy be insurgent/terrorist, local militia ?

Just a general question, is it possible to add in class based gameplay ? So you can choose between Rifleman, Designated Marksman, Support, Medic so on ?

  3. So, is't possible to import weapons models (or any other) from XBOX 360 version?

Code may be different, but graphics and animations... probably not, but...

    it's a "open question"... :shifty:

    braveman

No. Even if you violated the EULA and cracked open the HD on the 360 (while voiding the warranty on your 360), the files are compressed and not in a format that could be imported into an editor and exported.

Here's an idea.... add them to the PC version in an official patch ;)

    .

You're saying it to wrong fella, RedStorm is not involved in any way in GRAW.

Yeah I know mate, I was just being facetious. Just letting them know that they screwed the pooch in relation to the weapons selection for the PC. :)

  5. SP is fine.

    MP:

Give us everything that the Xbox360 version has. More weapons, player models/camo choices, more maps, more gametypes.

Allow all sights/scopes to be used on whatever rifle/machine gun...so a SCAR-H with an EOTech, or the Mk46 with an Aimpoint.

    Options, options, options. ;)

  6. Short answer = no.

What you refer to as the Eotech not being centered, well, the reticlue is centered, the bullets are centered, but the animation that brings up the sight is what brings up the gun too high, thus making the reticule seam too low.

I will fix the SAW, the change to make the Aimpoint the default was a last minute thing, and since I don't use the SAW much I didn't realise you couldn't remove the aimpoint.

It appears that the SAW doesn't have any other animations to use other than ironsights.

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. Apart from the few obvious issues this is a fantastic starting point. I appreciate the effort you have put into this mod.

I guess we'll have to wait for the SDK for a fix to the optics issues though?

  7. M16A4 : M203, vert. hand grip, eotech, reflex scope, acog pic

    M4A1: " " " " ", suppressor (we all know what an M4 looks like)

    MEU SOC pistol bottom pistol

M14 Designated Marksman Rifle: Suppressor pic

Those are selections I'd like to see be added.

Oh I also forgot to add to my list (m14 DMR, M16A4, M4A1, MEU(SOC) .45) I also think that the SAM R would be a cool rifle to add

A cool sniper rifle with accurate 5.56mm precision

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/3b/MEU_SAMR.jpg

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f...per-rifle-2.jpg

    http://www.dogfightink.com/sam-r.jpg

You are reading my mind. Nice selection. This game needs to drop the M8 which has not been selected and never will be selected by the US Army and possibly even the MRC which is nothing more than a concept rifle and get back the fan favourites and a little bit of reality. The current selection is just too small

  8. Yeah I'm getting the same issues. EOTech is still zeroed incorrectly. I fiddled around with some of the .xml files and was able to realign the reticle, but the bullets still fired in the wrong position.

Has the Aimpoint on the SAW always been screwy ? Instead of viewing down the Aimpoint, I'm still looking into the iron sights which are blocked by the rail attachment for the Aimpoint. So basically the SAW is unusable. Is there anyway to move the positioning of the weapons to (especially in the case of the SAW) align them correctly so the optics can be used ?

    Any ideas ?

  9. I don't know if UBI even understands that a console-shooter can't beat a pc-shooter, thats it!

Most of the time Publishers aren't actual gamers, they're just idiotic businessmen.

i think FPS on consoles beat that on the PC money wise, thus more important for publisher

and see it as a money game like monopoly or MAD, ubi plays well and they are gamers in that scence, they try to stay in the game

we get what we deserve, if the PC market was the big player and the consoles were "the other platform" we would not complain about this....

be happy we got support and dedication from the dev team for this game, even if it might not suit your liking it is the best we can get

So you're saying that as the consumer/customer (who is always right mind you) I should be happy with what I got, because it's what we deserve dependant on the platform ? I paid for this software and expected the highest quality for the price I paid.

In my humble opinion, we have not been given the best possible quality and service (once again this is no slur against GRIN, the development of this title is not in question for the most part, although some areas could do with a fair bit of work...MP). Ubisoft have given the PC users a watered down title missing many of the features that the Xbox360 title has, especially in the MP component.

