I fear this game will never have a big enough community to ever make this game popular enough for longevity. Everytime I load the MP browser there is always only about 150 players or less playing(106 right now). I realize that when the MP patch comes out that this number will increase some. But, in all honesty have you ever seen a game patch increase the amount of players that much. I mean the patch that we got today didnt bring in any extra players.
I hope I am wrong, but if there was a huge interest in this game there would have at least been a spike in the number of people playing it tonight to test out the new patch, and for those that couldnt play it before due to gamespy issues. Even if Grin does eventually manage to get everything right, there will never be enough players for it to carry this game for more than a year. This game is nearly a month old, still yet, there is only about 28 servers online right now. Only 5 of those servers have players in them. That is an incredibly small amount for a new game. Even if there was 3,000 GR players right now holding out on purchasing\playing GR:AW. When the patch is released, and 90% of them get the game and start playing. That's still a ridiculously small number.
My point is, in one months time of release we have on average 100 players online. It would be almost unheard of for a patch to change those numbers by a far amount. The patch tonight proved that by not even spiking those numbers even by a small amount.

The network speed settings seems to be what adjusts this. You lose some of the effects and other things in mp with a network setting of 512upload vs 1.5upload.

Its using securerom.

Well, all this about the game being incomplete just turned me off to buying it. I have no interest in paying $55 to get into a Beta test.... If I'm going to shuvel out enough money to eat on for a week then I want a finished game.
GR1 wasnt even finished when we got it..Id rather have a game released that they are still working on and adding things that the community wants.. than a game that is said to be completley finished and developers no longer taking community feedback and adding things for us.

LOL is it really that hard for you guys to determine what he is saying? I realize he is normally spanish speaking. But his english isnt as bad as you make it out to be.

Scar-L with scope, silencer and front grip is my weapon of choice. Does anyone notice that even though the gun stats say the guns are less accurate with a silencer that they appear to be more accurate with one attached? Im able to get more bullets center mass faster with a silencer attatched than I am without one. The MRC is by far the crappiest weapon in the game it takes two of the 3 shot burst or 5 single shots to take down someone the majority of the time. The range on that weapon is terrible as well. I get more kills with the MP5. Its crazy that it costs so much in the domination mode. The XM8 is a supreme weapon compared to that POS.

I voted "maybe". I think its pretty harsh on systems. But, in all reality if you think about it BF2 has a minimum requirment for an FX5700 ultra. A year later a newer DX9 game now can no longer carrry the FX series. Thats not really suprsing. Im just kinda on the fence about it. I know my system which has a 7600GT struggles at times. I'll agree with the fact the engine should have scaled back some more. Remember Quake 3 and how far it scaled back and scaled forward. It would run on an 8meg card at lowest settings and push a 64 meg card to its limit. Now thats scalability!

the camera for the cross com is on the side of thier helmut. So even if they were using NVG's it wouln't help the camera.
You would think in 2013 that a helmet cam would be equipped with nightvision.

english?

The AI are not using Night vision in the crosscom.

Coop isn't really that complete either at this moment. When the team leader dies the game ends. There isnt any firefight, defend or other gametypes. At this point all coop players have to play are the missions and unfortunatley after awhile they will get old because the enemies for the most part are always in the same place. The game in itself is still just a work in progres. But, at least it is a "work in progress" at least its not declared finished by UBI. We have been told they will continue to develop more stuff for the game. So its not just the MP that is unfinished, everyone is wating for more additions.

I was wondering why there was no Smoke nades in the single player as well. The only logical explanation is the smoke nades were implemented at the last minute and the AI's werent coded to react properly to them. For Example: even though you threw a few smoke nades out, the AI would still see you and engage at you. Hopefully in either further patches and\or expansions we can utilize the smoke nades in SP and coop because they add a nice tactical element to the game.

