Hello Everyone,

I am searching for some older VBS 1 Addons that were available freely downloadable on the vbs resources website a longtime ago. They are listed on the bottom of this page: http://modify-the-game.com/VBS1/ I was recommended to sign up here from another ARMA3 Board called comrade in arms, as they said someone might still have those here.

Here they are in writing again:

 Delta Force Recon Beta

 Saboteur Opfor Objective

 Captive

 Ground Crew

 75th Rangers

 Camo Faces

 Tonali Special Forces

 Devgru Units

 African Guerilla

 Desert Special Forces

 BAS Special Forces 2

 Ground Surveillance Radar (ADF2)

 Fast Rope (ADF2) Artillery (ADF2)

 Toyota Hillux (USARMY1)

 SOFLAM Operator (ADF2)

 Radio Operator (ADF2)

 Rapier Air Defence (ADF2)

BI stopped giving support nowadays even to buying customers, so I am really left on my own I would be supremely grateful if someone still has them for this old game. I have the game with several addon cd's and usb stick but the free addons are missing unfortunately.

	Thanks very much in advance

Just curious if there is anywhere i could purchase any PE version of VBS still ?

I think i remember reading somewhere awhile back that PE was only being sold for a time,

also curious if VBS2 PE includes things like movement in moving vehicles by default or is that part of an addon?

btw: I understand VBS is not a game and the price for PE is high.

With the JCOVE community down and U.S Army Lite hard to find I have been thinking of uploading the titles to share. I hate to see these titles not utilized. If interested let me know. Each one is around 1.4 gigs or so and if needed I can break these down into smaller pieces for easier downloading. These were free tools released by the MOD in the UK and U.S. Army in the U.S. Same engine as Armed Assault. Easy on systems. Full mission editor as well.

I also downloaded I believe every mission and tutorial from JCOVE.UK before they closed as well.

7Zip: http://7zip.org

Use 7zip to put back together then run the installer. the Zip files make a folder called content, Don't use Winrar it does work for the 7Zip archives.

Winged Warrior 2010

Exercise Winged Warrior once again offered some pre-deployment training for the next rotation of personnel from 430 (Tactical Helicopter) Squadron, based at Valcartier, Que. who are headed for Afghanistan.

The exercise, based in virtual reality using high tech simulation, was set in contemporary Afghanistan and challenged CH-146 Griffon and CH-147 Chinook helicopter crews with a variety of scenarios and the "unexpected" that comes with operating in a hostile environment.

The simulated environment gained another level of realism at this year’s exercise by increasing involvement by other nations including Germany and the United Kingdom.

Lieutenant-Colonel Rudolf Fendt, a squadron commander in Germany, along with Lieutenant-Colonel Christoph Hegele from the German Army, came to observe the exercise from a simulation standpoint.

“We are trying to get as much information about the exercise as possible,” said LCol Hegele. “I have never personally worked with the Canadian Forces before, and I am very impressed with the organization here. For us to reach this level of organization would take a lot of work, but it’s a goal for us to reach the level you have.”

While the German forces have been a strong coalition force in Afghanistan, they admittedly do not have the same “work-up” training as the CF. They observed the simulation portion of the training in order to bring back the lessons 1 Wing Kingston has learned.

Colonel Christopher Coates, 1 Wing Kingston Commander, invited other nations to the exercise in order to increase the level of realism, as Canadians work with coalition forces in Afghanistan. He also knows how valuable a training tool Ex Winged Warrior is, and was eager to share the knowledge that can be gained by such an experience. LCol Fendt saw the potential to learn as soon as he found out about Ex Winged Warrior and contacted Col Coates through European military channels in order to participate.

“We would like to introduce simulation for [our] NH 90 [helicopters] being sent to Afghanistan, so we [wanted] to see what the CF [was] doing in terms of simulated training that we haven’t learned yet,” LCol Fendt said.

Two officers from the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom, Flight-Lieutenant Steve Hewer and Captain Neil Simons, participated in the exercise as Chinook helicopter experts and pilots. Although they say there are similar training exercises in the UK, the Canadian exercise is advantageous because it trains everyone at the same time, including commanders and aviators.