GRIN have never been in question in either their commitment or quality of work as far as I am concerned. I just wish that PC users were not relegated to essentially a 2nd class position in relation to the console market. If this is going to become a trend, then the PC is certainly on track for some dark days ahead if "multiplatform" means (in Ubi's case atleast) majority of the focus on console minimal focus on PC.

  10. I don't want an XBox360 GRAW port. What I want are all the options/modes that the XBox360 version got and have traditionally been in Tom Clancy R6 and GR games. These include LMS, Seige, Fire Fight, Recon, Hamburger Hill, and tons of guns. The PC version of GRAW has been sorely lacking in these regards. I like the actual gameplay and prefer its realism over the XBox360's arcadish feel, but the game modes and options just aren't there.

Well said. Unfortunately, Ubi don't give a flying ferret about the PC users. So it won't happen. Having to rely on the mod community is not good enough. We should be getting officially released and supported content on a par with what the 360 is getting. It's lazy publisher support (GRIN did a fantastic job with what they had...you guys have my appreciation) which is pretty much a given from Ubi.

  11. Why do so many of you cry about the big lunch box. Who the heck cares what new skins, game modes, missions, etc that the lunch box gets? The PC version will have modding tools, that means we can make what ever skin we want, custom missions, custom weapon models, just about anything. The lunch box may have more love from UBI, but lunch box owners can't even mod their current version of GR:AW.

Be happy that UBI is allowing GRIN to back us up (at least for one year). GRIN is going to be releasing a lot of new feaures for PC GR:AW over the summer. When their time is up, we'll still be modding and finding new ways to enjoy GR:AW.

    silent_op

The reason I voice concern (not cry) is that (obviously) one version of Ubisofts product is receiving more attention than the other. Yes, we will be getting mod tools but it would be nice if Ubi could give the same amount of attention or close to the PC version as they do the 360 version.

Out of the box, the same multiplayer options and customisation should have been present.

But I still love the game and will continue to play and look forward to the patches coming soon.

  12. While the addition of all these MP modes is definately agreeable, why can't we get the same type of expansion in the area of new weapon systems, different player uniforms (player customisation - like the Xbox360 version) and so on ?

Xbox360 version certainly has WAY more in terms of custom options for the player, this level of customisation is certainly missed in the PC version.

  13. Ok dang nabbit someone start to seriously review this game including all the stuff we have been talking about from the demo.

How does the retail version compare?

    Weapons (how many...more than demo?)

    Graphics

    Final number of maps

    Final number of missions

Number of mp gametypes and what are they

And for goodness sake somebody figure out how to mod the coop limit already!!

That should only take a decent modder 5 minutes flat to figure out.

    :wall:

    Hello!!!!! :o=

Demo and Retail game feel exactly the same. There is no difference except for the fact you have the full game to play except for one part of a mission. Not much more to say.

Weapons, well, there's the real problem I have. GR1 exceeds here in every way except for customisation. Colin had suggested that there are more weapons in the full version...still waiting for them.... :nono:.

All I've seen so far is what you get in the demo:

    Primary:

    SCAR L

    SCAR H

    Mk46

    MRC

    M99

    M8

    Secondary:

    M9

    Glock

    M8 Compact

    MP5SD6

    Others:

    ZEUS MPAR

Graphics, well the graphics are no different either. This will depend on your rig though. Mine is pretty much as high end as you can get minus going into Crossfire/SLI. I can run everything at full at 1600x1200 with no worries. Looks fantastic. I don't give two hoots about no AA. It looks fine. This is a draw back from the deferred shading or something (IIRC) they are using. Don't care, looks good.

Maps for MP off the top of my head numbers 5. Not alot. Should have been more.

Don't know how many SP missions there are. But they tend to be quite lengthy on the harder settings, and the enemy AI is really very good. Ghosts AI is good too, though they tend to be a pain in the rear sometimes. I don't like how they are spaced out so far. Small teams would rather stay rather close then spread out over 50 - 100, which I have seen some times. It is difficult to bring down heavy fire on an enemy position when your team is blundering about 50 metres down the road. You should be able to set team spacing and break your team into 2 fireteams. GR1 wins here again. Squad controls and movement were MUCH better in the first.