What im worried about is the anticheat. If and when we get it. The game is going to become even more of a resource hog. I really want anti-cheat in this game, but Im worried how they are going to develop their own program without bogging down the game more than it already is. Everything else looks good, after looking into the quick.bundle file abit more you can see that they already had deathmatch planned as its mentioned in the .xml a few times.

I have a hard time swallowing the fact that it would only take 512kbits upload to host 32players. Thats a far less requirement than games that are even 5 years old with way less physics. When the game was first released I hosted a 16 player game on my 512k upload and there was several lag complaints.

Of course its "unfinished" it was created in under a damn year.
The game wasn't created in under a year. Development started in November of 2004.
Ok fine..Does it really matter. The average timescale for a game development is 3 years. ###### is your deal with finding small details in every thread I make and correcting me? I unfortunatley cant remember every single detail posted on this forum like you magically can. Give me a break. That has nothing to do with my point. The point is the game was made in a very short amount of time. AND THEY ARE GOING TO ADD THINGS WE WANT.
-
Why complain about things that we are promised to get? If you dont see how ridiculous that is. Then thats your problem. We are getting more maps, gametypes etc. Yet, even though they said, "yes more stuff to come" we still create posts about how unfinished this game is. Of course its "unfinished" it was created in under a damn year. GR1 was unfinished when it was released. GR1 was more of an arcade run towards the TI and shoot game before patches. It takes time and "constructive" feedback from the community to make a game the way you want.
Read back in the old ubi archives.. How we asked for binoculars that were standard instead of a kit item. The TI as an option etc etc.. There is a difference in constructive criticisim and the crap we have now. I want the game to be just as good as you guys do. I just know the way we are approaching it is wrong. Surely you would agree, cause if we acted abit more civil about things GRIN would still be answering every question we had just like before.. But where are they? Why dont they come here anymore?
-
Ok, thanks for the correction. Either way I agree with it 100%.

I didn't say that online complaints were the sole cause for the decline in pc gaming. I said it only "helps". Do you realize how many people ive talked to on MSN and TS who have read these forums and decided not to purchase Graw based on the posts in GR.net and GR.com forums. If you have a choice between a customer base who is hard to please (plus cost more to build the product for) and a customer base who is easier to please and cheaper to build a product for..who do you choose?
Besides the whole point is the fact that we are being listened to. We are getting the main things we want. Just like we did in [GR]. There really isnt a reason to complain in this particular fashion. IF only half of the energy put in some of the posts were used in a positive and imaginative way to think of things you would like to add to the game (like in the old days) instead of just bashing and saying the publishers\devs dont care. We would accomplish so much more.

I dunno, this seems like quite a constructive and reasonable thread to me, with no flaming and folks being tolerant of each other's opinions...
Well you must not have read this thread in its entirety. Its the whole damn forum in general lately. You people dont even realize that you are just helping in the further destruction of PC gaming. Its way harder to please us PC gamers than the console ones. Its way cheaper to make games on consoles. If crap like this continues for too much longer with games. Eventually companines will just say F it and stop making PC games. Its a freaking catch 22 with you guys. Nothing satisifies you. I`ll say this crap again. They had under a year to put this game together. They made a great foundation. Its missing a few things, but they are already working on a patch that they plan on releasing in less than a damn month. What is the damn fuss? They are listening to you. You want LMS..they are giving you LMS..You want more maps..They are giving you more maps.If you continue to ###### even when they listening..they will stop listening.