“That’s an improvement here, because [the exercise] trains everyone from high command all the way down to the crews. That’s an advantage, because you know everyone has been put through the paces. We train our components separately, and augment them in theatre, making our headquarters there a mish-mash of personnel,” Flight-Lieutenant Hewer said.

Another added benefit of Ex Winged Warrior, says Col Coates, is it gives crews the chance to fly their respective types of helicopters together in a simulated environment before having to do it in Afghanistan.

“It’s pretty hard to train aircrew on a platform which Canada doesn’t possess on home soil. This is the only chance Griffon and Chinook crews have to fly together before they arrive in theatre,” said Col Coates.

The exercise has been so successful that the British forces hope to return for the next Winged Warrior exercise, with even greater expectations than this time.

“I would like to see [even greater] British participation for the next Winged Warrior. I would like to send a Merlin crew, an Apache, and maybe a Sea King, but that might be tough to accomplish,” said Flight-Lieutenant Hewer.

Ex Winged Warrior originated as a live-flying, live-firing event in 1981 as the final performance check of the Advanced Aviation Course. It still serves this function for the now Advanced Tactical Aviation Course but was converted from a live to a synthetic environment in 2006. The latest version of the exercise served solely as a step towards achieving a state of high readiness for the next rotation of CF personnel headed for Afghanistan, which includes tactical helicopter personnel from 430 (TH) Sqn.

Greetings,

2 Days ago the UK MoD VBS2 Team gave the green light to distibuite VBS2 LITE JCOVE to the masses

Since you are here you know what VBS2 is but what's the difference between the regular VBS2 and VBS2 LITE JCOVE?

1. VBS2 JCOVE is free, the UK Army recruiters are giving this away to potencial recruits just like Americas Army in the US.

2. British units and equipment

3. You can't add any BIS or user content to the game

4. No dedicated servers (The manual says that you can join by IP but I haven't tried yet)

5. The game have only 2 maps (1 big map that looks like IRAQ and a second Medium map)

The game/sim come's with 5 SP missions and maybe 10 LAN/WAN missions, the editor is in there so you can do your own missions and play with your friends.

So how can I get the game?

You can get the game/sim at the link below, they have a torrent and direct link download and the UK MoD Team is working to release this in an official way but right know that's the only way to play the game

I have a question, I'm an American, is there anyway for me to buy the USMC, US Army National Guard and After Action Review packs? If I buy VBS1, I want to have all the addons so I can enter the dedicated server and maybe play with you all!

P.S. Is the dvd suite available to customers in North America?

Been doing a bit of reading on the game forums, and the popular consensus seems to be than Virtual Battlefield System One is nothing more that Operation Flash Point with enhanced scripting.

The game engine is exactly the same, although Bohemia may deny this, and all of the OFP add-ons will work in VBS1. If this is the case, then why isn't the Military using OFP for it's training rather than this overpriced piece of fluff?

US Distribution and Improvements

Distribution and licensing of the VBS product range post-March 2006

Australia - 23rd March 2006

From March 2006 Bohemia Interactive (BI) is distributing the Virtual Battlespace 1 (VBS1) simulation product directly to North American customers. North American customers may purchase VBS1 through either Bohemia Interactive (via the online shop - http://www.virtualbattlespace.com/store) or contacting BI directly at vbs@bistudio.com. Bohemia Interactive is also available to provide Virtual Battlespace (VBS) simulation modification and content development for North American customers as required.

VBS Licensing

Over the coming months the VBS website (http://www.virtualbattlespace.com) will be updated to reflect the changing nature of the application and improve quality of service. Bohemia Interactive is pleased to offer a range of additional licensing options for VBS1 to suit larger customers (such as military or civilian organizations).

Licensing options now include per-seat, site and enterprise licensing. Prices are standardized for all customers and include a range of support options. Site and enterprise licensing may also include provision of VBS tools to allow customers to develop content (such as 3D models and terrain). If you are interested in purchasing either a site or enterprise license of VBS1 please contact BI directly at vbs@bistudio.com.