MP gametypes are COOP and Domination(I think that's what it is ??) haven't really looked at MP yet. Not enough servers or people playing yet.

Thats it really. Good game, but lacks a few things which made GR1 really shine. Squad control needs much more focus, it's clumsy and sometimes really annoying.

There needs to be a buttload more weapon loadouts. I want M4A1, M16A4/M16A4 SAM-R, M14 DMR, SR25, M240 or M60E4....so on. ACOG's !!!!! Where the heck are the optics ?? Engagements are sometime's over the useful range of the Aimpoint and EOTech, ACOG's ARE A MUST !! I also want to be able to mount optics and sights on the Mk46.. why only iron sights ?? Deploying the bipods are also something I want.

Weapon selection need ALOT MORE FOCUS AND VARIETY.

Overall I like it, but it does need work.

EDIT: Would have liked some customisation of the kit the Ghosts wear. Different helmets, load bearing equipment, different uniform (ACU, Marpat....so on), at the very least in the MP game).

  14. This is all true. But who knows what this is actually running on at the moment, and whether or not it is being shown using high res textures (you would think they would). Im really hoping the textures don't suffer like they did in BiA1. They were absolutely horrid.

But anyway, I'm definately waiting for this one, and hoping and praying it's a step or 2 above EiB, which I'm postive it will be. Graphics aren't always that important to me, gameplay is where I'll be most critical. :D

  15. It would be nice if you could chose between some differnt kind of load bearing equipment (but it should actualy suit to the primary weapon you have: SAW pouches if you use the M249). And between different headwear (nothing at all, helmet, boonie or an old special forces baseball cap ;))

I dont need my own face in the game but would be cool if you have some faces to choose from (with different beard styles :D)

That's exactly what I wish GRAW had. Customisation adds a certain personal feel to the game and differentiates you from everyone else. Soldier LBV's and equipment tends to vary (if pictures and footage from Iraq/A-stan is anything to by) from soldier to soldier, and I would be suprised to see a soldier with exactly the same setup/rig as the next.

Hopefully this will be added to the game in a future patch or something. Aswell as different head protection, knee pads, camo types (ACU/Marpat), different patches and so on.

  16. The graphics are not suffering in these pics. Once again, these are ingame assets.

The texturing here looks better than alot of games I've seen and worked on. This stuff is top notch. I would love to see you do better.

DuvalMagic is Randy Pitchford. If he says this stuff is from the game engine, then it is.

Lets wait till E3 for a better look. ;)

And if by smug, you mean trying to point out fact from fiction, I guess you have me there. I am by no means trying to be smug, and if I have come off that way then I apologise. Also, when the game has been released and the texturing is as bad you seem to think it is, I will eat my words. Until then, as I've said a few times, lets wait for some better pictures and also some ingame footage before we start jumping down the artist's throats. :)

  17. Like I said before, http://ve3dmedia.ign.com/ve3d/image/articl...08023720065.jpg is not what the in game assets look like high-res.

    Here's proof:

    vy8wwk.jpg

And this isn't even quite in game either, by the looks of it. Nobody textures eyes that high res; I'd say 256 at most in game.

That is just some artists edit job. Mate, you cannot compare these screenshots. That front cover pic from OXM is clearly edited. This picture has been confirmed as in game (staged ofcourse for dramatic effect) by Randy Pitchford from Gearbox on the www.evilavatar.com forums and ofcourse the Gearbox forums.

New screenshot available at the www.biagame.com website shows that the first screenshot is indeed in game.

Your "proof" is nothing but speculation. ;)

Once again, I believe you should "wait and see" before passing judgement on something you have neither seen first hand, nor had a decent look at. Stop being a Doubting Thomas.

  18. You're judging this all from an extremely low res scan. This picture is what BiA 3 has in store. I've not seen many other games with that level of character detail.

If you don't have a high end PC, then your visuals will suffer, that's a given. This is "next gen" however, and if you don't have the rig to show these games in all their glory, I'm not sure what you really expect.

