On mission 5, stealth mode, recover gear and guns. There are 7 to 8 guards to fight and I have tried over and over unsuccessfully to pass this portion of the game. Does anyone have a suggestion or pattern of attack I could use to pass this part of the game. Your help will be most appreciated, thank you.

I'm really getting into Shadow Wars now. Once you get past the first couple of levels the deeper gameplay kicks in, and the various difficulty levels add longevity too.
I spent a few hours playing Shadow Wars yesterday on the 3DS, it was actually very very good.

The 3D effect is surprisingly good, no glasses but a real 3d depth of view to the screen. Even just the loading screen with the 3d models of 3 ghosts revolving in the centre was like "WOHA, 3d gaming is here!"

It is extremely sensitive to movement though, there's no way you could play it as 3D on the move, in a train or in a car for example. My experience was if you turn your had just 1 inch to the side, the effect is ruined. But if you can sit still, in a darkened room, the effect is truly next gen.

Kudos to Nintendo for pulling it off and pioneering new gaming experiences, again!

I'm just getting into the game, done a few levels, so far I've already lost on Ghost so I might have to replay that level, to keep a clean sheet, but it's a classic turn based genre brought bang up to date. Impressive stuff.

I'm not saying Predator for the PSP was recieved with universal acclaim when it was released, but while I was preparing a review of this version of Ghost Recon, I did come across a couple of interesting features.

First of all, lot's of gamers (like me) really missed civilians, non combatants, in GRAW1/2. In Ghost Recon they really added to the gameplay and realism. Sadly missed in AW.

But, they are back in Predator.

Also, GRAW did introduce something new, selectable insertion points, which was a nice touch, tactically.

This is also in Predator.

That's two unique and best features from earlier games, that both appear in Predator.

I'm trying my best not to say something like "if only the same approach could be taken with Future Soldier", because that's for another sub-forum, but I thought I'd through it out there, as most folks probably didn't know this.

Ubisoft stepped up their game with Ghost Recon Predator for the PSP. You command a 3 man team into Sri Lanka, taking out a group of terrorists, The People's Action front or Activists for short. I'm only halfway through the game so far, but this is what GRAW 2 PSP should've been. There's a leveling-up system, in-game achievements, and unlockable weapons and customising options for your soldiers camo and guns. The story so far is basic Ghost Recon fare, with your standard mil-shooter objectives: rescue civvvies, destroy enemy installations, eliminate the opposition, recover Intel, then reach your Extraction Point. The graphics are fairly decent; they didn't seem any better or worse than GRAW 2 IMO. The gun models are blocky as hell, but thats the only thing that stood out as an eyesore as I'm not too terribly concerned with graphics. While the AI isnt particularly bright, they do try to flank your positions and run for cover. Which will bring me to the games' very few faults: the targeting system. I'm playing on Normal and with no lock-on/auto-aim now so this might change on Difficult, but the enemies take an impossible amount of hits before they do fall. It reminds me of the NDS version of Call of Duty 2 Modern Warfare. As far as I know so far--judging by the in-game achievements--there are 12 levels in the game, a step down from GRAW 2 PSP's 22. The levels are fairly huge, with trees and rocks and fallen logs to use as cover in teh jungle sections, while barriers and vehicles and barrels with shield you from buillets i the urban levels. Becuase of the level's sizes the game employs Transition Points where the game will pause and load up the next part of the level. Its not as bad as it may sound and it works well I think. They say that imitation is the best form of flattery, and that just may be the case with GR:Pred. It resembles past SOCOM FTB games a lot, but actually does some things better. I like the fact that you can choose your squad (a Scout, a Marksman, a CQC Specialist, and an Autorifleman) and then switch between them in-game--that was a feature I kept hoping for in the FTB series. Even though I'm only halfway through the game, this is shaping up to be better than GRAW 2, and almost right up there with the MOH Heroes/FTB series as PSPs best shooters.

Pros: Almost everything was done right by Ubisoft this time. Some said that the controls were a bit convoluted, but its no more confiusing that what GRAW control scheme was like. I think I'll be replaying this game until the next Ghost Recon game is released on the PSP 2, although its still a shame we couldn't get a PSP version of Future Soldier along with this one. Woulda been sweet.

Cons: Blocky guns (which isnt that bad of a con) Almost no extra gameplay features other than a co-op Multiplayer mode and Quick Missions, which are nothing more than the story levels.

