SUBJ: FINAL: Ghost Recon Future Soldier Teaser Trailer - official hints from Ubisoft

1. On or about March 16th, 2010, a representative from Ubisoft (name being withheld to protect the source) that no more hints were going to be provided in reference to the Future Soldier teaser trailer. In all, eleven hints were released.

2. On March 17, 2010, Ubisoft agent code named Ubi Kimi indicated that next week (date not specified) the second Ghost Recon Future Soldier trailer would be made public.

3. There has been a flurry of magazine and press activity over the past week regarding Future Soldier. Some of this intel has answered a few of the questions surrounding the trailer. The highlights are provided below:

* Hint #1 - Russian Federation – the plot of Future Soldier suggests a coup to overthrow the Russian President and subsequent uprising into parts of Europe by the ultra-nationalists responsible for the coup.

* Hint #2 - the unknown object mentioned in this hint is now confirmed to be a type of unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) or what Ubisoft is calling a “ground drone”. Some are comparing it to the Enhancement Droid series 209 (ED-209) from Robocop. More details regarding the ground drone can be found in subsequent report summarizing the magazine articles - to be filed at www.ghostrecon.net.

*Hint #5 - the "two triggered" hint relates to a modular assault rifle in a bullpup configuration to minimize size and have the ability to provide a variety of mission specific configurations including shotgun and grenade launcher attachments (hence the 2 triggers).

*Hint #6 - while this clue remains largely inconclusive, there is mention of a “futuristic heavily Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) based on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Could this be the new Attila tank? Perhaps.

* Hint #7 - apparently the official name of the optical camouflage shown in this hint is “Thermoptic Camouflage”.

* Hint #8 - no one has mentioned the disparity (except for us) between the USS Ronald Reagan name flashing on the screen and the trailer showing the USS John C. Stennis being blown up. This could be an error or intentionally being kept quiet. It is interesting to note, a member of Infinity Ward that goes by Four Zero Two recently sent out an alert that he was onboard the USS John C. Stennis. It’s all very…interesting…and probably totally coincidental.

* Hint #10 - this clue suggested Norway was a potential location for Future Soldier to visit or was somehow related to the plot of the game. Apparently part of the plot is a huge cyber attack that disrupts the ability to monitor activity, specifically in Russia. This cyber attack originates in Norway, so there is a fairly high probability it will be visited. Bundle up.

4. Conclusion:

Overall, the trailer and subsequent hints were vague (probably intentional) and provided just enough mystery to raise the alert level of the gaming community. The release of more information in various overseas magazines provided additional information that will be analyzed in a subsequent report.

Expect the trailer coming next week to be similarly vague, but perhaps demonstrating more of the information released in the magazine articles.
