If you're playing the Steam version of GRAW 1 for PC, you will likely come across the problem where the Cross Com fails to work very early in the game in the tutorial phase of your first mission.

Here is the fix for that:

First off, you need to find the "ctrl_set_def.xml" file and MAKE A BACKUP COPY OF IT FIRST with a different name in case anything goes wrong!

Then open it with Notepad or any other text editor.

The file "ctrl_set_def.xml" is in your "...\Steam\steamapps\common\ghost recon advanced warfighter\Settings" folder.

there's a line in there that reads:

<button id="hud_select" binding="2" device="mouse" group="misc"/>

It needs to be changed to read:

<button id="hud_select" binding="2" device="mouse" group="interface"/>

And then save the file by simply pressing ctrl+S or using the Save menu in your text editor.

And that MIGHT do it.

IF NOT, the other option is to:

change:

<button id="hud_select" binding="2" device="mouse" group="misc"/>

To read:

<button id="hud_select" binding="2" device="mouse" group="tactics"/>

Fixing the Ready For Bear mission - mission 6

And then we have the patch.bundle problem, which is the cause of the camera clipping/rolling problem seen in the beginning of the Ready for Bear mission...

In the Bundles folder (again in your game's installation directory), the file named "patch.bundle" needs to be renamed to "Xpatch.bundle" (without the quotes of course), AT LEAST BEFORE the beginning of the "Ready for Bear" mission.

It does not need to be renamed back afterwards, apparently, and it might be a good idea to try to rename it before a new game.

NOTE: For MULTIPLAYER you will have to rename it back to patch.bundle. The fix above is only for Single Player.

The Cross Com MAY stop working again after renaming it to xpatch.bundle, and if so, again in the "ctrl_set_def.xml" file, change "tactics" back to "interface":

i.e.,

-TO-

<button id="hud_select" binding="2" device="mouse" group="interface"/>

These fixes SHOULD work. if anyone has any questions, by all means feel free to ask.

I was told by a mod here that he brought this up with the Steam administrators and that if this receives a positive response it will be stickied.

I can't take credit for these fixes by the way. I simply arranged it all in one post, but I found the information here in this forum a year ago and at other places around the 'net too.

I'm now playing with friends on the co-op mode of GRAW and we have a little problem... At the very beginning of the mission, when we should exit the transport, we fall under the map, with the truck if one of us is still in... 

I saw the single player fix but it says to rename the bundle when we play in MP... 

Anyway to play it on MP? Thank you very much.

Ps :we play it in lan using tunngle.

When I serve and play OGR co op maps the game hangs up or crashes when loading the next map, everything else works fine.

Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.

First, I tried to self create the shortcut for the GRAW editor and nothing seemed to work. not to mention that, my research on the internet showed this game isn't popular probably due to its age. That being said, I used the bundle extractor to extract the patch.bundle file. Guess what? I found the context-editor.xml files right in the main directory. So I made a copy and put it into the GRAW main folder.

The editor came on and I placed a piece of road down and saved the file. Next problem: The editor/game doesn't create the work folder and subsequent folders so when I saved my map, where did it go?

so in conclusion, ONLY buy the download version of GRAW if you have no plans for creating maps or mods.

I am thinking in terms of:: Total Conversions or missions.

IE, Bravo25, British Infantry Mod, Centcom Mod.

So far I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game put the mods back in (1) updated qwith the patch again. I deleted the crash dump in the system which had only this lockup in it.. NOw I can start a new game (tried that) went to the next to the last save and now I have the sound stuck over and over repeating and shows the same crash report again.

I tried to copy/paste it in here but it wont paste.

Not enough WAV header data.

All sound and video drivers are up to date. On-board graphics is disabled. EAX is supported. Already tried deactivating it but didn't help. Set all the audio settings to lowest and now the game gets into the loading screen at least where as it used to crash in the main menu.

Realized I posted this in general instead of technical support..Cannot find anyway to delete post.

When panning around or using scope, this happens.

What it should look like. Same spot after panning around.

The weird thing is, if I use the SMAA injection, it goes away, but I lose about 10fps and the game seems less smoother & jerky, so I would prefer not to use it.

I tried reinstalling, but same problem. So what could be the cause? I've played this level before on medium about a year ago and never noticed any problems and the only thing that is different is that I'm using the latest Nvidia drivers. Maybe they've screwed the game up. I can't currently complete the level when it's like this.

Well I just finished GRAW1 with vanilla weapons, and now i wan't to try the mod "Brettzies Weapon Pack v6.0".

I installed, the intro is normal, but every time i try to play a (any) mission the game crash. So this is the error:

I just bought this 'old' game for PC, and I stuck on this level mentioned in subject.

I found a walkthru, which says the following:

But I do not get any rocket launcher here, I can only switch handguns, rifles from the Blackhawk.

Any ideas?

ok, tried the patch. (Patch won.t run.) Patch says can't find installed version of the game. Tried every which way.