Final Thoughts: I would've loved to have seen a return of Firefight, Defend, and/or Recon Modes from GRAW 2. Or even some Dynamic Instant Action missions a la FTB 2, where you play as a trio of Mr Hisan's Mampuri Guard soldiers still mopping up remnants of The Activists. They could've gotten creative with that just by recycling the story maps and tasking you with assassinating high-ranking Activist officials, defending villages, stopping Activists convoys, destroying said convoys, eliminating enemy presense at certain villages, etc. The list could go on. Anyway maybe we'll get something like that out of the next installment, Ghost Recon: Force Majeure * This is a game that just screams for DLC, but I know Ubisoft wont do it.

* My own fictional title

From DailyMirror.lk

Fighting the LTTE is not over although the war is over in Sri Lank. French gaming company Ubisoft is introducing a new video game titled 'Ghost Recon Predator'. In this game an elite squad is on the hunt for terrorists in Sri Lanka.

The video trailer of the game, shows the players in the jungles of Sri Lanka going behind the LTTE with messages appearing on the top of the screen saying that the US troops are after the terrorists "who think nothing, of hiding among innocent civilians, of using people as a shield for their illegal and immoral campaign".

The LTTE was defeated by the security forces last year and one of the allegations raised by the Government and human rights groups was that the LTTE had used civilians as human shields during the war.

New Ghost Recon Game Promoting Genocide in Sri Lanka:

The upcoming Ghost Recon Predator for PSP and Wii is set to hit shelves around November of 2010. This third person shooter game by war novel guru Tom Clancy is created by Ubisoft Red Storm Entertainment. It has had successful previous releases of Ghost Recons taking place in various parts of the world from desert terrain, to jungles, and urban war zones.

However, even before hitting the shelves, Ghost Recon Predator is beginning to hit a wrong note here. What comes a shocker is that one of the countries in the game takes place in Sri Lanka. This is a country accused of alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity from rights groups such as Amnesty International, Doctors Without Borders, and Human Rights Watch. The controversy about the game is that it promotes genocide of a particular ethnic group under the guise of fighting terrorism.

Violent conflict between the government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) of the majority ethnic Sinhalese, and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) fighting for an independent homeland for the ethnic Tamils northeast of the island, has plagued the island for over three decades. This conflict is no different than those of Burma, Sudan, and Kosovo, all of which have experienced gross human rights violations from torture and rapes, to extrajudicial killings and kidnappings.

Since 1983, hundreds of thousands of Tamils have fled persecution by the hands of the Sri Lankan government and settled in various countries throughout Europe, Canada, and Australia. Many still have loved ones back in Sri Lanka who are currently undergoing hardships and abuses on a daily basis by government forces. Just this year, the United Nations decided to set up a panel to launch an investigation into war crimes after protests by human rights groups and the Tamil Diaspora globally.

Having Sri Lanka as part of this game with the intent to kill Tamil people is no different than making a game about killing ethnic Kosovans as a Serb player or killing ethnic Kurds in former Saddam Hussein's Iraq. This is one game that would make me feel uncomfortable seeing people play in stores knowing that they are killing my people in a form of a game. Lastly, having Sri Lanka in the upcoming Ghost Recon Predator will not only promote racial intolerance towards one ethnic group, but also tells people that it genocide is okay. It further tells us that Ubisoft Re Storm Entertainment supports genocide. There is nothing entertaining or cool about genocide.

Nothing new here for Ghost Recon. Remember these?

The governor of Chihuahua (the town, not the dog) has banned "GRAW2" from being sold and has ordered all copies confiscated. This comes on the heels of the mayor of Juarez, a city on the Mexican border of the U.S., blasting the game for instilling poor values and portraying his townspeople as violent.

South Korea bans Ghost Recon 2

Citing a plotline that goes "way too far," South Korea's Media Rating Board has rejected approval of Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2, according to American military newspaper Stars and Stripes. This (obviously) forced the game's Korean publisher to abandon its plans for a localization of the squad-based shooter.

From what I see, there is going to be very few guns just like GRAW2 for psp. Would it hurt for some DLC that contains extra guns? C'mon FTB3 has 80+ weapons....and some mission DLC.....since it has no online, they need to add some game modes that will add to replay value...they could have at least made COOP online if anything...if they want this game to see, they need to go the extra mile, and give psp owners something that is worth our while.
