	At 43 I fondly remember games coming on large floppy discs and cartridges.
</p>

<p>
	This week I'm about to upgrade my virgin contract to their amazing sounding Gig1...That's the potential of downloading upto near 1gig a second.
</p>

<p>
	It's got to the stage where even the largest game can be downloaded within the same time it takes for me to make a cup of tea, nip to the loo and get back to gaming again.
</p>

<p>
	I just wanted to share how that completely blows my mind. Almost feel for my kids that they'll never truly appreciate how amazing that is.
</p>

<p>
	My sharing thought for the day.

<p>
	I'm running a Windows 10 64-bit OS, Intel Core i5-6600K, 3.50GHz processor with 16 GB RAM.
</p>

<p>
	Periodically my system will run extremely slow. In checking task manager, I would find that the RAM will be maxed out (98%), but the CPU and disk drive will be less than 10%.
</p>

<p>
	I will not have any programs open.  The process that is using the most memory would be display fusion at 47 MB.  The total of usage comes nowhere close to 16 GB.
</p>

<p>
	The only way I can get the system back to normal is to turn it off for about 2 days.  This is problematic when trying to work remotely.
</p>

<p>
	In the research I've done it could be a virus or drive incompatibility.  I'm running webroot anti-virus and have done all updates on my system.
</p>

<p>
	Any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to prevent it from happening?  Could it be a sign that RAM is failing?
</p>

<p>
	I can post images the next time it happens, if that may be helpful.

	So, after linking to a <a href="https://www.ghostrecon.net/forums/index.php?/topic/60704-richards-first-person-weapon-mod-fpwv-2014/&amp;do=findComment&amp;comment=620188" rel="">Ghost Recon camera trainer</a>, Dropbox decided that this is "malicious content" and... now hold on to your hats... has disabled ALL of my shared links that have been active for years (e.g. to GR mods here in the download section, various GR tools, etc. - about 3 Terabytes of data) and BANNED me from creating new links (they said the ban would last for 24 hours, but that was days ago).
</p>

<p>
	Dropbox sent me an email announcing this, with an embedded link to re-enable my sharing privileges. That link did not work at all ("There was a problem" message). I contacted customer support via live chat, but they could not help me ("sorry, it's too technical"), "escalated" the issue to email, and gave me a support ticket. That's been hours ago, and nothing happened since. I've been a paying customer since the beginning, with Terabytes of data stored there. This is unacceptable. What a bad joke.
</p>

<p>
	I'll probably be moving all my data. Dunno where to yet.

	Looking for recommendations.
</p>

<p>
	My trusty old MacBook is falling apart, and as I probably cannot afford another Mac, I‘ll be looking for a cheap(!) PC (Linux/Windows) alternative.
</p>

<p>
	It needs to be as portable (small, thin, and light) as possible, while still being able to run (mainly older) games at reasonable performance and have enough CPU oomph (dual/quad+ cores), screen real estate (1440x900+), RAM (8+ GB), and SSD storage (256+ GB) for development work (e.g. my dev folder for GRHU alone uses a couple of hundred GB).
</p>

<p>
	Mainly been using Macs since the 80s, and not all that up-to-date on the other side of the fence.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks for any info you folks can provide.

	Currently running a laptop, which is doing me fine for the strategy games I'm playing at the moment, though not so for getting the most out of GR:W's.. so later this year I'll be getting a new desktop PC sorted out.
</p>

<p>
	With that in mind, I'm also considering getting a dual monitor set up.  I've always gone for monitors with low ms, is this really worth it or should I be focusing on other elements?  Would you recommend I go for a PC with two graphic cards, or would a single one do the job just as well?
</p>

<p>
	Cheers in advance for the advice.

<p>
	Hi All,
</p>

<p>
	I'm after some recommendations of free video editing software.
</p>

<p>
	I want to upload my gameplay videos to youtube and retain the 1440p resolution.
</p>

<p>
	My last gameplay videos reverted to 1080p. I used the online youtube video editor and recently found out that only provides 1080p max.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What free video editing software would allow me to to do that.
</p>

<p>
	I don't do anything special with my editing. Basic transitions, intro music overlay and text title screen.
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	Cheers

	Ryzen formerly known as Zen is is looking to be on par with Intel's top performing CPUs and maybe a little better.
</p>

<p>
	AMD has been slowly releasing information until its Official launch in January.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	It is rumored to be sunstantially cheaper. It is being said the cost will be in the 300$ range. Comparing that to Intel's I7 flag ship which comes in at over $1,000.
</p>

<p>
	<a href="http://www.amd.com/en-us" rel="external nofollow">AMD's Official Page</a> Has a new video showing some side by sode comparisons and offers a sneak peak at processors capabilities.

<p>
	I only wonder if this little chip is it or will they also launch a far superior product during launch as well.

<p>Windows 10 (10586.164) currently does pretty well with older games now. I'm thinking MS has done some tweaking to allow older games work. I can confirm quite emphatically that GR <em>WILL</em> play on Windows 10 safely if you buy it through Steam. I've had nary  an issue with Steams GR with DS and IT. I just installed Joint OPS Combined Arms Gold  and even installed Splinter-cell Pandora tomorrow although many have stated in the past builds (before 2016) now plays with little issue.</p>

