Fascinating..

What the title says.

After I added my previous blog entry ('Quasi-Return of the Goat-Whale'), I kept wondering why it didn't show up in the 'Last Entries' list. Surely it couldn't be that it was just a draft, I vividly remember selecting "Add this entry as... Published" and I could see it whenever I accessed the blog. Nor did it say anywhere that it was a draft, and not a published entry. "Must've broken something again", I thought, cursing my unrelenting ability to damage, break and/or utterly demolish everything stupid or ignorant enough to come even remotely near my bane of existence.

Guess what? Turns it was..you guessed it..added as a draft. Not a publish.

What tipped me off? That little red/pink paper icon in front of the entry name. Turns out a published entry will display a white-paper-with-a-magnifying-glass-or-something icon instead. Ahhhhh, how very intuitive. Or maybe I'm just tired and stressed out.

Which brings me to my next point: WOOHOO, I'M ON VACATION AGAIN! NO WORK FOR TWELVE BEAUTIFUL DAYS!

Ahem.

Oh, and I forgot to mention my small computer crisis in the last update. A month back (or more), my gaming rig died. After an awful lock-up during the 'Dark Messiah of Might and Magic' demo and the subsequent press-the-power-button-to-force-shutdown routine, I couldn't even get to the screen where Windows is loading before getting hit with a split-second BSOD and an automatic reboot. Repeat ad nauseam.

Bought a new 500GB SATA2 drive, but it ended up gathering dust for 2-3 weeks because I was too lazy to actually try to do anything with it. But when I finally did, it turned out the other drive just had a corrupt boot volume (which I had already figured out from the aforementioned BSOD - being a fast reader actually does come in handy once or twice every decade). And to make things even better, ScanDisc fixed it! Coolness. I then did a full defrag of the repaired drive, and now it actually feels like a gaming rig again, and not like a caveman computer made out of pre-historic rocks and covered in mammoth pubic hair. Utter coolness.

Turned off desktop icons and it became even more responsive. Ultra coolness.

Of course, I'm still too lazy to actually put the old drive back into the cabinet. It's just lying on the desk with a couple of cables disappearing into the chaos that is my computer's intestines. And one of the other drives are lying on the other side of the desk, not hooked up to anything. While the fourth drive is in the cabinet, but not hooked up to anything either. Go figure.

Nothing but old savegames and porn on those anyway. Mmm, porn.

Anyway, guess I'll fire up the Company of Heroes demo again. Just picked up a new webcam at the post office, but it can wait. Time to save the world, yet again. It's hard to be a gamer.
