  1. if you were the producer of the game, 200 bucks, easily, your ideas are great!
  2. ofcourse, comfortable is never good, stonecasters keep us on our toes!
  3. no, grin wont add any new objects to the editor unless objects are added to new maps in future map packs etc.the objects etc in the editor are the ones thare used in the game, no more, no less:) you are more than welcome to create your own custom contents tho. I am actually writing tutorials on the subject right..NOW! no, sadly enough, that would work horribly for the games optimization and if people complain about low framerates now, a free use of objects and textures would be...horrible! horrible I tells you! the video memory on your graphics card would cry! the diffrent sets have diffrent prefixes added to their names, the specifics of this is in the support folder of the game! so I should have bought some extra memory for my ghraphic card instead.... There should be a possibillity to render the distance only when you get there.... so tere at first is no detail, but when you arrive all is there (hey I don't know anything about modding so dont shoot the messenger) yes, we are using lods in the game but lods dont help texture memory.
  4. well with our resident stonethrowers its easy to get kinda disheartened sometimes and it does warm the heart to see that some people like game and cares enough to post about it. I believe that it takes twice the passion to write about something you like than something you hate! and it does keep our motor running.even tho diesel is the official fuel.
  5. to quote comic book store guy from the Simpsons: "worst starwars ever, I will only see it three more times today"
  6. hehe yes, when you export it also calculates the lightmaps and that my friend, can take a very long time... if you have a large level that is.
  7. I can understand that lots of people show no mercy on your job.... you did great, and only the hard effort needed to finish a level make some people whine like that German bear did this mornin.... On the other hand it is great to have you GRIN people aboard, not many game developers dare see their groopies. Let them talk, there's always a better skipper left behind at the dockyard (Dutch proverb) im just joking around:) I think what you are trying to say with your proverb that people always think the grass is greener on the other side?
  8. I would like a sequel to Day of the tentacle, made by the original team. edit: oh im sorry I thought this was the "magic wish of the day" thread, sorry, can someone move my post?

  10. uuhmm...sorry mate...thats just....odd... : ill ask around but ive never heard about it before
  11. Sorry too far USA-->UK otherwise I'd do it, np where do you live? the uk?
  12. I hope not, I hope it will add to a great game that has a few problems. 9/10 GRAW owners prefer GRAW to succeed. Damn right I do! ... a £30 turkey with high hopes is like a dinner date without a lay. It sucks! I thought a dinner date without a lay DIDNT suck and that that was the problem...
  13. yeah, we mainly play coop on a lan, not online, its nice to sit next to each other while sneaking through mexico
  14. if you rephrase that in english I might be able to help you...
  15. nice! thank you for the effort!
  16. Ubersoldier, what you must realise is that this is not GR1 this is GRAW.it was never ever meant to be just like gr1.if it was just like gr1, why not just play gr1?
  17. we cant answer your questions, because of legal issues. What ubi intends to do with our game in the future we cannot say.sorry. but we will be here to support you if you need help.
  18. why do you think we are here?? Ok fine the community appreciates that. But if your team would have done 40% of what the community asked this major blunder would have been avoided. This game will go down in GR history as the worst attempt to make a GR sequel. Eventually people will realise is true. I was under the the apperantly faulty impression that gr2 pc was the worst attempt at making a gr sequel. shows how much I know.
  19. we will provide you with tutorials on how to get started, the rest is really up to you guys, we dont have the manpower or the resources to assist you in the ways that you demand.
  20. I have to say, Wille, I'm an outsider to the industry. However, what you described is something I've heard pretty universally from developers about publishers. This is not an attack on grin, but to my understand an experienced developer can account for that, along with minimizing it to the best of their abilities. And either way, it's still their responsibility to make the best game possible given those restrictions (not to imply you necessarily didn't.) Anyway, I respect your work, (on and off GRAW; some of the stuff you've posted on other forums is excellent) but I do think there are things for Grin to defend. Or, at least, things to admit fault on. yes, developers always have problems with their publishers and likes to complain about it, but everyone has _diffrent_ problems and very varying degrees of them. thats my point, and one developer can therefor never say to another "hey ive been in the excact same situation and you should have done this". lol, did you do a google stalk on me and look at other forums? thats scary! I am "admitting" that its not perfect in every or any way, but im not apologising for it as we did as was best possible under the circumstances. and will continue to do so in a vain attempt to please everyone;)
  21. you should never work 2 days with _anything_ without checking if its working, just like I save my 3dsmax files every 3 minutes in a new file incase it decides to go bonkers on me and corrupt my files. just a little friendly tip! you know what, Im not a level designer , i am an arist, and dontk now the editor that well, but ill try and learn it as a half noob and might run into the same issues as you guys and then ill be able to help you better as I can get answers straight from my fellow coworkers. that sound ok?
  22. you needent wory about the atlastgen.exe at this point.its merely a tool to compile alot of smaller textures into one large texture atlas to help the engine render objects faster. when you learn more about the import and map process this will be very usefull tho! so dont delete it , hehe
  23. making terrains in those kind of applications is not a bad idea at all, just remember to optimise the number of polygons before importing to the engine! hehe