Coolbits is useful for any nvidia setup. It unlocks hidden features like overclocking for your video card. I recommend using RivaTuner (google it) and coolbits. There are alot of hidden settings you can adjust by using these programs. Although for GR:AW, in my experience anyway..nothing I do makes any difference in my performance. Its exactly the same from absolute minimum to absolute maximum. The exact FPS no matter what. I guess the Ram is the bottleneck after several hours examining what is going on with this game. Even though my OS is so well tweaked that im only using 120 megs at startup. Ive modified my explorer shell to where nothing but the vital services are running and it still has not effect whatsoever on my frame rate. Ive overclocked my CPU to a 3500+ with only 2fps increase. But, when I moved some ram from one of my extra computers to this one to 2 GIGs of Ram I increased my framerate by a whole 5 fps.
I did notice that in the quickbundle file..I looked at the graphics card setup options and a 7600 really isnt properly identified. So maybe it has something to do with that. Its aggrevating though.
On topic, Ive got a 6600GT PCI-E in the other computer and It runs the game alittle differently than my 7600GT..The graphic settings seem to have an actual effect on the perfromance. To achieve a constant 30fps on that machine I have to have settings on 1024x768 and all on low.

I really just dont get this thread. Ive also been a long time [GR] player. I played since demo days. Ive been around since the beginning. Have you guys forgotten that GR1 wasnt the GR1 we came to love when it first came out. The game got better through patches. Its already been stated that we are going to get more gametypes, more maps and stuff in patches to come. So what is the fuss? They built this game in under a year. That is impressive in itself. Give them some time. Instead of making stupid ass threads like this full of complaints and negative BS why not just speak on the positive things and add what you would like to see added. Its this kind of negative crap that made Grin not want to come around these forums anymore in the first place. Your not helping any by making threads like this. This game has great potential. Realize the potential and voice what you would like to see added.

The answer to this thread is no.
I could put ten so called hardcore gamers in one room and ask one question and get a too many answers to be viable.
Grin has had a hard job with this game making it playable to us on the forums and those out side, its been a balancing act, i think once the patch is out and the bugs are fixed its going to go a long way.
The answer is no because you cant please all people all the time.
So in reality no they dont matter, because they want far too much in one game.
Agreed, Good post Colin. Takes me back to something Bo said awhile back. "The perfect game for you would sell exactly one copy"

Press CTRL + Alt + Del and bring up your taskmanager. You will notice that your mouse will come up as well.
Also, if you leave a program up in the background. Like MSN,TS, or GR.net your mouse will stay visible.

Im hoping they give us an option to adjust voice volume. I think its a bit to loud as well. Id rather just turn it off completley. The only thing that helped me was to go into my sound cards EQ and change the scheme to EQ-FLAT.

We were wondering in this thread, how the nature of the Graw AI would be like when they are attacking ? Strangely, when they are attacking allout, they seem to be less impressive than they normally are. In the mission, when I am defending Vip2 in the embassy, the enemies attack but very often, they do not move from cover to cover and keep on moving although they are being shot at and their mates are dieing by their side. The way the Ghost AI move, from cover to cover, stealthily and checking out thir surroundings , is far more impressive. I hope the enemies do the same in the future.
Also, the defense mission has again emphasized the need for the ghosts to follow the 'move' order exactly. This becomes especially important against tanks, rpgs and other explosives, where, taking cover is not enough but double cover or an inside area is attimes necessary.
Some of the enemies need to 'hear' a bit better. They sometimes cannot 'hear' their mates being shot, a very short distance away, even though there are no other sounds.
Ive noticed that too. I would shoot an enemy that was maybe 10 foot from another one. Shooting and killing the first guy doesnt even phase the guy thats standing 10 feet from him.
Another thing related to that, You can get really close to an enemy, and as long as there is a wall between you. You can unload your entire round of ammunition at a car, then throw all your nades and blow all kinds of crap up and most of the time they wont investigate.

I've gotten burned out on it as well. This optionless game has really gotten old for me. Ive beaten all the missions in both SP and coop several times. Not much else to do. When I play this game, I sometimes feel like im just playing a demo or something with all the Gametypes, serversettings, maps and the OPTIONS in the game restricted. The foundation of this game is great though, and I really really want to enjoy it. Only 5 maps, unlimited respawns and DOM only just bores me. Cant wait for some LMS,Siege and firefight to bring some life back into the game.
