Lack of Manners and Holiday Shopping

What is it with after Thangsgiving Day sales at area stores. I do not know about where you live, but I am sure it is the same, people waiting in long lines hours before the store opens. OK, no problem, people wait in line days or even months to get tickets to a concert or a movie ( ). Once the stores open, people make a mad dash inside to get the "must have" items. This year, outside of an X360 it seems as if Wal-Mart's HP laptop that was on sale for $400 was what sparked fist fights (at an Orlando store) to people cutting in line everywhere. The line cutter in Orlando was getting beat by those in line first then when security guards got there, he put up a fight with them and got a bit of a whipping from them. At another Wal-Mart, some of the first people in the door got trampled by those trying to shove their way into the store. What drives people to behave badly? Is it lack of manners in people anymore? I think so. Coupled with the "take no responsibility for ones actions" mentality that is now prevelant in todays society, it is no wonder that these things are happening everywhere. I guess holidy shopping frenzies all go back to the first "must have" toy that I can recall, the Cabbage Patch Kid doll that people went wild over back in the 80's. Some of the above things that happen are reasons why I keep my distance from shopping malls this time of year unless I absolutely have to go to one. I will not take part in the cattle car mentality that now permeates the Christmas shopping season at area shopping centers or stores.
