Building a PC, is alot easier than you think. But, if you prefer to have one built for you. I know from word of mouth that cyberpower systems are a pretty good company to go through. Their prices are very reasonable. You should be able to get a decent computer from them with 700$. CyberPower Systems Link
*Edit* Thought I would add, just so you know. No matter where you go to buy a computer and no matter what you do. It will always be alot cheaper to build it yourself. You will always get more power for your money.

Someone knows if GRAW is more 'processor' or more 'videocard' kind of game?
I currently have a:
AMD64 3000+
Radeon 9800 Pro (128 mb)
MSI K8T Neo
1 gb PC3200 ram
I think the best thing i can do is upgrading my videocard. But.. i think i'm gonna wait till GRAW is out and wait for some tests and/or comments to find out which videocard gives me the best performance

Considering the 'minimum' requirement is a P4 2.0ghz or the equivalent. You have a AMD3000+ which is equivalent to a p4 3.0ghz. I would agree with ya, the video card upgrade would give you a bigger boost.
-
Hey, uh velocity, thats $475 mate, not $410
. But he could easily skip the processor upgrade (depending on what socket his current processor is), and keep it under 400.Basically, the most important thing is the graphics card, as your current processor should far exceed recomended processor specs if its a 2ghz AMD (2ghz or 2000+? Theres a difference).
7600GT is definetly at the best price point where gaming cards are concerned, it will totally blow away any of the 6 series cards, and it costs less than some of them. You will just have to have a PCI-E slot (unless it comes in an AGP?). If you dont want to upgrade to a PCI-E motherboard a 7800GS is one sweet card, and AGP only.
Ya, when making the post I was going to tell him that he could keep his slower ram and use it for awhile. Forgot to put that in there. Edited my post to reflect that. Thx.

Definitly get rid of the video card, even a 6200 will probably pwn it in GRAW. 1GB is fine if you don´t go all crazy with the texture settings, but of course if you can afford another GB, go for it.
A 6200 is not gonna pwn it in GRAW.
He wants to play the game in 1280 rez medium quality. A 6200 would be slow on 800x600 in med quality. It scores under 40fps in Doom 3 on 800x600 med. Matter of fact the card he has now would outperform a 6200. For 400 bucks he could have a whole new system, that would be a better investment for his money. That mobo can hold an FX processor, 4gb ram and SLI ready. He will then have an upgrade path for the future. The only AGP card that would be capable of running the game the way he wants would probably be the 7800GS. Which is 270$. For 130 bucks more he could have a faster card (pci-e version is cheaper) and a new mobo, faster ram. -
I would do this if I was using 400 bucks.
Asus A8N-SLI mobo: 90$
400 Watt psu: 40$
AMD64 3000+: 120$
1GB Ram: 65$(Can use your slower existing ram if needed)
7600GT: 160$
______________
Total w\o Ram = 410$ (all prices taken from newegg)
Total w Ram = 475$
Re-use your Harddrive,opticaldrives and case.

I havent been able to find anything on one. I would also like to have one for my wifes computer. The fastest AGP you can buy is a 7800GS after rebate you can get one for about $270 US. I`ll wait untill prices come down abit before I get one. This will be the last upgrade I do on her computer. I`ll change her over to PCI-E after that as well.

From what I understand, we may even get all the maps you speak of. Redsquare,Ghostown,Docks all ported over into GRAW. Lets not also forget that we are being given mod tools to make our own maps. We most likely will also get expansions like we did with [GR]. That in turn will also give us more adversity. As Colin stated above, mexico has many types of environments just like everywhere else.
-
I havent played the game. Going on what I've seen with other recent games. I think your current setup should be ok at 1024x768 Med settings and No AA\AF.
-
Great Preview, very detailed and in-depth. It is by far the best recent review I have read of the game. It answered most questions I had before the read. The only thing left that I would like to know. Is what were the system specs on the machine you played it on. From those system specs what type of performance were you receiving? Thanks again for a great review.

That should be that much more encouragment for all of us that do like the game and how it was made. To make it known and come here and to other places and support it. When others are not.
I have noticed what your talking about in alot of other games. The publishers seem to fail to realize that there may be more people in the forums complaining versus complementing the game. Simply, because the people who like the game dont visit the forums as much due to playing and enjoying the games.
So, when this game comes out. Lets not forget about all the time GRIN spent here taking suggestings, giving answers and just hanging around. Go to those forums and Vote in those polls and keep it the way you described. GRINS vision is our vision.