BI is available to provide training on the use of VBS or tools, conduct content development, or modify the simulation engine to suit a specific customer requirement. BI currently fields development teams in several locations around the globe, offering responsive, reliable and cost-effective development options for both military and civilian users of VBS. BI is also available to facilitate HLA or DIS integration between VBS and other virtual, live or constructive simulations. BI has already facilitated the integration of VBS with the constructive simulation JSAF via HLA.

VBS has matured into a flexible and comprehensive training and analytical simulation, providing high-fidelity virtual environments suitable for a range of purposes. Over the past 18 months a wide range of product enhancements have been developed (guided by the customer requirement). New VBS1 components include:

US Army 1 Module

The US Army 1 add-on for VBS1 is the most comprehensive and complex VBS1 add-on module ever created, providing highly detailed and realistic representations for a large number of US Army vehicles and weapons. The pack contains new functionality and detail not yet seen in VBS1, including basic CAS simulation, customisable vehicle markings and numbers, new effects, radar for air units, animated TOW on Bradley IFVs and artillery units that integrate seamlessly with the VBS1 Artillery Module.

Instructor Interface

The VBS1 Instructor Interface allows an administrator to modify scenario elements in real time (during a scenario). Designed to reduce the amount of time spent in scenario creation, the Instructor Interface allows objects, vehicles, units and groups to be created and given tasks (if applicable) whilst a scenario is running. For example, IEDs can be placed on-demand, fire support can be simulated, and units (participants or AI) can be given orders, allowing an administrator to move large numbers of forces around the battlespace (similar to a constructive simulation).

Convoy Training Enhancements

Previously VBS1 vehicles only provided a single position that a unit may fire from. Convoy training enhancements allow any vehicle occupant to fire their personal weapon and move around on the back of moving vehicles in a realistic fashion. Tank commanders can turn out to use their personal weapon or use binoculars. Vehicles may also have working indicators as well as operable doors and hatches.

Terrain Development

Terrain Pack 3 contains five new desert terrain areas for VBS1. Three of the maps are generic (not based upon any particular location), and two are based upon actual areas in Iraq (As Samawah and Al Anbar). All maps contain brand new models, including many enterable buildings and new vegetation. The town of As Samawah, located in the Al Muthanna province of Iraq, has been replicated in the most complex terrain area ever created in the VBS1 Real Virtuality simulation engine. Additionally the Baghdad Green Zone and the Iraq Al Muthanna province have been developed (contact vbs@bistudio.com for more information).

After-Action Review (AAR) and Mission Analysis and Review System (MARS)

The VBS1 AAR records and replays full VBS1 scenarios, replicating unit animations and vehicle movement. The playback can be run at up to 64x the original game speed and paused, stopped or restarted at a specific time. MARS is a separate AAR application that does not require VBS1 to be installed, and allows VBS1 recordings to be replayed on computers totally separate from those upon which the VBS1 session was conducted. This allows MARS to be distributed with VBS1 recordings as part of 'take-home packages' often provided following training sessions.

VBS1 DVD Suite

Bohemia Interactive is pleased to announce the VBS1 DVD Suite, a special offer available through the VBS online store (http://www.virtualbattlespace.com/store). Including almost all available VBS1 content, the VBS1 DVD Suite provides a significant discount for those interested in purchasing VBS1 on a per-seat basis.

Well my order is in! BIA has my money, all I have to do is wait, and boy am I excited! I've been pouring over the various sites reading up on all the features, capability, Addons, and I feel like a kid at Christmas again!

Hope to see some of you guys 'in game' -- only, VBS1 isn't quite a 'game' is it!?

Hi VSB1 Fans! While I wait for VSB1 to arrive I wonder if there is any 'Essential Reading Material' like: Manuals, Reference Material, FAQs, Guides, etc. that I can get my hands on and read so I'm up to speed ASAP and ready when VSB1 arrives?

Also I see a lot of references to 'Unofficial Addons' and wonder if there's a site or links to download these so I have as much at the ready as possible.
