Don't know if you still lurk around, but here are my 2 cents:
Play HU with its optional "Legacy" add-on. It rolls the louadout craziness back to around the default game. That is, 16 or so sets for each soldier (and most have some sort of magnification).
Also, I'm playing on Realistic option (the middle difficulty level of HU) and I find Support useful in certain missions to spread suppressive fire in the overall enemy position.
And last but not least: I found out stealth makes a significant difference in the enemy detecting you. So I suggest avoiding Support operators for most missions, as they're the loudest ones, and going predominantly Rifleman+Demo+Snipers. One satisfying mode of play I like is taking the Sniper role and coordnate the other fireteams from afar, covering them as needed.
Hope it helps. Cheers.
Hi there! Long time GR fan here playing it to this day.
I just discovered that a console version of the game (PS2 or Xbox, can't remember) has a "quick move" command in the first-person interface, like contemporary titles. This is the sole thing I miss from the original PC game - I love the overhead command map, don't get me wrong, but sometimes it feels cumbersome.
Is there a mod for implementing such a feature on PC?
P.S: actually, I also miss smoke grenades from the game. Think it was a grave absence considering the game's theme. If anyone knows of a mod that puts it in, lemme know too.
Doesn't Heroes Unleashed include this feature? I'm playing it right now (with its Legacy mode with tries to keep the rest of the game as close as possible to the original) and there are groups of guards strolling around various maps.
About the console versions, I would love to have a quick move command in the visual interface on PC, to be used together with the overhead map. I think it's the only feature the consoles improved upon the original design (well, that and smoke nades... it's a grave absence IMO).
That and the section with the Ghosts' specialists history and stuff. Neat! I always wondered why they didn't have a full bios page for them like in original Rainbow Six, with big portraits and background etc. So atmospheric. Anywhere I can see that info nowadays? A wiki or something?
I'm doing those single missions on Heroes Unleashed (Black Ops mostly) with the specialists unlocked add-on. Problem being, Buzz Gordon is the only one absent, and has a "KIA" in the slot where his name should be.
That seems a problem. Anyone know how do I fix that?