DirectX 12 can result in power savings or performance gains of 50 percent or more, according to Intel and Microsoft.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Will I need a new graphics card to play DirectX 12 games?<br>Probably not.</p><p>DirectX 12 will work with most modern graphics cards. Any Radeon graphics card or APU built around AMD’s Graphics Core Next Architecture—so the Radeon 7000 series, Radeon 8000 series, Radeon R200 series, Radeon R300 series, and the Fury and Fury X—will all play nice with DX12. That’s basically every AMD graphics solution released since 2012.</p><p> </p><p>All current graphics cards (like the pictured Asus Strix Fury and EVGA GTX 980 FTW) are DX12-compatible.<br>Nvidia’s DirectX 12 support goes back even further. All graphics cards powered by Nvidia’s Maxwell, Kepler, or Fermi GPUs—so the GeForce GTX 900, 700, 600, 500, and 400 series—will work with DirectX 12. In fact, Nvidia’s second-generation Maxwell cards (like the GTX 980 Ti) are the only graphics cards announced thus far to support DirectX 12’s 12.1 feature level, which includes features like volume tiled resources and conservative rasterization.</p><p>Does that mean all other graphics cards don’t support “full DirectX 12,” as you’ll see some folks claiming on forums and social media feeds? Not really. It’s complicated. If you want to get into the nitty-gritty, be sure to check out Joel Hruska’s superb “Demystifying DirectX 12 support” at ExtremeTech.</p><p>As far as Intel goes, all fourth-generation (Haswell) or newer core processors will support DX12.</p><p> </p><p>So wait, what if I run Linux or a Mac?<br>You won’t be able to run DirectX 12, full stop. That’s nothing new, of course, as the six-year-old DirectX 11 is only expected to land on Linux later this year via a CodeWeavers workaround.</p><p>That doesn’t mean you’ll be left in the technological dust, however. The Khronos Group, the powerful industry consortium behind OpenGL, is toiling away on Vulkan, an open-source, platform-agnostic “closer to the metal” graphics API rising from the ashes of AMD’s Mantle. And with Valve’s Linux-powered Steam Machines set to launch in November, Vulkan and OpenGL are poised to make a bigger splash with PC gamers than ever before. Linux gaming is on the rise—so alternatives to DirectX are, too.</p><p>Windows 10 is out! DirectX 12 should make my games faster now, right?<br>Not so fast. Yes, Windows 10 is out next week, and yes, DirectX 12 is baked into its very core, and yes, you may even see some performance increases in your games—but it won’t be because of DirectX 12. At least not yet!</p><p>Software needs to be written specifically for DirectX 12 to take advantage of its features. While Futuremark’s aforementioned 3DMark benchmarking suite already has a tool for testing DX12 draw call performance, the first DirectX 12 games aren’t expected to hit the streets until the end of 2015. Remember how it took a while for DirectX 11 to become widely adopted after Windows 7’s debut? Crafting games takes a long time, especially when you’re wrapping your mind around a new API with new features.</p><p>Patience, grasshopper. It’ll be worth the wait.</p><p>Credits:</p><p>Brad Chacos Senior Editor Brad Chacos spends the days jamming to Spotify and digging through desktop PCs. <p>Via Neowin .net: <a rel="external nofollow" href="http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-10-mobile-build-10586164-released-to-production-slow-and-release-preview-rings">Windows 10 mobile on build 10586.164</a>  &amp; PC: <a rel="external nofollow" href="http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-updates-windows-10-for-non-insider-pcs-bringing-it-up-to-build-10586164">Windows 10 PC also on 10586.164</a></p><p>Redstone build 14279* *= I think is the test build, is on the rough unstable fast ring but in heavy testing. That will be the first redstone update for the year and expected to release in a few weeks. the next will be fall 2016 and what build that is, is anybody's guess.. too early to even guess.</p><p>final note: Redstone is supposed to incorporate many new features one being the browser extension support for Microsoft edge, internet explorer is no longer around. edge has replaced IE and is ONLY available to users of Windows 10.</p><p>Also, wanted to mention before I forget, Directx12 in Windows 10 will only be exclusive to Windows 10. the code stack has been heavily refined and improved so that lag in games should be virtually a thing of the past. DX 11 cards like mine in <em>this</em> laptop will still benefit from the DX12 code base and lag doesn't seem to exist much as far as I have seen</p>

<p> </p>
<p> Windows 10TP has moved from 9926 to 10041 and A LOT of changes have been made since 9926. some of the first signs of changes are the WIFI / Internet connection indicators moved from the low left to low right which is nicely out of the way. the start menu is now transparent.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>You can also go into settings to add indicators for skype, xbox and weather apparently on the lock screen. I'll continue to update this thread as time goes on. I'll beat the crap out of this build gaming it and also, there appeared to be an issue with the WDDM 2 and Nvidia 349.65 driver that was downloaded via the update feature in 9926. It seems whatever was wrong, has been addressed and comes immediately AFTER you install 10041 build and go to update it.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>more to come. You'll see what the new start menu looks like in the screenshot below. screen below is of 10036 but is basically the same as 10041.</p>

<p>IF you are using windows 7/8/8.1, I suggest you go the upgrade route because it works free without the serial key. MS seems to have gotten it right. the kinks out. I thought they would knacker this windows.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>but all seems to be calm. no issues. here is the link for free upgrading</p>
<p> </p>
<p><a href="https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO" rel="external nofollow">https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10ISO</a></p>
<p> </p>
<p>you can create an .iso file and idid and burned it to a DVD. but I have no serial key. so PERHAPS, I'm trying to verify if the x64 creation tool, which at the link is called the download tool. get it! we have one year for free upgrading before you have to buy it afterward.</p>

<p>I seem to be having some sort of issue trying to install some games and I THINK so I went into device manager, opened the wifi, graphic driver, sound system drivers and usind snipping tool to screen grab all my hardware specifically. made think 100% easier.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>I'm looking to first install ARMA2, ARMA 2: OA then private military company.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>if PMC installs perfectly, then I know it was my windows 8.1 somehow.</p>