Even if that is ingame, I still stand by exactly what I said before. Mediocre textures plus a shader and some deformations. That's all you're seeing there. But that's beyond the point, because that's more then likely not an ingame shot. The positioning of the camera is too perfect for an ingame shot in my opinion.

It's not in engine. Compare the textures of the face and helmet's resoultions to the guys in the scans

    :wall:

Meh, I couldn't be bothered. I know what the engine is capable of as I've been using it on and off for the past few months, and I know that is actually using ingame assets. Everything there is in engine, and there is more than just "some deformations" on those models.

If you have no firsthand experience using the Unreal 3.0 engine, then you have exactly zero idea of what it is capable off. Therefore your opinions are moot.

Lets all wait until we see some more hi res screenshots before you pass (inaccurate) judgement on it again.

  19. You're judging this all from an extremely low res scan. This picture is what BiA 3 has in store. I've not seen many other games with that level of character detail.

  20. Once again, your basing your assumptions of bad texturing on low quality scans. The large hi res BiA3 pic that was posted around the net a few weeks ago showing a close up of Baker with 2 or 3 other guys in the background looked extremely impressive ( http://ve3dmedia.ign.com/ve3d/image/articl...08023720065.jpg ). If you don't think thats good, then you have issues. ;) Art assets will probably evolve over the development period, so I doubt what we have seen so far is the final quality.

Fact, FPS + Console = crap. BiA has always been good on the PC, the only thing it suffered was dumbed down graphics courtesy of the console versions. Earned in Blood was slightly better graphically, with slightly higher res textures, other than that, it was as good as any other PC FPS title.

And of course im sure it will require yet another 500$ (or more) PCIe video card.

Well, UE 3.0 games (or any next gen engine games) will require a pretty beefy machine, don't expect to run anything smoothly (with all the bells and whistles turned on) on anything less than a geforce 6800/radeon x1800 minimum.

  21. Just been watching some videos over at IGN.com and their preview of GRAW, one of the vids had a player throwing frags at all sorts of things. One part had the player walking backwards and throwing a frag. So, hopefully that will give you an indication of what the frag throwing will be like. I didn't see any running and throwing, so perhaps you can only walk and throw.

  22. Standardised weapons are fine, and yes, it does follow realism much closer, but this is a game. I'm sure the US SF will have a much larger arsenal than 8 rifle choices in the future. ;)

They could have atleast added the old workhorses like the M4A1, M16A4, M60E4, M14/M14 DMR so on so forth.

I'm sure it won't cheapen the experience when playing the game, but I would have much prefered there to be larger choice of rifles than 8.

  23. Well for the PC it looks like there is only:

M8 (it appears as though there's a Carbine version aswell)

    SCAR-L

    SCAR-H

    Mk48 SAW

    MR-C

    M99 Sniper Rifle

    MP5 SD6

    Glock 18

M67 Grenade (I think, hopefully Smoke, Flash and WP grenades aswell)

    Not sure what else...

The Xbox360 weapons list was quite a bit larger:

    Single Player & Multiplayer Weapons

    M8 Carbine

    36K Carbine

    SCAR-L Carbine

    SCAR-L CQC

    SCAR-H

    MR-C

    MK48 LMG

    MG21 LMG

    M107 Sniper

    SR AS50

    M95 Sniper

    SCAR-LCQC/EGLM

    SCAR-L/EGLM

    SCAR-H/EGLM

    M8/M320

    MR-C/AGL

    MR-C LW

    ZEUS-MPAR

    M9

    M9SD

    M67 Grenade

    Smoke Grenade

    Multiplayer Exclusive Weapons

    AK-47

    SA-80

    MP5SD

    A4 Rifle

    M468-SD

    T-95

    T-95 LMG

    M60

    KJY-88 Sniper

    SR-25 Sniper

    PSG-1

    A4 Rifle/M203

    SA80/M320

    T-95/M320

    M468-SD/M203

I'm not sure why the PC users got quite literally screwed over with such a measly offering of weapons to use. Pretty disappointing.