I couldnt find this anywhere else. Everywhere the specs are listed it doesnt list the amount of HD space required. I found some information on that. All the rest of their information about the game is accurate. Release dates, Other specs. So I trust this probably is too.
Disk Space: 4.5GB
Large Game..My copy of [GR] with all my mods and 2 expansions is just alittle over that.
Also saw that at the UBI store they are offering a PC-CD Rom version of this game. Thats like what 7 cds.

Look at that HDR and Character Texture.Nice screen posted by MonkeyRat...wonder what happened to razz?

Why does it say that a 2.0GHz PENTIUM based CPU is required at the bottom of the page? Does that mean it won't work on my AMD??
It means a 2.0ghz pentium based CPU or the equivalent. Which in this case is like an AMD xp2400+
All in all it means if your CPU no matter what brand performs exactly like that of a 2.0ghz pentium. It will be sufficient to run the game.

Yes, there will be a Singleplayer\Coop demo and I know exactly when it will come..When its ready.
-
We have waited for the next GR all this time and your worried about not having enough blood splattering.
Im just glad thats the only types of things people have to complain about. -
I can already tell for the first month I play this game. I will be dying alot by just looking at all the details and pretty graphics. Lord help me when an explosion happens and I just stand there in awe while getting my head blowed off.

-
Nice, thx Colin. The light from that explosion in pic #3 is awesome.

I think its too late for grin to take any of these suggestions the game is going to be comming out in afew weeks and i dont think they are able to make any radical changes to the game at this point. At this point in time we will just have to take the game as it is.
Probably so, the reason why I used a "free-look" feature as an example. Is for me it seemed to be the fastest way I know how to do this. In my mind anyway, its just as simple as adjusting camera angles and preventing character movement while pressing the freelook key. Regardless, I think the game will be great. These little things could almost be done with mods if the right tools were given.
-
I like the idea of a "free-look" feature. Where by pressing a key you could just turn your head left, right,up or down leaving the gun unmoved.

Thanks for giving a summary BigSm.
when he shoots a burst it looks like not so many recoilDo you mean that they said the weapons dont have much recoil even on automatic? Or that the weapons dont have much recoil "as long as" you burst? Did you happen to notice if they were able to shoot the AI's accurately while running, like in the UBI trailer? Thanks again.

I would like see a wooded map pack that resembled this for GR.
That's the perfect type of environment for my taste with GR gameplay. With the physics we now have considering the PPU. The leaves would move when characters come in contact with them. Small tree branches would break as we brushed up against them. All of this which would make noise to give away your positions and such. Imagine a guy underneath an old large and weak tree limb and shooting it off, only for it to fall off the tree and kill him.

-
Didnt your momma ever tell you. Dont run with scissors,Dont run with Knives, Dont run with Guns, Dont run with hand grenades!

-
I really dont see why this is even a matter to discuss. This is the way it was in [GR], it worked well that way. No sense messing up a good thing. I cant even think of a time I heard someone complaining about not being able to run while throwing a nade in [GR]. It worked well, you guys dont want some game like COD2 where nades are being throwed constantly. Can you imagine the Teamkill rates when grenades are so easily thrown.
-
Being able to throw nades while moving would turn the game into a nade fest.It would be very similiar to the online play of COD2. There will be a line of enemy soilders running up to a choke point throwing all their nades out one after the other. There needs to be a handicap for everything in the game to keep balance. If you could run, slide, strafe and throw a nade all at the same time it would become the most used weapon.

I can't see how anyone would want to disrespect their country by making a mockery and fraud themselves that way. Claiming to be doing what thousands die for. Claiming to get the Navy Cross that only a few get, stealing someone elses story for their own. I'm at a loss for words.
By outting him and what he did, maybe he will open his eyes. I hope it changes him. Isnt lying about receiving a Navy Cross against the law?
*Edit*Yes, found out its a serious crime, if he does this in his normal everyday life to get jobs or other things. He could be getting himself in serious trouble. Federal Crime Link
